I have a failover so it’s not a risk. And I cannot pass the intel card to the VM because the passthrough on this motherboard only works on GPU and one of the NVMe slots. The goals of this build was to put everything in one box and get the fuck off the cloud.
It’s a choose your own adventure take on the civil rights movement set in the future. Because of course society will have to deal with this shit all over again.
You know I might just do XFS in the NVME, LVM XFS for the hard drives, and just keep good backups. Fuck the snapshots entirely. I feel like I’m giving up :(.
I wonder, I want sunshine in a container doing Wayland zero copy, immich, homeassistant, jellyfin, pinchflat, frigate, and an opnsense VM. NUT, i2pd, and BitTorrent could possibly be put into containers too. If everything is a container or VM anyway, maybe I should go back to fedora but look at core instead of server.
Yes. Now you install it as a dkms module and userspace tools. The tech is fine. The maintainer is an ass is all.
Anyway I can’t get btrfs to give me what bcachefs does. It don’t do per subvolume compression settings. It won’t tier storage. It’s not elastic. I can come close to that with LVM, bcache, and btrfs but is just not very cleanly done. Bcachefs is in a wild place but it did all I wanted it to so I tried the other things and now I want to go back.
The joke wasn’t related to any supposedly saintly status. It was about superpositions. It makes equally little sense to compare his and Jesus’ hair styles.
He has brought up his parents before and there’s some overlap with his dad in symptoms and his mother has been enabling a lot of things that will not serve him well as an adult.
When he first moved in it was because he was frustrated his mother would not leave his room and stuff alone. He didn’t feel like he had his own space because she kept rearranging things in his room so he felt he has no privacy and no boundaries were being respected. As a result, he has literally never learned to manage his own space. Ever. So from what I’m seeing she did it because he wouldn’t. It frustrated him. And now we are here.
It certainly helps that having him here cuts finances in half, though he’s always late on things. But fuuuuuck is this problematic.
I’ve seen him with and without. Some days he misses doses or takes them so late he stays up all night long. Aside from removing any semblance of a sleep schedule they don’t do anything for him.
We’ve talked about sleep hygiene. He dismisses it.
I worked for a small third party AT&T chop shop once. I pulled all sorts of crap there. I remember they gave me a Dell that annoyed me in just the right way that I nuked it and installed Linux.
Others saw and word spread and they fucking hated windows 11 too. Nothing happened right away, it’s was kind of like a freak show thing. “The nonconformist found an out”. Then the network engineer said “fuck this. What distro are the kids into these days?” and nuked his dell and now we only had one person running bare metal windows left in IT. And he was annoyed he had problems when we didn’t.
So he issued a new decree that we had to use the same software our customers were using. We have to “dogfood our own solutions.” We wiped and moved back, begrudgingly.
He wasn’t wrong but that Dell ran like shit with windows. We had a BYOD policy at work that nobody actually did anything with but was technically there though.
So I bought a surface pro X second hand off eBay and brought it in.
As bad a machine as that was, it was bad in predictable and therefor manageable ways. And boss looked over, sighed, and just let me have the win.
Until big boss saw I had something shinier than he did. And they were NOT going to give him something like that as they did NOT want to provide support for it. So the X was banned from the office.
