  • What astounds me is the number of useful idiots propagating the lies who don't even own shares.

It is inexplicable why they want to see renewables fail so I put it down to mental illness (despising/distrusting educated stances, lumping renewables with the "woke" conspiracy).

  • some reps are ejecting people for dissenting opinions

And some are refusing to hold town halls. Which would explain why he "ambushed" her. Being fobbed off by her office doesn't cut it, she needs to face the music. I understand his frustration and so should she.

Here are about 15 examples of MTG ejecting dissenters, two of whom were tased.

Here is the citizens grilling Senator Grassley about the abduction and deportation of the Venezuelans. I bet this guy doesn't hold.any more town halls (Grassley is the Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee.)

  • https://patrioticmillionaires.uk/ has none of that. The sister group.

The founder at the top of the "who are we" list, Gary Stevenson, has a current #1 best seller in the UK, gets 1.2m YouTube views per week, and has excellent credentials and has working class roots despite education and luck propelling him to be Citibank's global top trader - he quit after just a few years in disgust.

  • Here in Australia the Left overwhelmingly is kept that we have compulsory voting.

I however think it would not be so difficult to have a civics test before citizens are given licence to vote. We do it with driving after all.

    basic history, geography or civics

Or science (vaccines, climate change, statistics). Better education at school would definitely help. Half of USAmericans cannot read being 6th grade level. A quarter don't know we orbit the sun. 40% didn't know how long it takes a year to orbit the sun.

  • Do you think prisoners deserve any respect? Or do you think they are victims of genetics, bad luck, upbringing etc?

I am not sure where to draw the line for free-will or even if it exists.

We need a better public education system but that isn't going to solve much in our lifetime.

  • I can't.

He "knows" already where autism is found: in vaccines. That is what he will announce in September.

It is what he has claimed in the past, only this time he will "prove" it after 5 months of "rigorous investigations".

    The Talk

    Alt text:

A two-panel cartoon humorously shows "the talk" across generations.

The top panel shows parents giving their child the traditional "when two people love each other very much..." talk.

The bottom panel reverses this, showing the grown child giving their parents "the talk" about "when someone calls and says they're from Microsoft Tech Support."

Patriotic Millionaires say "Tax our Wealth"

Pioneering musician/producer Brian Eno talks about rising inequality and how to make the super rich pay a wealth tax. He himself has become a multi-millionaire from his art.

The bus in the background is paid for by a group called Patriotic Millionaires who also have other strategies for closing the wealth gap.

Neighbourhood watch vigilantes in paramilitary gear on the sidewalk making a citizens arrest of a balaclava clad man. There is a tiny community street library next to them.

Gary Stevenson - Inequality will widen even with Labour (UK)

I just discovered economist Gary Stevenson. He has over a million views of each weekly video on YouTube.

He is working class AF but graduated from LSE & Oxford and then made millions since 2008 betting that inequality will rise and that most people will be worse off. He was the most successful trader for Citibank but quit in disgust to reveal the scam to the public.

US Orders Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. to Halt All AI Chip Shipments to China

US ordered TSMC, not Taiwan the country. The vast majority of sales are made to US based firms so they likely have a lot of sway.

US is the major customer of TSMC, so they can order them, not to mention we protect them with defense pacts, so they might want to actually listen. Pretty sure they make some of our military grade chips as well.

Cutting edge chips are used in cutting edge military hardware. TSMC provides a lot of the chips used in advanced American weapons. Turns out a faster chip in a missile makes the missile better able to make sophisticated split second decisions.

US can order most of its allies to do anything. Remember when the US thought Edward Snowden was on the Bolivian presidential airplane and within the span of like, half a hour, managed to get all of western europe to deny airspace to Bolivia, ground the literal presidential plane and search him like a dirty drug mule? Was pretty awkward after that when Snowden wasn't even there.

Julian Assange in a European parliamentary hearing

Julian Assange in a parliamentary hearing on his detention and conviction - and their chilling effect on human rights - on 1 October 2024 ahead of a full plenary debate on this topic by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).

In his first public remarks since his release from detention at Belmarsh Prison in the UK, Mr Assange told parliamentarians: "I want to be totally clear. I am not free today because the system worked. I am free today because after years of incarceration I pleaded guilty to journalism. I pleaded guilty to seeking information from a source, and I pleaded guilty to informing the public what that information was."
