Hey all, I've been using the Omnipod 5 for 2 or 3 months now and I don't think it's going to work out. 4 or 5 times now, the cannula (the little tube that stabs into you) has fallen out, usually while I'm at my kickboxing class. When I woke up this morning, my blood sugar was high, the sticker that holds the pod on my arm was wet, and it smelled like insulin, so I thought it had fallen out in my sleep. Turns out it had started leaking and the whole fucking reservoir was empty. I'm pretty frustrated, I might just go back to using the pens.

Anybody had any similar experiences? Any other pump suggestions? As far as I know, the Omnipod is the only pump that doesn't have an exterior tube. I can't do tubes.

I’m a recently diagnosed type 1. I just got my first continuous glucose monitor about a week ago. I’ve been learning a lot with it, including seeing how many different foods I eat cause my blood sugar to change. One thing I’ve found is that popcorn works quite well to stabilize my blood sugar, particularly when I am in “free fall” from a spike.

What types of food have this effect for you?

I've just been switched from Freestyle Libre 2 to 3, and (at least in the UK) these need to be requested directly from Abbott instead of via regular NHS prescriptions that go to a pharmacist. To do this, you have to use their patient portal, so you need a password and need to go through their password reset process. The listed requirements are a minimum of eight characters, five lower-case letters, one upper-case letter, a number and a symbol, but there's either also a maximum number of characters (I typically use way more than eight) or a restriction on which symbols are permitted. If you don't meet the hidden extra requirements, you'll get a 404 during the password reset process (which isn't even the right error code for this kind of thing).

It took a lot of tries before my password manager came up with something the website was happy with, and no one seems to have written anything on the searchable parts of the internet about it, so I wasn't sure it was going to work and thought

Been put on corticosteroid meds to counter a severe infection. Boy it messes with my BG. My Insulin sensitivity is about halved so need much more to keep my BG sensible.

The doctor didn’t warn me of this, but luckily the pharmacist did so I was at least aware it could happen. Tomorrow’s the last day for it thank goodness.

Just wanted to share my recent results with people who understand. I’m so friggin excited for this report!

I’m using DIY Loop with Omnipod Dash and Dexcom G6 (switching to G7 when my current sensors run out). I give a large part of the credit to this trio. It’s such a great pairing.

As I suspect many others here are, I am also a reddit refugee. Anyway, to the point.

I am seeking advice in what I can do about the insane spike I get a couple hours after I change my Omnipod. It’s a new phenomenon for me, having only happened the last 4 or 5 changes. I’ve been on Omnipod for a little over 6 months.

My theory so far is that any new site is quite a bit longer to start absorbing insulin for some reason. I used to just have to bolus 0.5 units after a change, but to get down from this spike I ended up having 10.65 units on board, which is a scary amount for me if I don’t have any carbs to back it up.

Have anyone experienced similar, and found a way to deal with it?

Anyone familiar with the Beyond Type 1 app?

A few days ago I saw someone with a Libre sensor on their arm while they were driving by. Then, today at the pool, I got asked if my son was wearing a dexcom. She gave me a thumbs up after I said yes 😂👍 My first T1 in the wild experiences. My son was diagnosed April 2022.

Just been down to pathology for blood tests, should get the results soon.

I log all my daily tests (finger pricks) and have setup a spreadsheet to calculate the expected HbA1c result. Have had great correlation in the past between my logged calculations and the path lab results,

So to put my head on the block, here’s today’s prediction, will follow up with the lab results when they arrive.

Curious to know if there are any DIY Loopers on here. I started DIY Looping with Omnipod back when it was released (I think 2019). Been Looping ever since. Really enjoyed this recent video about DIY Loop and its origins.

Please take a few minutes to introduce yourself here. Like many, I am someone who was active on both /r/diabetes and /r/diabetes_t1 over on Reddit and am hoping to recreate some semblance of a community here. I've been a T1 since 1983 and am currently using the Omnipod and Dexcom G7 with DIY Loop. Diabetes has definitely been a struggle for me at times, but I am really fortunate that I've been able to access such amazing technology.
