But I think it's only the library that's source available and the GUI is proprietary or something like that.
How did the attacker gain your user's privileges? Malware-infected user installation? A vulnerability in genuine software running as your user? In most scenarios these things only become worse when running as root instead.
Sudo also allows for granular permissions of which commands are allowed and which aren't.

Du hättest immer (glaube ich) auch die Möglichkeit, das Vodafine-Gerät in den Bridge Mode zu schalten und einen beliebigen Router deiner Wahl ohne Kabelmodem dahinter zu schalten. Dann könntest du auch ohne Probleme OpenWrt oder OPNsense nutzen, welche soweit ich weiß leider keine Router mit eingebautem Kabelmodem unterstützen. Plus, das Ganze wäre wahrscheinlich billiger als die billigste Kabel-Fritzbox.
DNS in den Endgeräten manuell einstellen ist keine Möglichkeit?
Ich glaube am besten nimmt man für sowas tatsächlich eine dedizierte "Bio"-Seite, sowas wie https://linktr.ee/ oder besser noch https://keybase.io/. Ich würde es mir auch anders wünschen, aber aktuell arbeiten die ganzen ActivityPub-Applikationen noch sehr getrennt voneinander.

Is there a distro that has the performance characteristics of CachyOS, but based on Debian/Ubuntu instead of Arch?
CachyOS does compile packages with the x86-64-v3, x86-64-v4 and Zen4 instruction set and LTO to provide a higher performance. Core packages also get PGO or BOLT optimization.
CachyOS utilizes the BORE Scheduler for better interactivity, and offers a variety of scheduler options including EEVDF, sched-ext, ECHO, and RT. All kernels are compiled with optimized x86-64-v3, x86-64-v4, Zen4 instructions and LTO to be optimized for your CPU.
I like the sound of that for my new gaming distro, but I really feel more comfortable in the .deb ecosystem.

Das klingt eigentlich genau nachdem wonach ich die ganze Zeit suche: KDE auf Ubuntu, ohne nervige Snap-Idiosynkrasie und PipeWire, noch dazu aus Deutschland.
