  • So short story time… Years ago, me, the guy I was dating at the time, his step father and mother are hanging out. She says her company finally decided who to hire to revamp all their internal stuff. (Oprah said something about their blenders and now a small Ohio company couldn’t keep up with demand). I’m a tech nerd. Boyfriend fell out of her. Step father used to work at DEC. we all have our reasons to be interested.

“Yea, we hired some company called Oracle.”

All of us had the exact same reaction. Perfectly in sync. It was not one of approval.

I warned her this will end in lawsuits. I was right, they sued Oracle from what I heard. Oracle lied every step of the way about what they could and would do. They missed every fucking deadline. They tested fuck all. Nothing ever worked the way it was CONTRACTUALLY OBLIGATED to work. Because Oracle is basically a law firm that contracts tech work out to India.

She no longer works there which is why I can share this story.

  • Hey I did see that one! Weird it was hosted by something so seedy.

  • Who in fuck would be dumb enough to hire Oracle for anything anymore? They are sustained entirely by their legal department. Have you found literally anyone in the last decade happy with the end result from Oracle?

  • Meanwhile my customers are calling me up asking for help LEAVING outlook. Unprompted.

Yea, Microsoft shit the bed with this whole AI thing. Nobody wants locked into their shit now.

  • We are at a weird place right now. The original problem solved by x11 is more relevant than ever. The security model, however, is not.

  • There is a 3d printer hotend called the mosquito. The company behind it is incredibly litigious. It’s why literally the entire community hates them.

  • Dude, that’s metal.

  • App tracking was disabled when this happened. I turned it on. I had some stuff in the background but nothing that’s really reach out to anything new. The phone app, the photos app, my bank app, etc. it had to be something voyager was told to do.

  • The thing is, VPNs won’t protect your privacy much. Browser fingerprinting technology has achieved its goal. True anonymity online is damn near impossible now.

VPNs are able to help circumvent authoritarian bullshit by making the traffic appear to come from somewhere else. So states that implement laws banning what is essentially protected speech aren’t able to really be effective in their efforts because the people that live there just route their traffic outside the state the have it all bounced back in. Banning VPNs would help them censor anything they consider porn.

That’s the real danger. A teenager jerking off is not the concern. It’s the excuse.

I wonder, what if we end run this with the cheap GPUs about to hit the market once the AI bubbles pop? Just set up a bunch of Remote Desktop instances people log in to pull shit up on and stream that to the browser. When they disconnect, nuke the container and pull the instance up again, route everything again. It’s basically Netflix of a remote session. And if they ban that, it would invoke the wrath of some incredibly powerful industries.

All because naked people are scary.

  • To anyone following, I found part of the problem was a few stale interfaces cockpit lied about were still around. Cockpit still sucks. if you must use it, only tweak with it. do initial config from the CLI.

Now I just need to figure out how to keep the bridges from deactivating when the VM doesnt load fast enough for them. NetworkManager seems really impatient.

  • Give up already and install jpegVista.

  • So here’s the thing, nobody cares to verify if the AI is right.

  • Dude, there’s debate the couch even consented to that.

  • Oh finally some good news. Vance doesn’t have a chance in hell.

  • I still used leaded solder because I could never get lead free to behave for me.

  • I stopped putting it off and built a ddr4 based pc as soon as I could. Didn’t plant it out as much as I normally would and now it’s biting me in the ass somewhat but that’s always part of the fun.

  • I can paste in here whatever you want pulled off nmcli if that helps.

  • I create the VLANs off the parent interface. Then I create the bridges to each vlan and the untagged lan. Then I have the host set to get an IP from the untagged LAN and do not get IPs from the VLANs. Finally I set the VM to add its virtual interfaces to each of the VLANs and the untagged LAN.

For some reason, it’s not adding itself to the untagged lan. It adds itself to the VLANs but not the lan.

  • Okay I did that with WAN and that can work there but it’s not possible to do that with LAN because the containers need to be able to talk to those networks too.
