  • Yep. I use it as much as possible. I use it in car parks. I use it pulling out of parking spots. I use it pulling out of my driveway.

  • Amazon makes more money from it's web services than it's "amazon.com" shop.

  • Raising efficiency standards will obviously cost money, that's no excuse to keep standards low/cheap.

  • Eating less meat et al is something we can personally do. The very wealthy have massive carbon footprints, mainly due to their ability to consume resources. It's like I still pick up my dog's shit at the park even though not everyone does. Giving up because not everyone is trying to care for the environment is definitely not the solution.

  • Good for you mate.

  • Jesus was at the onsen?

  • I'm drinking a Japanese slipper, which is green, so kind of honouring my Irish roots.

  • You gotta break up with her again. Don't be friends, she's not able to handle "friendship". Even if people are staying friends they should take a few months apart to let things settle.

  • "dank buds" are the flowers. Storing them in a jar is often called the curing process.

  • Been gardening and listening to this well made Alien^TM audio book.

  • Yeah. I have a few rounds weekly, usually quickplay with random people.

  • I don't want a folding e-reader, I was a dual eReader with a hinge in the middle that acts like a book.

  • Using Calibre, they're much of a muchness. I've got a kobo, I mostly eRead on my phone.

  • I got stuck with COD6 because of that shit. It's a boring game and it wasn't cheap.

  • Because for older people it's about learning new things. I've just gotten my 80yo mum onto using a smart phone and it's baby steps but she's learning how to use it. She's learning something new. Before I had a falling out with my father, he had a tantrum at me using big fancy words that he doesn't understand, like app, play-store, email, dns, etc. If you can't fix it with a spanner or hammer he doesn't want anything to do with it, so he watches free2air tv, sips coffee and smokes weed; from what I can tell that's all he does.

  • Eccies will show up on a swab test - Methylenedioxymethamphetamine. Actual coke should be fine.

    I gave blood today.

We don't get paid for it in Australia but it'll go to helping someone who needs it.

Event Spam: Questival at Kryal Castle. May 3/4.

Looks like somewhere between a bush doof and role playing convention. $180/ticket and an option for shared camping next door.

I'm not affiliated, just passing it on. It's only a month away. I'm considering it as its a local cheaper get away weekend. It'd be nice to split the cost of a powered camp site as they're $100 + $10 per person up to eight people.

Socks - what's good, what lasts? I need to buy socks.

So after ten to twenty five years of use it seems that most of my pairs of Holeproof Explorers are giving up on me. They're wearing out in such a manner that darning the spots isn't going to cut it anymore. I hear rumours that the company has changed hands and the modern versions just aren't the same quality.

So I'm up for 5-10 pairs of new socks. I hear good things about wool / merino, but buying anything online I'm sceptical of the actual quality once it gets to me. Even temu makes their products look appealing all the way until you open the package.

Given this group is still small and off the marketing radar, anyone got any brand name suggestions, or even stores I should visit, maybe I should be buying wool and a sock knitting machine.

    Thanks for your thoughts.

Shotgun-wielding teen overpowered by plane passengers

A teenager armed with a loaded shotgun has been charged after allegedly trying to force his way onto a Jetstar flight in Victoria before being overpowered by passengers.

The 17-year-old from Ballarat allegedly climbed through a hole in the security fencing at busy Avalon Airport before making his way on foot to the plane.

The teen tried to climb the front stairs into the cabin, but he was overpowered by three passengers who noticed him carrying the shotgun.

Police were called to the major airport, near Geelong, on Thursday afternoon following reports a male with a firearm had attempted to board a Jetstar flight.

The flight which was carrying about 150 people was bound for Sydney.

    Nissan service price check.

So mum drives a 2003 Nissan pulsar, n14 I think.

The new mechanic round the corner wants $250 for spark plug change and $400 for front brakes, which I hope is pads and rotors for that price.

I've only worked on old hiaces, spark plugs were $6ea, front pads were about $40 and rotors were $60ish. That totals about $125, double it for modern price gouging to $250, that leaves $400 for labor, which seems high to me.

    Whaddya reckon?
