Not sure if it needs to be said but that's 14 years and 1 pipeline ago and we're still having the same dialogue if not regressing to something even dumber like the Conservatives saying BC should make sacrifices for the good of the country.

This chart shows while the broad numbers is the same the underlying mechanisms of how the money gets there is different.

Ultimately I think people are taking a bit of time to substantially shift their investment portfolios/strategies. People generally tend to be a larthargic for this type of thing and taking some extra time to think of about how your life saving should would be considered prudent especially given the times. I imagine 2026 will look even more different and even when Trump's out of the picture he's most likely permanently pushed some money out of America.

Pierre Poilievre wins leadership review with 87.4% approval

Kinda crazy if you think from a Conservatives perspective.

You get to listen to 2.5hrs of how the last 10 years in Canada has been hell on earth due to the Liberals. Delivered by the guy who somehow lost one of the easiest election ever and extended your suffering.

Then the guy tell you to bring him back and the crowd applauds.

Will say given how things went down. Pierre and his supporters seemed to stack the deck for him to win.

Certainly seems more believablet that some MP's were waiting to jump ship if Pierre came back.

We just spoke to Sebastian Skamski, Poilievre's former spokesperson, for some initial reaction. He's even more definitive than Outhouse that this sort of result will quiet the naysayers and put to bed the idea of any more MPs defecting to the Liberals .

I believe this is the paper that being referenced. Not sure since the article does not link or directly attribute the references beyond the author's name.

Just to be straightforward with this quote you'd would be much better served as a human being to not fully believe any politician. But if we're looking beyond just the rates and include the volume traded with America and the ambiguous nature of whatever "best deal" means than this isn't really isn't much to pick at.

Just to elaborate on 2 things. Even by language this is 100% clearly not tied to affordability but some trickle down nature of it.

Carney said he will direct $500 million from the government's Strategic Response Fund to help food suppliers "expand capacity and increase productivity."

It means food businesses looking to make capital investments to help strengthen their supply chains can apply to have some of those costs covered by the fund.

And to provide context for the 20m. It's about $3921 per food bank.

Food Banks Canada is a national charitable organization representing the food bank community across Canada, supporting a network of 10 Provincial Associations and over 5,100 hunger relief organizations in Canada.

I just want to point out when someone says both sides is the same they're likely a massive moron.

But when someone says both parties(Liberals & Conservatives) are the same, this stuff gives them a lot of credence. And yes Liberals is clearly more socially progressive or at least not regressive but it really doesn't hold up when they do stuff like this.

Did anyone else read the article and find essentially zero mention of how union gains were made in Alberta. It essentially recaps how Smith got away with using the Notwithstanding clause then the pro's of unions.

The only mention is pretty much a slightly reworded version of the title.

Trump threatens 100% tariffs on all Canadian goods if Canada 'makes a deal with China'

I was thinking he'd have at least a quiet week or two after the EU mostly called his bluff.

Our deal with China was barely dipping our toes in the water. If Trump doesn't get anything substantial from Carney he'll probably lose significant ability to try anymore power plays on larger countries for the rest of his term unless he actually starts invading more countries.

Domestically he's starting to see some real pressure so he is desperate for a win.
