What kind of car was I following?
Not the Tesla, the car in front of it, it's got a very unique tail light array, I'm thinking it's one of the new smaller ev producers, but maybe it's something Japanese with a less common trim package?
Thanks for the assist, I'm quite infatuated with it's styling.
I believe the badge was red, and there are 5 letters beneath it (so not Jaguar)
Are drum brakes the perfect fit for EVs?
Long before brands like Porsche, Mercedes / AMG and Cadillac made it trendy to dress up your disc brake parts so they'd display like jewelry from behind the car's spinning wheels, drum brakes were the norm. Back then, nobody loved drum brakes enough to dress them up for display with a splash of shiny metal and color, and past history meant that cars with four-wheel drum brakes were not known to stop very well or, be very safe.

Thousands of Tacoma tailgates are popping up on Facebook Marketplace right now, and some of these sellers? Let’s just say they’re moving an improbable amount of product if the tailgates aren’t stolen.

Spotted on the US Gulf Coast today getting gas. Anyone know what make/model this is?
The driver told me that John Travolta is busy recording Cash Out 3 on the Gulf Coast, the car is going to be in the movie, that he just came from Biloxi, and the car is actually for sale for $10,000.

Help identify this car
Edit: big thanks to HumanPerson and their friend for potentially figuring it out! It seems to be a BMW F10!
Hey there! I'm not trying to find a perp committing a hit and run or anything, just curious on what make and model this car could be!
I was following it on the interstate and couldn't ID it then, and can't ID it from my dashcam either. And was never close enough to get a clear view until he hauled ass and disappeared. I thought it was a Kia sports car at the time (k5 or stinger) but can't place the tail lights
It doesn't seem to be a kia, Subaru, Ford focus (hatchback), or Corvette to me. But I'm also not entirely sure of the exhaust placement or door count!
Here's the clip I got the screenshots from: https://streamable.com/9hu10f
Thanks in advance!
and it's fine, does what it's supposed to. I want to upgrade to a dual-camera (front and back facing) dashcam, similar to the ones used on rideshares, but something that can be mounted on the actual dashboard. I want to avoid running wires along the headliner and frame, so I prefer to mount my dashcam on the actual dash.
It works for my current dashcam because it's cylinder shaped and the camera lens can be rotated. So I just use a small square of 3M automotive tape to mount it, rotate the lens so it’s angled correctly, then just let the wire run down the side of the infotainment screen and into the 12V port.
Can anyone recommend a good dual-cam dashcam that is flexible enough to adjust the angle of both cameras while it is mounted on the dashboard? Most of the ones I've seen are designed to be mounted on the windshield, so the front-facing camera is typically fixed and faces the road correctly only if it's mounted there. The only way I

Dodge Chargers Now Have Pop-Up Ads at Every Stoplight

This garbage feature was spotted in the wild, where a Charger owner posted a photo of their infotainment screen absolutely hijacked by an ad for an extended warranty. Take a look!
Cybertruck Off-Road Lights Keep Falling Off… As the Glue Holding Them to the Windshield Fails
We’re seeing another sticky situation develop, the same day Tesla recalled 46,096 Cybertrucks to stop them from falling apart because the stainless steel panels are held on with the wrong glue. We’re seeing another sticky situation develop, the same day Tesla recalled 46,096 Cybertrucks to stop them from falling apart because the stainless steel panels are held on with the wrong glue.
This time, it’s the Cybertruck’s off-road light bar that’s flinging itself off at highway speeds. Incredibly, the light bar is also glued in place, so we are wondering if there isn’t another recall coming down the pipe.
Here is one driver whose Cyberbeast tossed his light bar at highway speeds.
What Is Leno’s Law? (California Senate Bill 712 Explained)
If it passes, Leno's Law would exempt all 35+ year-old vehicles from smog inspections in California if they're covered by collector vehicle insurance.
We have something like this in Colorado and I incorrectly assumed it was the same everywhere. I hope it goes through for California.
Kia Sportage engine seized
I just found out that Kia has a huge class action and extended warranty arrangement for select models. Because my 2016 is included in the affected group, it seems that Kia would reimburse for the new engine, but I’m being told my car isn’t on the list because I didn’t bring it in for a software update before it seized.
I’ve moved to different states in the past 4 years, and don’t know if any Kia notice ever got to me. Since I was unaware of the oil issue, the lawsuit, the recall workaround, and the update, I’m wondering if anyone knows what I could do to be reimbursed. Do I have any options?
2008 Chevy Aveo
Good afternoon /c/cars.
I'm looking to get my first car and I want to get some opinions. I'm thinking of buying a 2008 Chevy Aveo with safety certificate and the price is $2500 CAD. I'm interested to see what you all have to say about this particular vehicle, if you have any personal experience with it or any gripes.
Any help is appreciated
Thank you
Seeking Advice on a 2015 Kia Soul +
I've had this car for the last 10 years, and I'm up to about 86,000 miles. I recently had to have the catalytic converter replaced, because it was completely blocked. The dealership wanted to charge me $4,300, but an independent mechanic got me up and running for less than $1,200 with non-OEM parts. Before the catalytic converter blockage, I had tried to clean out the engine with CRC intake cleaner as I've seen done online. I'm concerned that that cleaning may have led to the catalytic converter blockage, or at least exacerbated it.
Before that, I had to have my crank position sensor replaced.
I know I have the 2.0L 4 cylinder engine, which is generally considered better than the 1.6 that is more liable to failure, but everything I keep reading online keeps me constantly concerned that this vehicle is going to fail in a catastrophic way sometime soon. After the recent repairs, it's running pretty well, and my gas mileage is going back up to levels that I expect from this car. Howeve
Retro cars and coffee
Retro Rally cars & coffee The Retro Rally festival was cancelled, which was a shame because I was very keen on it. But fortunately some folks hosted a meetup at the Lane 88 museum to make up for it. This was the first one a busy weekend I had just last month! #rallycars #rally #carshow #classiccar...
I'm definitely going to the wrong cars and coffee compared to this. In my 20s I owned a Saab 900 with a turbo (but no turn name badge) and it was far more fun than it looked. Instead of a beautiful red like this it was baby shit green and matt paint because the gloss later had been gone for years and never replaced. That's the car I finally learned the lesson that oil changes are important when it left me stranded over a mountain pass at 6am due to a thrown rod (third car I did that too)...
Thermal runaway prevents rescue of 3 victims in crash, authorities say
An investigation revealed police were unable to extinguish the flames of a Cybertruck after a crash in Piedmont, trapping three and resulting in their deaths
UPDATE: the battery fire obviously didn't help, but according to new reporting it turns out that the Cybertruck really did trap the victims inside.
cross-posted from: https://lemmy.crimedad.work/post/620960
This accident could be a scene in a horror movie.
I'm not a Tesla fan by any measure, but I edited the headline for this post. The original headline made it seem like a specific feature of the Cybertruck trapped the victims, but then the article explains it was really that the battery was burning so fiercely that the police just couldn't free them. The deadly feature of the accident was the lithium battery, which is common to many makes and manufacturers of EVs.
