Can an imagemap use relative units?

One page on my website consists of a single large image (with absolute position and fixed width) and an imagemap. I just realized that if i shrink my browser window or try to view the page on any screen that's not the same size as mine, the image and map become desynchronized.

I don't think this would be a problem if i could make the imagemap use percentage or vw/vh units instead of pixels, but it doesn't seem to work that way. It will accept percentages or vw/vh for one of a rectangular hotspot's coordinates, even mixed, but apparently one coordinate has to be in pixels.

Does anyone know a way around this besides letting the image be bigger than the window it's in and making users with smaller screens scroll horizontally?

I'm mostly concerned with compatibility with Firefox v138, but more generally compatible solutions are better.

If it helps, the relevant code for the image is:

style="position:absolute; top:0vh; left:0vw; width:100%"

and the map is:

`

<map name="map">

How can i see the file size of a page, counting media?

Does Firefox have a good way to see how big a page is with all the images and other media that are embedded in it? I know about the Page Info button, but i think that only tells me the size of the page's HTML file and loaded media separately. As far as i can tell, it doesn't measure external CSS at all. And the numbers it does give me for my own site are different from the numbers i see from my computer's file browser on my local backup of my website. So is there a good way to know how big a page i visit is?

ongoing slrpnk outage June 2025

slrpnk.net is currently experiencing an unplanned outage. the main admin has shared the following information:

Due to what appears to be a hardware failure of the main firewall router, all servers hosting slrpnk.net and related services are currently inaccessible remotely. Sadly due to work related committments the main admin can't physically access the servers for some weeks which makes it extremely hard to fix.

due to the instance being down, this post will currently only be visible from lemmy.world.

Looking for recommendations -- CD Ripper

Hey hey, I have been using Sound Juicer on my Ubuntu 24 / KDE 5 PC and it works, but it doesn't handle the tags for my MP3 files very nicely. I've also used abcde, at the terminal, and that can be better but it takes a lot finessing at the CLI to get the result I want.

Is there a better CD ripper application that will run on Ubuntu and can make setting the MP3 tags dead simple?

Thanks for any ideas!

Edit: Fixed a typo

ETA: Asunder looks good, does what I need and works well on my PC. Thanks for everyone's ideas and help!

Help me list custom keyboard shortcuts from terminal on Linux

Background:

I'm using Bazzite Linux, Gnome, Wayland. As the title states, I'm trying to list my existing custom keyboard shortcuts. I know I can go to Settings > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts > View and Customize Shortcuts > Custom Shortcuts. I want to list my custom shortcuts in Terminal using gsettings.

I've gotten as far as listing the names of the custom shortcuts:

 undefined

me@fedora:~$ gsettings get org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.media-keys custom-keybindings
['/org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/media-keys/custom-keybindings/custom0/', '/org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/media-keys/custom-keybindings/custom1/', '/org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/media-keys/custom-keybindings/custom2/', '/org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/media-keys/custom-keybindings/custom3/', '/org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/media-keys/custom-keybindings/custom4/']

How do I use this info to list the specific details (name, shortcut, command) of the first keyboard shortcut?

Pict-rs Outage

We experienced a disruption to our Pict-rs service today that caused images we host to temporarily become unavailable and new images unable to be uploaded. Those issues are now resolved and everything should be working normally again.

If you see this or any other problems pop up again don't hesitate to let us know. Thanks.

Is there a way to stop windows from grabbing attention in plasma6?

I configured steam to open on a separate desktop using window rules, but it also grabs the attention and plasma will automatically switch to the desktop it opened to. Is there a way to stop that from happening?

Steam opens 3 windows, so switching to another desktop will be reverted 3 times.

The Mod Here is a Class-A Moron 🤦‍♀️

Update - Fixed. Thanks @[email protected] for pointing out the wayback machine!

I thought it would be fun to change the community icon and banner for April Fool's Day. But I forgot to save the old icon and banner and can't change them back.

Long story short, if you happen to have the old icon or banner cached or saved, please let me know. Otherwise, we might be having a new icon/banner contest.

Sincerely,

Jenny, Class-A Moron

Looking for simple self-hosted image editor / resizer app

I've searched around and can't find this but it seems like someone must have created this already. I am hoping to find a self-hosted image resizer app. I frequently need to take photos from my phone (etc...) and make them small enough to post online.

For instance, my lemmy instance (lemm.ee) only allows images in posts if they are smaller than 500KB but my phone's photos are always larger than that.

In a perfect world, I could just browse to a local server app, upload an image, select a size to resize it to, hit Go and then download the smaller image. It doesn't have to allow any other editing and it shouldn't store images long-term. I want to self-host so I don't have to upload my images to random web sites I know nothing about.

I would be happy with a FOSS desktop app I can install in linux too, but then I couldn't access it from my phone. The Android apps I found for this either look scammy or include tons

Community icon/banner not showing uploaded image?

Right now, it shows a generic error image.

Are there specific resolution requirements, or?

EDIT: It solved itself. I guess Lemmy lags a little when propagating new community icons/banners.

How to update Immich now that I am way behind?

I have Immich Server Version: v1.115.0. They're up to v1.129.0. I am guessing there have been lots of breaking changes in that range, since that was true the last time I updated.

Is there a safe way now to update without making me read all the release notes and carefully craft my docker compose file in multiple steps to make sure I don't lose anything in the process of getting caught up?

Thanks for any tips.

ETA: Or just, how do you handle your Immich (in Docker) updates in general?

2ND EDIT: I did read the release notes. After a lot of reading, there was 1 change (updating their internal Port # for the main service to 2283) It's done. Thanks y'all. My cats appreciate you all.

If I'm not mistaken, in previous versions tapping the home button while already on the home screen would return to the top of the page and refresh. Version 1.0.198 does not do this
