  • I'm waiting for fantasy movies about hunting down USA vets for their crimes like they make fantasy media about hunting down Nazi Germans.

  • Meat is gross. You can taste the flesh decay and blood. I was literally forced to eat it as a child because it was so puke inducing. And I'm not talking about home made. This isn't even to mention the texture of tendons and veins inside. I swear meat addicts need to be checked. Something must be off to be OK with all this.

  • IMO always flatpak Steam. That's what I started doing and never had something not work if it worked for anyone else. They give Steam face lifts but it's till running on lib 32.

  • You won't be able to get hired by the police in at least some countries if you have any psychiatrist visits on your document so an absolute win! (Idk how true it is, I was told that by a psychiatrist when I was a suicidal teenager)

  • KDE is really neat once you realize its full potential. Sadly, I cannot send a screen as I'm nearly all out of data!

  • I live in Germany and can guarantee it's not a joke. Antifa is very much needed here.

My brain just found a solution to how a world would work for both communists and anarchists post a leftist revolution

Posting to 'grad because I don't know where that'd belong on 'bear. I hope it's OK!

I genuinely cannot see how anarchism could work large scale, but there are anarchist spaces: anarchist communes. I think after a leftist revolution the world would be generally communist, but there would be independent anarchist communes. I think that'd be a true way anarchists and communists could coexist in reality. Alongside one another but not forced to abandon their political stances.

  • The state of LGBT rights in the civilized "west". No wonder they try to pull off shit like LGB alliance to put us apart. The less of us the easier we are to kill. Literally, as terrifying as it is. Stay vigilant.

  • Shoutout to Ireland for requiring a proof of address through a bill in your name to open a library card. As a rentoid I didn't have one through years of stay in Ireland. Fuck whoever designs stuff to require proof of address, therefore ensuring the poor may be unable to ever access it.

  • I'm a bad immigrant, because I was born in the east.

  • I mean, a curse is the least they may get considering how they treat indeginous people and their country's history and present political crimes against humanity.

Where can I find side gigs for QA?

I've been working for over three 3 years in the game industry as a QA, but previously only for two huge names and now for a medium sized one. I've never done indie. I tried hitting up indie devs when I saw issues offering free help, but they were never interested. I was wondering if there was a more organized form where I could seek either low paid or even volunteer positions. Since I ditched mass platforms such as YouTube, I have more time on my hands and was thinking it may be a way to use it.

  • Should be fine! I really like Arch and Garuda promises being gaming friendly so it should treat you well. :)

Add the option to add an nsfw tag per comment

Some users want to horny post and some want to filter it out. It would resolve the conflict.

Allow disabling outbound links / add a warning

I find myself accidentally leaving Lemmy. The icon marking an outbound link isn't very noticeable depending on the image it loads behind it and the amount of user brain activity (for me it's extraordinarily low when scrolling).

Is it reasonable to drive 20 minutes x2 every day from the get go if I haven't drove a bike in ages?

Bike is estimated 20 minutes one way to work, public transport takes 30-40 minutes estimated, but in reality can be over an hour. I really want a bike, I'm waiting for landlord to finish renovations so I have space to store it without a risk of it getting damaged or being in the way of the workers.

Is it safe to go immediately to driving 20 minutes one way x2 a day Monday-Friday? I walk quite a lot, but I know cycling engages some other muscle groups. I need to cancel my public transport ticket to afford this endeavour, but I'm hyped to better my body, health AND save time.

Also, I hope you don't mind me posting here more than Chapo's chat. I want some more activity for my lovely 'gradians. <3

I'm gonna look to change my provider. Fuck this shit. Their website is crap, their form to reach support is impossible to complete and now this. Oh, and it's not even 5G. Frick this. > . <

    Commie-organized trips to commie countries?

I'm not big on travel, because I'm poor and haven't been on trip-holidays since I was a small child, however, I'd like to visit a commie country during my lifetime. Anyone knows if there are any communist organized trips? I don't want to fund libs. Also, I'm very sad with how expensive flights to China are. I fear I'll never get to visit. :(

I've also learned my Chinese friend cannot even visit me without a visa and am sad. :( (she lives in EU)

"Show/hide video posts" option akin to show read posts

I think it's one feature missing from all the text-based websites. I do not watch videos at all. I use text-based media because I cannot interact with else than text and images. It would further improve the speed at which you load the website and improve content quality for all the other people who do not interact with video content. By adding this we'd set a much higher experience standard for users.

Something about data loading seems very unoptimized. / Request for an option to disable downloading media.

I can load an entire website with videos and then load videos in 720p, but I cannot load my inbox with one notification. It should be a miniscule amount of data. I was wondering how the data downloads are being parted. Unread and All seem to be separate based on the loading icon, but are they also separate in regards to downloading them? Is the inbox being partially cached or not? Do pages get downloaded separately or do you pre-download other pages?

Either way, I feel like a way to counter it may be if users were given the option to disable downloading media unless clicked on. Maybe add an option to disable avatars too. I've seen some users having animated avatars and I wonder how much of a download that causes for me. I mainly use Lemmy on the go so on mobile Internet and I won't lie, it's been a struggle at times.

    Regarding comments sorting

Why does "most comments" not feature a time frame?

Why is there no choice of default sorting for comments?

Lemmy isn't an advertiser oriented platform. It's a discussion platform. I strictly believe default sorting by new comments and most comments being improved is absolutely necessary. I would go as far as to suggest making sorting by new comments the default and most comments (last 24h) the default for sorting feed. I believe that would tremendously improve the user experience AND engagement because they'd have more stuff to engage with. Sure, there's an argument to be made about burrying less active threads, however, the users who won't see those threads I believe to be the users who'd just scroll past them anyway.

Does anyone know how the upcoming EU laws will affect existing platforms?

I'm speaking of the thingy which made Threads not get released in EU due to its link to Instagram. Does it mean all services will be forced to allow users to only use chosen service without up selling like Google does for example? Will Messenger be forced not to require a Facebook login? Will Google no longer be able go require a Google login to play store? I cannot find anything (search engines got shittier so it might be why) and I thirst for this knowledge.
