I don’t care what people say, the most important historical event in my lifetime was the discovery and release of the lost Steely Dan tape containing The Second Arrangement

  • Oh hey, you must be the one posting anti-science transphobia that another commenter on this post was talking about seeing.

    This you:

Liberals need to snap back to reality and drop the gender religion crap that cost them the election. Sex is binary and immutable. Trans women are men. Surgery and hormones won’t change that.

The hypocrisy would be laughable if the cruelty wasn’t palpable.

  • I think my grandma’s eternal obsession with Elvis Presley, plus some of her other social quirks like coercibility, would be seen as reflective of autism by a professional diagnosis

  • It’s hosted on lemmy.dbzer0.com, which has defederated from your home instance HC. Your admin used an alt account (without immediately identifying themself as an alt of HC’s admin) to comment on that post.

In my earlier link, you can find dbzer0’s reasoning for defeding.

  • Before y’all go joining HilariousChaos communities, you may want to consider what some large instances think of the host server

  • Miss me yet?

  • I am impartial about the blurriness

  • Don’t mistake your own countrymen for categorical allies

  • Google showed no results for the comment in quotes. DuckDuckGo showed no results for the comment in quotes. Bing showed one result for the comment in quotes…. and it was a self-described incel forum; a post/comment on this forum said the comment came from this YouTube video which is no longer viewable because the account has been terminated. https://youtube.com/watch?v=Y3pdwcE534c

EDIT: Wayback Machine has an archive for this link and one of the snapshots does indeed resemble your screenshot. The video’s name was “Burger Andy gets left behind” by LivestreamFails.

  • Yes, in a comment of mine immediately up this chain, I linked to a site showing that dbzer0 has censured HC.

I felt that the HC admin was not forthcoming enough about their identity when using their alt to defend HC, since most users won’t know the name of admins of instances apart from maybe their own and even less likely those of notable instances or defeded instances. To most users, Splinter would just seem to be an average Joe on Lemmy without any particular affiliation with HC, since in their comments they did not immediately state something to the effect of “I’m an admin of HilariousChaos. Yada yada yada”.

  • Oh, let’s add strawmanning to that list

Live footage of the admin trying to do damage control:

  • implying Nazis are just a “side of the political debate”

Elsewhere in this thread, accusing the enemy of doing exactly what they are doing.

Emphasizes to the point of nausea that they are categorically neutral and unbiased

Twisting words, appeal to ideological principle (“intolerable”), and other bad faith arguments.

Yep, that’s a rightwing instance alright.

  • You’re a 2 day old account with the same username as HC’s admin. Your only posts/comments on your account are in defense of that instance. I hardly consider you an unbiased or trustworthy source based on my experiences with that instance.

  • Thank you for thinking for me. I was afraid of doing that for myself.

  • In general, Reddit has made the move that all big name old social media have made (except maybe like Snapchat? I can’t think of any other exceptions) and kowtowed to corporate advertiser money, rightwing misinformation and bigotry, and the egos of oligarchs such as Elon Musk. This is essentially done to make the fat cats in the corporation richer.

I was able to find your deleted Reddit post [EDIT: understanding now that you were referring to posts across multiple subs]. My best good faith guess [for r/frangrance] is that the mods may have considered it to be within the scope of the “No medical advice or health questions” sub rule? Navigating to even find the sub rules was difficult since the mods have attached them via a link that immediately redirects to an account sign-up page. My workaround to even read the rules was to copy the link and change the “www” to “old” and it worked.

[EDIT, continued: For r/zerowaste, the only good faith issue I can see — and it’s a stretch — is the verb tense of “[Crafting] Posts must be something that you have made yourself.” Since you haven’t yet made the fragrance in full, maybe they don’t allow WIPs or for others to help with WIPs?

I don’t see anything with r/sustainability’s rules that would apply. They do have a “No Surveys” rule but there are other posts that do solicit input and advice, so that apparently doesn’t apply to your post.]

You might find Lemmings who are happy to help with your fragrance situation on any of these communities:

The First Victim of Trump’s Trade War: Michigan’s Economy

    cross-posted from: https://lemmy.world/post/27896795

    Paywall - archive.ph link here

    Excerpt:

If President Trump’s trade war has a physical battleground, it is Michigan, where companies and workers are already feeling the beginning of an onslaught that could blow a hole in the state’s economy.

Nearly 20% of the economy is tied to the auto industry, which has become increasingly dependent on parts and vehicles from Canada, Mexico and China—imports Trump hit with steep tariffs in recent weeks. This trade has grown so large that Michigan ranks fifth in the nation by the size of its imports and exports, even though its total economy ranks 14th.

Detroit’s automotive executives have shifted into battle mode. They are stockpiling imported components, wrestling with suppliers over price increases and setting up war rooms to figure out how to cut costs.

Workers at the state’s biggest auto factories are tightening their belts, too,

New Lemmy community spaffel.social seemingly astroturfing itself with spam accounts (edit: or being targeted by a 3rd party botnet)

If you sort by new posts local to this community, you will find nearly every new post is made by local accounts that were created seconds prior to posting. For an obscure instance, this level of activity and number of new accounts joining is surely unnatural. The posts’ content is majority secondhand, i.e. taken from other people’s OCs or screenshots, with the exception of posts by made under the admin Spaffle’s username. These are all signs of a bot/spam fleet (speaking from my experience hunting bots on Reddit prior to the API change). I am not accusing admin Spaffle of doing this astroturfing, but they are a main suspect and they should tighten down their instance if they are innocent.

    Here are several example accounts:

    Peter Gabriel - Make Tomorrow

Peter is my favorite artist and he has such a great catalog of other music that I could have chosen to post here. I don’t usually listen to the OVO album, and even though it has some of Peter’s boldest explorations of different sounds and styles, it’s probably my least favorite album by him since not all of these ventures are successful. However, I think this song has just the type of sound and message for what I needed to hear for my life right now.
