they’re scary because they’re intelligent, relentless, and remorseless
Gorn Queen in 3..2…
I’m kidding, but also, please no.
The ole private equity bustout. Just like red lobster 👌
I really enjoyed this. Dying gasps of wasps is so poetic.
However, as a fig grower and excel user, I would replace:
makes a mess on my desktop
with:
seeds are confusing
Because propagating fig via seed as pretty tricky, and understanding the underlying random seed in excel is also pretty bewildering. And also excel only clutters your desktop when you yourself save too many files there, right?
They can make it harder by adding features that reduce the effectiveness of player skills sharpened in previous titles.
In Elden Ring, jump is sometimes better than roll but you only discover this by facing bosses where jump is much much better then roll. Radagon fight comes to mind but there’s probably many others.
In a sense they made the game harder for those skilled at rolling by offering a complementary way to avoid damage. Now the skill ceiling has raised to knowing when to use which one instead of just knowing when to roll.
This adds both difficulty for veterans and easiness for first-timers.
Have you tried charging with Torrent then dismounting into a jump attack?
With the raptor shirt and jump talisman and a second Curved Greatsword (Morgott’s sword to stack bleed with Bloodhound Fang) you can drop some serious hurt.
That’s what worked for me on Elden Beast, just jousting with jump attacks 🤣
Good luck and congrats on Malenia, that’s the real accomplishment
Picard: Didn’t you have a son?
Worf: Do not worry sir, he is attending Klingon honor camp to learn discipline and respect. He is fine, please stop asking about him.
Amen, I am equally puzzled.
Truly some of the worst FF decisions all in the same game.
Why is the key to the postgame dungeon a piece of undifferentiated loot? Why did the game allow me to accidentally lock myself out of the postgame by selling it?
Why is the story is a low effort clone of Star Wars?
Why set FF12 in the world of FF:Tactics but make no reference to it?
Why, oh why, an all-women-race of playboy bunny girls in lingerie and heels?
That being said, programming your own teams’ AI is peak jrpg wish there was more of that. This baby got thrown out with all that dirty bath water unfortunately
Come with me if you want to
livesuffer
I want to play LoP so I’ll pick it up on sale eventually.
That being said I want to highlight the second screenshot, the one that talks about Elden Ring subterranean shunning grounds.
I made almost the same comment here myself soon after I found this community and it feels very gratifying to see it echoed above.
Start going down a random well in Leyndell, follow down into Subterranean Shunning Grounds, past the hidden wall in the Cathedral of the Forsaken, past the hidden wall in the Frenzied Flame Proscription, down into Deeproot Depths and the Nameless Eternal City, ride the stone coffin to Ansel River Main and finally get a glimpse the Lake of Rot which restarts the cycle 👌
A self-anointed gatekeeper rallying for a purity test circlejerk, how unexpected!
Just attribute the minor differences to the temporal cold war 👌
Those are the same actors reprising their same roles? Wow, I had no idea.
My tinfoil: she survives, but is mangled/killed soon after so he has a love interest in place when the Talosians take him from the beep beep chair into his own nexus/matrix.
I guess the Netflix MSTK was an atari situation : just rehypothecate an old brand we happen to own. I'm not sure exactly what happened there but the result is I rarely see praise for it.
That being said, I really liked it. Barbershop quartet in season 2 is a particularly great highpoint of the series.
Unpopular opinion: Maybe the narrative metaphor of the space station is the dash od salt that enhances the flavor of the voiceovers and that's why I didn't get into rifftrax 🤷♀️
Ya in his quarters he decries the Klingon bastards that killed his son. But at the dinner with Gorkon he drinks and toasts with klingons. He leaves it in his quarters, which of course backfires.
Woah isn't that exactly what he himself tries to do in Undiscovered Country?
Kampfradler. I read War-Roader -> Roadwarrior but Google translate says Combat Cyclists... So... Battlerider? Sweet👌
Is it that battleriders are taking the streets away from drivers? and that since only drivers carry the taxburden then battleriders don't deserve their own rideways?
They are a boomer because their "cure" (give them no roads!) just feeds the "disease" (they took muh roads!)?
This looked way way easier to decode when I first scrolled past it 😂
Maybe you're right.
I had a response written but at one moment I wondered "is this what the writers of Picard told themselves too?"
Maybe TrekCorp isn't at a place right now where they can tell a good standalone story without a clown car procession of cameos and references.
Cringe at Farpoint
I swear I remember they cut directly to Obrien and Data with incredulous "did he just say saucer sep" looks on their faces.
Any Book of the New Sun fans?
One of my absolute favorites and I'm hoping folks want to talk about it.
Hands down my most reread book. Me, an atheist, never imagined a twisty/puzzly novel about the life and times of future space jesus would speak to me so deeply.
The prose is multidimensional and layered with meanings that only come into focus once you know where it's going.
Some of my favorite examples:
- The title of chapter 1
- Severian first finding his dog.
- Thecla's story of a fortune teller predicting she would sit on a throne.
- The ending of book 1
- The ending of book 2
Any other trek fans delighted by Group of Seventeen in book four, realizing it was 10 years ahead of the TNG episode "Darmok"?
Welcome to the team
Been here 5 days and I hate it already, I understand this vacancy now.
Elden Ring DLC Boss is a doozy
My personal journey of crawl > walk > run > slap
No, I do not want to play Elden Ring, Sam-I-am.
Yall got any of that hitbox porn?
Sub Rosa
still not worth watching subrosa
When I fail to skip the intro
I really like the beginning, but it’s all downhill from there
The moral fiber of Captain Archer
I actually read somewhere that Archer did nothing wrong and afterward I began remembering all these scenes haha.
Sokath, his browser’s eyes wide open
They're the things we carry with us, the things that make us who we are. If we lose them, we lose ourselves. I don't want my
painprivacy taken away. I need mypainprivacy!
Gowron delivers every single time 👌
House of Quark is a high point where he saves Quark’s life and allows a Klingon woman to inherit her own house.
Tacking Against The Wind is a low point where he is reduced to a cartoonish mustache-twirler.
Anne Rice is a helluva drug
The movie’s still great, but the book was really that amazing.
A history of violence
Possibly unpopular opinion: Harbinger is one of the absolute best episodes of Enterprise
Who says S31 gets to have all the fun?
These episodes live rent-free in my head.
In hindsight, "the Xindi attack" was a phase change into a much more hard-boiled season of Enterprise.
They cranked it up way past 10, all the way to 24.
I wasn't ready for a 28 episode sustained descent into darkness
I look at you, and I see the person I was three years ago. The explorer that my father wanted me to be. I lost something out there, and I don't know how to get it back.
This one hit me hard after everything that happened.
Watching Enterprise for the very first time
I'm finding it a very root-beer-flavored entry in the franchise.
