To me, the giveaway is the weird facial evolution. Why would she listen to it with an angry face and then get happy? An actual person would give the first frame a surprised expression
The Redeemer, and yes, it was always awesome to find and shoot, except when someone manage to fire it off during flight
DENIED
I've had a few opportunities to play Red Alert 2 with my dad. He always obliterated me, I was too much of a turtle player.
There was one time I won against him, but it was pretty obvious to my 14yo ass that he let me. I asked and he just smiled.
I should probably challenge him sometime nowadays
Those shadows are still eating up your GPU
God, I hope that comes soon. Like, tomorrow soon
In short, it was one of the most spectacular disasters in the history of music festivals. The advertising showed that even the cheapest tickets would get some fancy rooms. Sold out quickly, but all the money was nowhere near enough to even pay for the stage + performers. The island didn't have housing and they "improvised" some tents for the attendees (they used relief tents like those you see in displaced populations). No food, no water, no bathrooms.

You see atrocities, usa govt sees free military bases near lots of oil reserves
You should ask for the OG green lantern ring, just magic

I won't read the entirety of Huxley's BNWR because I'm at work and that's gonna take some time (though it looks like it'll be damn worth it)
I wonder how he'd react to the current world, on how social media and corporate internet have isolated people within echo chambers and feed us nonstop slop. Neil Postman's book just got bumped to "next to read" for me, though it'll be a while until I finish The Dawn of Everything

Nothing is original these days. Smh
I think the "i have no mouth but I must scream" jokes will get old real quick
Just yesterday I saw a post on lemmy that said that turkish xitter users were migrating to bluesky. Didn't bother opening to see the comments or read it. Seeing this now, all I can think is "well, what did they expect?"
I've heard people complain a lot about its resource usage on the server side, that the advantages of it running on elixir are moot unless the instance has over 1k people. The web UI leaves a lot to be desired, true, but at least it's not such a client-side resource hog/browser crasher as misskey/sharkey

Hard to belle-ieve
He's quite literally Farquaad, even the hairdo
There's quite a discussion about that further elsewhere in this thread. To me, the combination of vector-like thick lines with that background color, the characters having such mute expressions and there not being one actual optimist.
Others also pointed to the "weirdness" that is the lines of the characters' arms becoming part of the table, which I didn't notice at first.
Perhaps more importantly, it does not look like the "author" has "zero drawing skill", but actually knows how to make vector art, even if relatively simple. That makes the problems more glaring

Sorry, that's my weekly allotment of pixels
You keep your high ground, I'll take the high road
Making a press mold, need some input
Pics https://ibb.co/album/sbjqwT (the weird triangle on the lower piece was fixed afterwards)
I've been messing around with a press mold so I can make hex tiles using paper mache, or something else that is easily and cheaply available.
The problem I've been having is with the sides, which rarely get properly pressed. What should I do to possibly fix this, regarding the model?
Right now, I've only experimented with minced paper and water, which led to satisfying results. What other things could I add or try for this kind of press? What could I apply on the mold to make the paper less likely to stick? Vaseline doesn't make a difference.
Yes, Firefox, PT-BR means Spanish... /s
Are there historical examples of countries or kingdoms that did a complete 180 on their old allies - not counting vassals or similars changing one master for another?
We don't have an Ask Historians yet, so I think this is the best place to ask at the moment
If I self host mastodon and matrix, and shutdown the device, when I turn it on again, will it receive all the activity that happened in the meantime?
I've been thinking of self hosting a mastodon (gotosocial, more specifically) + a matrix server on an old computer I have, but sometimes I might need to turn it off for 2 days or more (not to mention some energy or internet outages that might happen here)
I suppose with the mastodon part the server will properly sync and download whatever's been missing, but I'm not entirely sure that'll be the case with matrix. If anyone sent me a DM on there while my server was down, would it get through after it was back up?
Com big techs, PL faz seminário sobre comunicação nas redes sociais
Jair Bolsonaro, Valdemar Costa Neto e outras lideranças da sigla estão presentes; X, Google e Kwai também participam. Leia no Poder360.
I wish I had the super strength of Superman, with my entire body being able to safely deal with the increased forces
Why do we put our hands on our heads when something makes us also want to yell "NO!"
For instance, when your team misses a super close shot at scoring, or when you lose a super tense game match by a hair.

Funny, I'm pretty sure they lose their shit whenever any of these words show up in a conversation: queer, cis, pronouns, they/them
funny part about "Kamala campaign can't target men" is that they can't target men because they refuse to employ the crass humor needed to effectively target the kind of men they currently fail to target. They know what they have to do, they simply aren't strong enough to do it.
They lost because they won't say slurs. People are not ready for this conversation.
Hadn't thought of this before, but it makes sense. Men just won't take you seriously if you're offended by or scared of words.
Straight from one of the shittier parts of the fediverse.
Why can ballpoint pens fail permanently when they still have so much ink left?
Does anyone have custom rules for Pocket Imperium?
https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/147299/pocket-imperium
The game is a very simple and all about territory control. A common complaint is exactly that it's too simple. Does anyone know about custom rules or things that can give more variety to the game, without necessarily making it too complex?
You can't fight bullshit with information because each side has a very different "win condition"
The best way to understand is looking at it like a game
People that want to inform others need to explain stuff, sometimes more thoroughly than reasonably needed, which takes, say, 50 energy per answer. They also need people to understand what's being informed, this is their "win condition"
Bullshitters just need to spam shit, never need to check sources, never need to be truthful and will use all sorts of logical fallacies when confronted. It takes 1 energy to start, 1 energy to spread AND they can convince others to spread it further for them. They don't want to inform, they want to get an immediate reaction, which is often of anger towards a "culprit". Their win condition is reach + emotional reaction.
Even worse, bullshitters will hypocritically pile up on anyone that they judge to not be playing "by the rules", since they have complete disregard for rules that don't benefit them.
