My previous account was @dumblederp@aussie.zone I left it because Rowling has turned out to be a pretty shitty person and I don't want the association.

Mostly I'm just here for idle friendly conversation over shared interests.

I can get caught up in my own stubbornness on some topics.

  • Potato hash, two fried eggs and a Linda McCartney vegie burger pattie topped with caramalised onions.

  • Nitro cost more than my mobile phone plan.

  • It's not the high, it's the strength of the addiction. Nicotine is hard to kick. This has been known about since the English landed at what's become Virginia in the USA. Tobacco has a long history of being used as an addictive trade good. There's a great book by Iain Gately - La Diva Nicotina: The Story of How Tobacco Seduced the World. Which covers the history of tobacco.

That said its been easier than ever to get chop chop or even produced smoke than ever before. Same for the disposable vapes, look for a bin covered in security seal stickers and you won't have to go far to find the shop.

  • If it's already broken, you're learning how they work. And you can put the battery in the correct bin at the tip.

  • My condolences, you did the best by that cat. Vale Melbcat.

  • YSK if you talk to a surgeon, they'll recommend surgery. Whoever you talk to has been trained that their method of treatment is the preferred one. They're invested in that technique so will push what they've been taught.

  • Aggressively implement vacancy tax. It's currently set at "self-reported" per Punters Politics recent video.

  • Finally finished the fence post holes. Didn't get a jack hammer, just chipped away at it. Prick of a job that needed to be done. Felt a kinship to the priest and Edmond in The Count of Monte Cristo tunnelling my way to success. Still need to set the posts, rails, pailings, letter box and doorbell. But that's tomorrow's job.

  • In that position, going bankrupt was more likely a tactical move rather than a forced one.

  • A lot of stronger pain meds cause constipation so the laxative can be for that side effect. Avoiding bearing down aka poo pushing can be recommended to reduce stress on the surgery site. I had two hernia operations to learn this. I'm a cis male but one of my testes is giving me a bit of grief so I expect I'll need to evict it at some point.

  • On this note, I lost contact with a huge number of friends when I deleted my facebook ~15 years ago. Similar for livejournal. I handed out my email address and phone number before I walked away, but people have not used those to contact me at all.

I think people don't want to put any effort into socialisation. Getting a "feed" is so easy, it feels like you're connecting with people. You see the comments and likes. But everyone is lonely because they're not actively interacting, just passively consuming.

  • Agreed. I wrote up a massive piece on ankle sprain rehab as I was doing a meta analysis for school at the time. I eventually deleted it years later because I was getting pestered for free medical help. I continued to be pestered. There are some scripts that replace the content but I expect reddit keeps copies of the backups too.

  • I still use my permanently suspended account. I can sub/unsub, save posts and RES still works. I can't comment or message people.

  • I hope getting a cold isn't the solution to my sleep issues but I'll take what I can get for now. Puffed up glands and a sore throat for 6.5 hours sleep is a deal of sorts.

  • While I agree, it's still the behemoth of information and people discussing things.

  • It's always been time to scrap private health cover. Disgusting that it was ever introduced.

  • They're great devices. I'm for any legislation that allows the legal public use of them. Ridiculous that I can be trusted with a 1000+ cc motorbike but not a 3kw e-moto.

  • That seems to be a mighty niche list of dating prerequisites, no wonder you're frustrated. You'd be better pursuing hobbies and interest groups that share your interests. If I put that I only wanted to date vegetarian women into Jiu Jitsu I'd expect to be frustrated to. Online dating is about having a broad acceptable range of people to date, you're looking for hay in a haystack, not needles.
