  • To be fair there are a lot of bad corn tortillas, hand made corn tortillas are so much better. Buying them at the grocery takes time to find a decent brand and when you cook them you know they are done when you can fold them and they don't crack.

  • interesting I was doing that originally but ended up staying in darktable most of my time now. the thing is I have digikam to use my photos and database off my home server so its been a little bit of a pain when on wifi or on a guest network because then digikam gets really slow. I recently just bought a large secondary drive for my laptop to keep my photos in sync there to let me use darktable while camping etc. maybe I need to setup an offline digikam for that as well

    Coast Guard Demo

Got inspired by yesterdays darktable workflow to finally export a photo. This is from a 2024 airshow in San Francisco. Im still figuring out Darktable and all the tools it provides

I used my Sony A7R III with a Nikon lens adapter and a Nikon 400/3.5 lens.

    Need help with audio

Hello everyone my buddy asked me to help him record a series of interview like videos.

I have a sony a7riii and am looking for a basic setup to record audio, preferably in a way where editing is pretty simple if i can feed the audio into the camera.

I'm thinking maybe a rode shotgun mic mounted on the hotshoe might be good enough.

The idea was going to be a room with a whiteboard and someone talking and explaining stuff.

Maybe just a small recorder like a zoom h1 placed closer to the speaker on a mini tripod would be better?

    appimage portablility across machines

Hi everyone, I have been getting back into photography lately and switched to using linux full time about a year ago.

I ended up deciding to use digikam as my photo library management tool and then edit in darktable. both applications I decided to use the appimage for easier use and to have the necessary dependencies to get things like opencl to work, (I had a hard time getting it to work with the .deb)

now I also use multiple machines and recently learned that you can create .home and .config folders for each appimage to have all their settings etc save there, and it seems that this would make it pretty portable.

would it be a bad idea to for example keep the appimages and their folders in a synchronized folder like with nextcloud to use the same* appimage across machines. I never have the same machine on at a time but it would be nice to have all the settings sync'd but im not sure it would then break something since two machines use nvidia gpus and the other uses an amd gpu

    self host pixel fed

Hello I am looking to self host my own pixelfed account just because I like self hosting and like sharing pics.

I saw there is a sign in with mastodon option on the pixelfed site and was curious if I host a mastodon instance instead, could I then use pixelfed with the same account?

I have a lemmy, mastodon, and pixelfed account right now and from doing a few experiments it seems mastodon has the best federation with both pixelfed and lemmy as far as commenting back and forth so it would be pretty neat to use a mastodon instance if that is possible
