  • I suggest you use Anki to learn Russian Cyrillic first. I learned to read Cyrillic in about a week, although to read it fast will take a few months or so. Once you have that in you can get going with immersion and stuff. Anki is good for grinding vocabulary but you need immersion to actually practice

  • Woah thank you, amazingly useful I'll check this out later thanks!!

  • Ah I see. I dont think its an issue where I'm currently at but yeah might be as I move, thank you!

  • Didnt know you could do so much with them, thank you!

  • I have an air purifier but doesnt seem to do that much and I have to run it with windows closed which sucks in the summer when allergies peak

Yeah I live in hazardous pollution all the time and nobody gives a fuck (I wear a mask, also for covid). How would it work, need to mount on windows? Never tried sorry for silly question

For hair down the drain I just use toxic chemicals that burn it overnight

  • Yeah I'll look for offers or buy a second hand one. Not in the US so those offers probably don't apply

Seems a bit daunting to root via Valetudo's process but I'll see. Don't want a scan of my home going to feds lmao. Thank you!!

  • Yeah I wanted to look into one that is supported by Valetudo without breaking the bank

Things you need on a daily basis / improved your life?

Wanting to get a list going on of things I need because I'm moving soon and wanted to have everything hammered down. They esentially shouldn't be expensive. I suppose can also be habits or other such things that improve QoL and maybe cost savings overall

    Thank you!!

  • CNN reports that Trump is leaning toward using U.S. military force to strike Iranian nuclear sites.

Two U.S. officials told CNN that Trump rejects a diplomatic solution to de-escalate the conflict.

  • Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, Chief-of-Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, makes his first appearance:

'All the operations we have carried out so far, have been limited operations with the purpose of warnings and deterrence.

The real and decisive punitive action will soon be carried out against the Zionist regime, with the help of God Almighty. All settlers should immediately leave Tel Aviv and Haifa.'

  • Dunno trying the same thing, feeling very trapped overall

Just trying to wind down by reading and chilling though I find it hard to do any of that when I feel in an anxious plugged in state all the time and it's been frying my brain.

    Books with healthy queer relationships?

    cross-posted from: https://hexbear.net/post/5275850

Another book request cause I'm building my library lmao (I appreciate all the requests in the last post, I'm slowly getting to them, thank you!!)

I want some books with healthy depictions of queer relationships whilst being realistic, genre can be anything, just thought it would be nice to have that in my queer literature side as I barely have anything right now (also would be nice and comfy for once to have). I dont think much literature does relationships justice especially queer ones so wanted to compensate.

Thanks y'all I love the recs

Domains owned by Nvidia, Stanford, NPR, and the U.S. government are hosting pages full of AI slop

On a site seemingly abandoned by Nvidia for events, called events.nsv.nvidia.com, a spam marketing operation moved in and posted more than 62,000 AI-generated articles, many of them full of incorrect or incomplete information on popularly-searched topics, like salon or restaurant recommendations and video game roundups.

On the vaccines.gov domain, topics for spam blogs include “Gay Impregnation,” “Gay Firry[sic] Porn,” and “Planes in Top Gun.”

Google Pixel source code not published anymore with Android 16 (GrapheneOS, CalyxOS impacted)

    grapheneos.social GrapheneOS (@[email protected])

In May, we began preparing to port to Android 16 despite our most active senior developer responsible for leading OS development being unavailable (https://grapheneos.social/@GrapheneOS/114359660453627718). Android 16 launched today and porting is going to be significantly more difficult than we wer...

And updates from the Graphene chatroom:

it [porting] is not faster than expected. we finished most of what we thought we were going to need to do already. if they had not dropped a bunch of what we need, we could be doing experimental releases soon. instead, we do not know how long it's going to take to add back Pixel support to Android 16. Android Open Source Project no longer supports Pixels. we have to implement it ourselves in a new way, different than what we have done previously. we are missing our most talented and productive developer due to the conscription situation. the kernel port is a trivial part of it and they made that harder by no longer publishing kernel commit history and splitting the previously unified kernels into 3 separate groups.

Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a and Pixel 9a share a kernel branch. Pixel 7, Pixel
