No, I believe the issue was an error in my formula/thinking. Had to use atan2 instead of cos to find the correct rotational value. Clip is a few days old, so I'm not too sure about the cos thing ^^

Help: X-Mas inspiration needed
Like every year I am absolutely clueless what to gift my loved ones (and of course always too late getting/creating them).
Thats why I'm asking you guys, for inspiration - what, if any, are you printing this year as gifts for your loved ones?
Yes, the screen is on until fully loaded. I've added a burn in prevention to my docking app, which just moves the clock from left to right and back over time.
I plan to put at least the STLs it on Printables. But I'm a bit hesitant to share the f3d files. Maybe I'm going to add different sized STLs for different phones - like the Pixel 8 pro :)
Thanks - The orange thing on top is for pushing the phone out of the dock and it doesn't light up. Would be cool though. This is my second print of this model (for my desk) - using my first one since ~1 month on my nightstand and haven't noticed any issues

Phone dock with ikea wireless charger

A few months ago, Scott Yu showcased a phone dock inspired by Dieter Rams' iconic DN40 digital clock.
That got me inspired to create my own version, featuring a wireless charger from IKEA. The charger is integrated into a panel that slides into a slot within the dock's body. Before assembling, the cable is routed through a hole in the back for a clean and functional setup.

To top it off, I even developed my own Android docking app — because, why not? :D

Webapp to change 3MF color for printables 3d viewer
I've seen a model on Printables.com (Ninja Pot by @Wilko) which didn't show the standard orange color for the whole model. This works because the 3MF file format supports colors. Afaik some slicers even support that information for multi color prints, but I'm not sure about that. There are a few solutions how to do that (a plugin for blender, another one for OpenSCAD, afaik Netfabb), but I decided to write my own. Hopefully there isn't a totally obvious solution available that I overlooked ^^
It is hosted on Github, you can access and use it through your browser.
You can "upload" (it never leaves your browser) an 3MF file and change the color of the whole model, or you can change only some parts of it.
It has three tools:
- Mesh painting tool to paint whole objects
- Triangle painting tool to paint single triangles/faces of the model
- Triangle Neighbor p

I created a web app which allows you to "upload" [1] 3MF files and change the color of its meshes.
I solely created this, so I can color my models on printables.com in its 3d model viewer. Maybe it work on other platforms too :shrug:
Why? I just didn't find a simple solution to my problem.
- Afaik color support is broken for Fusion360 3MF export,
- there is a plugin for Blender, which is a whole other beast (one of you fellow printers mentioned it in the last few days)

I'm currently working on vertex coloring and improving the UI. I'd be happy to hear some feedback from you guys.
There are still some things to figure out and fix (normals are often wrong). If any Threejs devs read this: I'd be happy to hear what I can improve, I've no clue what I did.

I repurposed the lightning element of an Ikea Solvinden lantern to fit a custom lamp shade. The lamp was created with OpenScad with a ton of customization options :D Printed with yellow Prusament PETG
