  • This is the second time I hear about systemd-analyze, which is funny because the first time was earlier today in that Brodie Robertson video about that pewdiepie video...

Anyway, I checked it out and the only thing I noticed was that cups took a whole second, which wouldn't matter, except that I hardly have a printer to print with anyway, so I disabled it. (could also just remove cups I guess)

  • scraped public data from different platforms can be stitched together to infer identity, location, status, beliefs, and networks — even if no one website reveals all that alone.

If they don't use the data from the fediverse, it's only because it's too small to bother. These platforms are easier to scrape than any proprietary service.

  • You'd need a constantly growing database of all the videos on there, rechecking all of them every once in a while to see if they are still/now unlisted... maybe if you had infinite youtube api credits... maybe.

I grabbed the device from its slumber, ready to fire up a Lemmings session, but I thought I'd check the battery first...

As I pushed to open the battery compartment, the lid popped off, running for its life.

YSK: on the Lemmy web UI you can view and delete the images you uploaded

You can delete images you accidentally uploaded or don't need anymore. This can be good if you want to try and wipe them from the internet, or you want to lighten storage costs for your instance.

The maintainer updated it within a couple of hours.

    Crazy story, I know.

I can play Fallout 4 in full screen

For years I was stuck with a setup where my main monitor was plugged into the GPU via HDMI, but my secondary monitor only had VGA, for which the card did not have a port. My motherboard does have one, though. Using that basically worked... with random issues popping up both now on Linux and way back in the dark times.

One of these issues was that FO4 would not display correctly in full screen. It looked fine in windowed, but the cursor would be confined to the top left area of the screen, unless I had my second monitor, physically on the left, virtually on the right instead.

I just inherited a new card and I took the financial hit of a cheeseburger's worth for a VGA-DisplayPort adapter, and now it works just fine in full screen!

The issue is still open! The merge request seems to be almost ready. Though there hasn't been any new development since May.
