Been making internet ads more reliable for a few years now. That's literally my entire job. Making sure that ads get shown on your computer screen with as little errors as possible. I was able to handle it okay at first because it pays well and I have no ability to get another job (combination of awful labor market and low experience) but I've been dissociating hard af and have started to get incredibly dark thoughts while at work (I'm perfectly fine outside of it) the last few weeks
It's not even a fake email job, it's pretty complex and has a decently high workload too so I can't just screw around. I actually need to be able to focus deeply for hours every day which is now almost impossible because of how empty and dreadful it's been making me
Haven't quit because I'm supporting my partner as well who makes no money living their desired career
A very close friend was recently diagnosed with a liver disease so we’ve decided to quit Ms. Nicotina together. I’ve been ingesting nicopeen competitively for around 15 years, ever since I worked as a busboy and couldn’t take a break unless it was for a ciggy (thanks food service industry!!!!).
Genetically I’m fucked from an addiction standpoint. My dad’s mom is 84 and gave up on quitting 20 years ago and her mom didn’t quit until she was forced by the nursing home after she went blind and started a few fires. Both women are living/had lived very long lives but they never successfully got off the nicoco.
However, I have a good feeling about this time because this is the first time I feel I have a good reason outside myself to motivate me: my friend’s health. In the past my attempts at quitting were either motivated by the fear of disappointing a partner or my general lung performance. The former never worked out cos I couldn’t wait to cop a pack as soon as the break up hit (or a bi
Honestly I'm a lot too cowardly to do this, I just have this massive curiosity urge (yknow, autism does that) and search engines are completely useless at this. I don't wanna get banned from any Minecraft servers.
I presume there are obscure communities of people who have experience getting into the theme parks without paying any Minecoins. Some kind of hacker forums maybe? (cheating is bad!). People who discuss how not to get caught by the Piglins, who warn others on rookie mistakes and track cases of players getting caught.
I was wandering if you people of anarchistic tendencies
would know anything about where to find those discussions and read stories of people who do that
I don't really have a specific question, I'm just wondering how Laos is. Do people have any thoughts, interesting facts, or information about it?
So the context is that I've been doing a re-watch of King of the Hill, where Hank's neighbor is Laotian, at the same time I've been listening to the latest season of Blowback, which is about the area formerly known as French Indochina, but more specifically Cambodia and Vietnam. They don't really talk about Laos much, which makes sense.
In King of the Hill though, there's a couple references to a communist dictatorship in Laos. I just finished an episode where a former guerilla veteran is trying to recruit Laotians in the US to go back and fight this government. One of the funny parts to me, is that whether that government is bad, or good but poor as a result of historical conditions, I see Kahn as the kind of person who would be wooed away to the USA with Hollywood images of the American Dream. He seems to work hard, but is obsessed w
Let's say that hypothetically someone flew an fpv drone right up to your bedroom door, which is accessible from outside the building, during the middle of the night at 11pm.
When I look at other communist nations, they were invaded, couped, and/or sabotaged at every opportunity, and (forgive me, my history of China is weak) while I'm sure that China faced obstacles from capitalists outside of the country, it somehow rose up to be the power that it is today while the USSR fell, Vietnam and Korea got bombed to hell and back, Cuba was put under crippling sanctions, and surely countless other uprisings got squashed young.
Just wanted to say hi and check in on all my comrades!
I'm 16 days free of a relapse, and feeling much better! Still trouble sleeping, but lately it's been more cause Dr Barney Chopper (terrier) has had tummy issues at night. Hanging with the corgi outside on an 80 degree day and there were flower petals blowing in the wind on our walk.
Partner leaves for a business trip tomorrow morning, and it'll be my first few days alone. Gonna do some band stuff. Also OUR NEW ALBUM IS DONE IN TIME FOR THE VINYL PRESSING PLANT! If you like doom metal and/or the band Boris, ill send it to ya. One of the cats from Bongripper mastered it if that means anything to anyone. Just dm me tho cause it's on the hush hush.
Otherwise just struggling along. My partner officially moves in in August right before I leave for tour, and then I won't have to worry about rent or bills. It's tough but im hanging in there.
Idaho - when people think “racism in the United States” their minds go to the Deep South. The Deep South is absolutely pretty bad, and there’s of course the whole history with the confederacy so it makes sense that’s what we think of, but Idaho is let off the hook way too much given that it’s a hotbed of Nazis and Christian nationalists trying to form a white ethnostate. Idaho needs to be more closely linked to virulent racism like the Deep South currently is. And tbh I’ve been to the Deep South, I like it down there, it’s actually pretty diverse in many areas, if I had to live there it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world. You couldn’t pay me to set foot in Idaho.
Gen X - look, if we’re gonna do generational warfare gen x needs a lot more hate. Sorry to any xers out there but boomers have been punching bags for a while, millenials are starting to get a good amount of hate, and they’ve always been made fun of for their Harry Potter and office love, tbh a lot of mill
I haven't seen it, I've been looking for good reviews. The default thoughts are... Propaganda, classic film where Americans destroy a country and make a movie 20 years later about how bad their soldiers had it. Obviously it's got that part, but other than the ending I've heard about, is it really that propagandous?
I was with my girlfriend walking back from the beach and when we crossed the cycle pathway the cyclist riding a fast sports bike cursed at my girlfriend and then stopped to get off and park the bike IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BIKEPATH and then started shouting at us saying “look where you’re going!” and kept swearing. I told the man “don’t be so silly and rude you’re making a big deal out of nothing bro..” but he got mad and then called my girlfriend bad names. I’m a very calm person so I don’t want to hit people but I was getting angry. He ride the bike away after cursing and my girlfriend was sad. We ended up having a nice dinner though so the evening wasn’t ruined and she has forgotten already I hope so…
I just feel like he would enjoy death metal bands. I have no real proof as to why but I just get a vibe from his writings he's be into Cannibal Corpse.
I'm trying to confirm whether or not there was an ICE arrest in my community. I think it is, but someone else online said that they had it confirmed that the agents were not from ICE, but they were unable to provide any hard evidence to corroborate that
I'm having trouble finding videos, but are they required to wear vests identifying themselves as ICE, or can they vary?
People really seem to struggle to realise how different they are. Hamas is not ISIS, that should be obvious to anyone with cursory knowledge on the history of the region. Hamas, Hezbollah and Ansar'Allah are not going to, nor have the capacity to, gut gay people and women who don't wear a niqab or hijab. They are not Salafists, for the love of Christ.
The only reason people compare these wildly different groups, is because they all (at least claim to) adhere to Islamic principles.
If you think for even a second, you'd realise how ridiculous this is. It's like comparing the CDU to the KKK or even the Spanish Falange because they're all Christian, in some way or another.
It's plain ridiculous, though the liberal (and conservative) types never seem to get it.
