Serious question for Americans: how was your history education re the 1930's in Germany

I’m just curious what people like Marco Rubio and Mark Zuckerberg, who are passively supportive of the installation of authoritarianism, would have learned at school about that period in Germany.

I’m asking this as that question and not as a leading question into a discussion on today’s politics.

What is the level of awareness the average American person in their 40s and 50s on how the Third Reich started?

House Judiciary Committee votes to give Trump total deportation powers of US citizens too.

So while martial law did not come to pass just yet, behind the curtain I would argue the Trump regime consolidated a lot of really important power.

    And I missed this:

Trump exploits loophole to militarize the border; Americans potential targets of military arrests

  • If anyone is interested in the deeper story. This is not straightforward.

    • there was no announcement of death investigation. They immediately announced it as a suicide, instead of “investigation underway”, “report being prepared for coroner”, etc.
    • she was in a weird bus accident about a month ago a bit north of Perth, Australia. She was told she had 4 days to live then. She said she wanted to die, but see her kids first. This is also her last insta post. Weirdly, there were no corroborations of said bus accident.
    • This was also the last news on her socials between that hospital and then going back home and allegedly killing herself.
    • Suicide that would have otherwise coincided with lots of press attention due to her successful case settling with Prince Andrew, now gets buried in the news as it happens on same day of Pope’s funeral.

    Extra conspiraspicy:

    • Same funeral where the orange muppet (not entirely unrelated to this lady due to his Epstein link) makes yet another about face with Zelensky at said funeral so that they are definitely writing about that and nothing else.

    *takes tinfoil hat back off

  • I can tell you’ve got a very analytical mind, and you’re probably NeuroDiverse like all the rest of us here, but I think you’re wrong. The local judge is not gonna go down silently and neither should anyone in that God forsaken 50 state country.

These are all carefully orchestrated steps. Something they can misconstrue later and make sure people support the suspension of the judiciary, and the invoking of Martial law.

  • It won’t. The ones who care about the second amendment don’t care about anything else, and the ones who care about the rule of law and democracy don’t seem to know about the second amendment.

Not to mention the intellectual ones don’t want to get shot or tortured and the stupid ones don’t want to stop supersizing their meals.

They will go like the Germans did. An overwhelming coalition force liberating whatever is left of that country state by state.

Except no one will dare to “liberate” a nuclear power, and everyone will be too busy dealing with the consequences of the climate apocalypse in their own backyard.

USA judge now arrested by FBI for doing her job

Judges Are Slowing Down Trump’s Fascist Deportation Regime. Now He’s Arresting Them For It.

The FBI arrested a sitting judge in a Milwaukee County court in Wisconsin on Friday, claiming that she obstructed immigration enforcement agents from detaining an undocumented immigrant in her courtroom.

Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Hannah Dugan’s arrest is not only the latest escalation in Donald Trump’s fascist deportation program, it also marks the administration’s eagerness to take aim at any and all constraints on its power to act.

“We believe Judge Dugan intentionally misdirected federal agents away from the subject to be arrested in her courthouse,” FBI director Kash Patel in a post on X. Patel added that Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents “chased down the perp on foot and he’s been in custody since.”

April 20th... Looking like it will be interesting

There have been persistent rumours about the 20th of April.

    1. Nazi saluting people in power might want to pay their respects to Hitler's birthday
    2. it is 90 days after US President ordered a report (to complete within 90 days) to recommend if the US should declare a migration state of emergency.
    3. The way they have been braking the law and ignoring courts and go full gestapo with ICE, they cant stop now, they have to keep going or they will fail.

So I found Astro.com's read on the month particularly interesting as there are several aspects seeming to converge around that time of this month.

Obligatory this is not an April's Fools joke, but lets hope it is.

Downvote brigading via third instance hypothetical

I’ve been on a journey today trying to understand the fediverse better.

I’ll be mindful to not start bitching about certain instances.

    Here’s my example:

Is it technically possible that posts or comments still get downvote-brigaded by an instance that is technically defederated from the instance of the OP?

So let’s say instance A and B are defederated from each other, but both are federated with instance C. After a user from A posts something on C does every user from B get to downvote everything?

I’m trying to determine if the Fediverse has recourse against an r/TheDonald scenario, where one toxic element is allowed to flourish for too long and - in the case with the other site - eventually takes over and destroys everything.

If this debate has been had somewhere else, please feel free to point me there, otherwise I’d love to understand this better.

Torrential rains have caused severe flash flooding in southern Spain, leading to the evacuation of 365 homes in Campanillas, near Málaga. Authorities have also shut down roads and suspended classes in eight schools across the region. Nineteen rivers remain on high alert as water levels continue to rise, threatening further damage.

Storm Laurence, which swept through the province overnight, brought nearly 100mm of rainfall and wind gusts of up to 90 km/h. The hardest-hit areas include the Guadalhorce Valley, where the Campanillas River burst its banks, flooding entire streets. Other rivers, such as the Turón and the Guadalhorce, have also overflowed, leaving parts of Cártama and Almogía submerged.

They voted for Trump in 2024. Months later, his administration fired them

    cross-posted from: https://lemm.ee/post/57695565

    Summary

Federal workers who voted for Trump in 2024 are facing unexpected job losses as the administration implements massive workforce cuts.

Michael Graugnard, an attorney advisor at USDA, was laid off three months into his role despite managerial assurances. While he supports "government efficiency," he didn't anticipate this implementation but doesn't regret his vote.

Similarly, IRS veteran James Diaz criticizes the administration's "chainsaw" approach to cuts. However, others like Ryleigh Cooper, who voted for Trump's IVF promises, now regret their decision after losing her Forest Service job.

The layoffs are part of Trump and Musk's plan that has terminated thousands of federal workers and convinced 77,000 others to resign.

I can no longer tell what is and is not satire.

Is this a joke? What else could be under that tarp? It even has a little flap for the plug.

I feel my ability to understand satire is being attacked by reality.

And I checked the comments and its a mix of musk riding:

"I don’t understand how people get so easily manipulated into hating someone that has done so much to change our life’s. Elon is great man and is doing great things for our country and uncovering so much corruption and honestly he needs more credit"

or thinking this is a joke:

"That’s not hiding the fact that there’s a swastikar under it"
