  • The article and a lot of discussion these days about food prices has been focused on corporate profits. While true there is a substantially undeniable issue of Climate change really causing a negative impact on yields.

People can criticize the Carbon tax especially after Trudeau tried to squeeze more votes from manipulating it. But saying climate change isn't here and noticeably effecting people lives is a insanity from the right wing politicians.

  • It's strange the article even has a regulatory section. The two plausible regulations would be preventing developers from selling till completion and more stregent mortgage requirements.

In both cases the buyer in the article and the developers would have screamed bloody murder a few years ago. People would probably against it today.

  • Why haven't you realized that one country paying the country most likely to invade them to handle the first country's defense is a bad idea?

Probably because you made this up and I didn't even slightly suggest we pay them. Not in that comment or ever.

  • Remember when Trudeau wanted rent to be part of people's credit scores. It is amazingly bizarre people considered him to be a progressive economically.

As if these 2 private corporations didn't already control people financial well-being enough.

  • Has anyone ever brought up the fact that most of the Canadian population centers is pretty close to America and if they didn't want their northern cities have substantial collateral damage they'd have to at least protect those portions.

  • I was wondering what the other guys parents thought of their kid. Then I saw the guy is 18 and clearly trying to do the shit stirring influencer grift.

Went ahead a blocked him on all the platforms I had accounts for.

  • For a country whom just had their Attorney General justify the president being a pedophile because the Dow is up slightly you'd think they'd be appluading Eileen for getting paid.

  • Just reminder that the former BC Conservative leader Rustad was voted remain as leader September 2025 with 70.66% votes and was ousted by December.

Pierre and the Conservative backroom leaders setup their conference the same week as the Ontario Conservatives, held it in Calgary with a $1000 requirement and people needed to vote in person. Guess we'll see how democratic that process really was and people tolerance for Pierre.

  • First pinned post by the author of the article. https://xcancel.com/ByGeorgeJournal

He's trying to say last 10 year as in since the Liberal won(end 2015), but what he's actually probably using the last 10 reported years(2014-2024). Which includes some real bad end of Harper years. As far as I know the 2025 data is not available yet and in general I feel like the dude pulled the entire thing out of his ass.

Also as usual just to point out the flawed Conservative logic. Even if the graph was correct, it sure seems like a real crap metric on how people feel about how country is doing.

  • He will and given the platform he built he doesn't have a choice. If you look at his social media profiles almost all the top comments is asking him to do it.

  • I spoke to someone today that had a lot to say about the shooter's gender. When I asked if they even knew if the shooter was alive or captured they couldn't answer me.

We're in the same province where this happened. These people has lost even the most basic self preservation instincts in favor whatever narrative people tell them to obsess about

As someone who reads these things semi regularly. This one is noticeably lower quality. It says the AI use was limited to certain aspects and things were manually reviewed but this thing almost feels entirely generated.

I'll file this under Carney picking another guy that can't even show basic competency at his role. Although that may very well be intended.

  • Just a fyi your Onn 4k Pro portion is out of date. You can buy them in Canada as of mid last year, so no more region locks.

Will add that given your context you'll want to mention the 100mbps built in Ethernet port and the firmware bug that causes most usb A gigabit adapters to not fully utilize the bandwidth and there's only certain chips that will give you a gigabit.

  • Yes. The proven underlying mechanism for using collective monetary means to improve social wellbeing is effective use of taxes not manipulating people's personal investments.

  • Both the Hub and MLI are right wing sources.

They are largely subtle about it with some plausible neutrality unlike what Postmedia is today. It's pretty much the same old institutional Consertive two bits deregulation and reduction of corporate taxes.

These are steps in the right direction. But Canada’s regulatory and tax environment [still lags]

    Reframing the debate

If we want more of our own savings and capital to stay here at home—funding new plants, equipment, and technologies that raise productivity—then a more flexible and competitive business environment to increase the returns to investing in Canada’s economy is essential.

  • Couple weeks ago they had a 20% cashback with $10 off $80 sale that stacked. These types of sales is really the only time I shop there given how bad their usual prices are. I had to add some filler items to get to $80 but I was close anyways, they cancelled 1 of my items twice due to the website showing wrong stock amounts. This was in addition to it website barely being useable to begin with.

I really want to like Canadian Tire for what it once was, in addition to it being the only general hardware accessible to many rural Canadians but they make it really hard.

  • Seems like a win-win-win if this works out. A Canadian company would get some much needed business, most of the world probably feel better with that software arrangement and China could at least plausibily say they're not doing any bad things on the front.

Open source would still be the best but that's another whole ass can of worms.

Joly said there are “active conversations” on how domestic firms might complement new Chinese investment into Canada’s auto sector, including with software developer QNX, which is headquartered in Ottawa and owned by BlackBerry Ltd. On a recent trip to China, Joly met with Chinese auto firms BYD Co. Ltd., the world’s largest producer of EVs, and Chery Automobile Co.

  • People are to focused on the plausibility on the seperation. Which would be nation ending levels of bad instead of what the general existence of the group does.

If we look at America, the true MAGA segment has never been anywhere close to the majority, but the 2 party voting system and the supposedly more sane right wing voters that are willing to vote with them has brought us the America of today.

This is similar with how Danielle Smith is trying to have directly influence the judicial system. She's unlikely to succeed in this case but in a already flawed system like Trump she'll eventually be able to slip things through then we end up with another completely comprised institution.
