  • Idk how anyone does anything else. It’s in the corner, easy to hit…. It’s basically only a modifier key, so it will do nothing but wake the computer.

I don’t want to type a space, or accidentally close something.

  • My wife uses a panty liner when a period is coming up. For my wife at least, it usually comes on light at first and she has a chance to notice when exactly it hits by checking the liner. And once it actually starts then the tampons are used in addition to the liner.

  • I believe google maps pulls its data from municipalities setting up and streaming realtime data using this: https://developers.google.com/transit/gtfs-realtime

For my city, I was able to pull this GTFS data into my home automation system to show next arrival times for a couple of convenient stops near my home.

Dec 27: PPB called to scene for Target burglary, kill suspect.

Article goes into the suspects criminal history, which does involve weapon charges… but it’s unclear what exactly happened the night of that lead to his killing.

We should keep an eye on this, and all uses of force really.

Good new book written for an ADHD reader

Started reading this book by an ADHDer YouTuber I’ve been watching, and I think it’s really good so far. Only stop reading at page 42 cuz my wife turned off the lights for bed.

    Anyone else reading it?

What Bitwarden alternatives should i consider if for Passkey support is important to me?

I’m hearing people really love 1password. I believe they also were the first ones to come up with a mobile-friendly implementation prior to iOS/Android support for third party password managers.

Seems like 1password has been and is on the ball as far as having the freshest features the fastest.

What could my upstairs neighbor possibly be doing to make this much noise?

Their foot steps sound like they just have 2 pegs for feet… they hit so hard.

And they frequently, almost daily, spend the entire evening stomping around the entire footprint of their apartment.

Are there people who really just get the top floor, and think “I’m so smart, and everyone else can get fucked” then proceed to make all the fucking noise in the world?

Where can I find detailed pollen information?

I'm hoping there's something decent available for the area, I've been scouring the internet and all I'm coming up with is:

    • Sporadic data from a couple of sources on National Allergy Bureau
    • Paid API's with questionable accuracy, since they offer 'hyperlocal' information for the whole globe.
    • Daily information that is super vague

In San Antonio, through the NAB, there was a daily M-F report with detailed allergen info. I really want that for Portland.

I want to know which specific allergens are in the air to help me figure out why I've been producing copious amounts of mucous this week, and be able to plan outdoor activities / meds with ample information.

Has Spotify abandoned the AppleTV app?

I got an email about the new TV interface for Spotify, it said it was for TVs, streamers, consoles, etc.

I open Spotify on the ATV and it’s the same shit it’s been for years.

    They never implemented lyrics either.

I like it too much to move away, but this kinda pisses me off.

    Difficult touch targets

I struggle to click on anything that has a height of 1 line of texts. Short comments, post titles… other stuff

    It’s actually pretty aggravating.

Idk what the solution is for this, but it’s a problem I virtually never had w Apollo. Is the touch target only the line of text and not inclusive of the padding around the text?

How do I get my Sonos Play:3 to show up in Homekit as a mediaplayer?

I've got Sonos showing up in HomeAssistant, as a media player with all the expected controls and info.

I tried going through the UI, creating a new homekit integration, accessory mode, selecting just the 1 single sonos to be included.

This yields me a series of switches in the Home app on my iPhone.

I've tried adding the sonos through an accessory mode entry in yaml to make it mascarade as a TV and a Receiver, but each time it shows up as a "TV"/"Receiver" in the home app, but with only a power button.

I've read through https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/homekit none of the troubleshooting tips helped, I heeded all info I could find on media_players, tv, and receivers.

Can any one help me with this? It seems like it should be possible, I really wan't expecting this to give me the trouble it has.

Ultimately I just want to be able to control things like play/pause/skip/volume via siri, if you've got other suggestions to that end, I'm all ears.

Repeated "Your Apple ID was used to sign in..." Emails that I did not trigger

The emails look legit, came from [email protected], don't even have a link in them to reset password, just a plaintext url to access appleid settings if I need to reset password.

    Dear <>,
Your Apple ID (<>) was used to sign in to iCloud via a web browser.
Date and Time: October 21, 2023, 10:30 PM PDT
If the information above looks familiar, you can ignore this message.
If you have not signed in to iCloud recently and believe someone may have accessed your account, go to Apple ID (https://appleid.apple.com) and change your password as soon as possible.
    Apple Support

I have 2fa enabled, and haven't got a login request any time I've got one of these emails.

The password isn't used for anything else, and is complicated enough that I highly doubt it was bruteforced.

The only other thing of note, is that around the time I started getting these emails, my windows machine prompted me a couple of times in a couple of days to re-sign-in to the iCloud desktop app.

Where's all the drug treatment and harm reduction?

I rewatched an old but good video on the war on drugs. And it reminded me, that tlaw enforcement is AT BEST 1 step ahead of some criminals. But that the criminal element is always rapidly adapting, and the best thing we can do against drugs and crime is to focus on the demand side.

We legalized the drugs, but didn't do the more important half of that solution, treatment and services for the drug users.

So, why aren't we doing more? Who dropped the ball? Are we doomed to just keep throwing more law enforcement at the problem?

Comment Reply Notification not scrolling to comment

I’m often participating in multiple conversations at once. So it’s particularly necessary to go to the original context when reading a comment reply.

However, when I get a new comment reply, I click on it in the inbox to go to the context, it appears to try to load the context and scroll to the right spot but if the thread has more comments than fit on a screen, then it just scrolls down one page, and stops scrolling before loading/displaying more comments. This means I have to do a lot of scrolling before I get to the highlighted comment.

    It’s actually quite annoying.
