An unofficial chapter of the popular Dull Men's Club.
1. Relevant commentary on your own dull life. Posts should be about your own dull, lived experience. This is our most important rule. Direct questions, random thoughts, comment baiting, advice seeking, many uses of "discuss" rarely comply with this rule.
2. Original, Fresh, Meaningful Content.
3. Avoid repetitive topics.
4. This is not a search engine
Use a search engine, a tradesperson, Reddit, friends, a specialist Facebook group, apps, Wikipedia, an AI chat, a reverse image search etc. to answer simple questions or identify objects. Also see rule 1, “comment baiting”.
There are a number of content specific communities with subject matter experts who can help you.
Some other communities to consider before posting:
I went for a 2 hour walk.
Well 1:54:15 but I rounded up. My feet hurt.
Cleaned up and fixed the piping under the sink after it slipped out and flooded the kitchen.
After picking up a friend and his broken down moped I came home to the wife sleeping on the couch. On my way to the fridge I noticed the reflections of the water that came out of the sink. The dishwasher just finished. After cleaning and drying I shortened the waste pipe, rerouted it and fixed it to the cabinet using ,, galvanized hole band ,,. Thinking of adding another strap.
Fixed the lawnmower
The lawnmower decided that Easter is a good time to stop working. I took it apart, cleaned fuel lines and the carburettor, put in a new spark plug, cleaned the air filter, and put it back together. It started with the first pull. Result.
Replaced old non standard electrical plugs with MC4s
So I can run an extension lead and get a few more hours of sunlight on the solar panels through the winter
I think I'm a manager at Walgreens now
The last time there was a sale on poster printing, when I went to pick up my poster, it was total chaos. I waited for a half an hour and then started to talking to the only person working who knew the machines who was very sick. Then, another worker, who doesn't know how to work the machines tried to help. Printer wouldn't work.
We were an hour in and I told the worker that you just have to trim the paper cleanly or it won't take it. I've worked with these kind of machines my entire life and knew instantly. Everyone was frazzled so I didn't want to make it worse. I told them I'll wait. They dismissed my input.
A half hour later, the worker asked if I would come behind the desk. I had them trim it and I followed the directions on the screen and then put the paper in and it worked.
Then, yesterday, I was trying to buy something that would have been $20 cheaper if I had my name input in the system. It said I didn't exist. In the end, I was doing both the workers input and my own input
Fixed the toilet seat
The toilet seat in the bathroom upstairs has two part hinges, where you mount two pins on the toilet and snap the seat and lid on. Something broke in the snapping part this week. Fixed it by removing some plastic from the clamping mechanism, put some epoxy putty in there and around the pins, then placed the seat back. It's still on there today, so it worked I guess.
Made a firewood pile today
We had a storm tear off a lot of branches from the old maples in our yard. I took the larger stuff and sliced it up for our fire pit. There's something satisfying about a nice stack of wood.
I changed the oil in my car.
First time I did it by myself. Only spilled a little.
I cleaned the microwave today
It was splattered with tomato sauce. I even put the glass tray in the dishwasher
I fixed my gf's thongs
Nice to know I hadn't been saving all those different size keyrings for nothing. Fast fashion? Not on my watch.
Changed my guitar strings today
Broke the B string yesterday while noodling, so today I changed all the strings and cleaned up ol' blue.
Cleaned up my shop
After several small projects, it was time for a cleaning and organizing. Spent like 3 hours and the place is still a disorganized wreck. I've just got too much shit in a little building.
I also dropped a clamp on my foot, -2hp.
But, the place is somewhat less dusty now.
I gave blood today.
We don't get paid for it in Australia but it'll go to helping someone who needs it.

This is what I get for being curious.
Ate a lemon cake today
It was one of those Little Debbie's Mother's Day things, I'm gonna have to get several more boxes before they discontinue them.
