  • Der Emissionshandel war ein großer Sieg von big oil, tatsächlich. Denen war von Anfang an klar, dass die Politik da einknicken wird, da der Emissionshandel viel zu volatil ist.

    Die Alternative wäre eine co2 Steuer gewesen, die extrem simpel einfach langsam ansteigt. Das hätte den Firmen langfristige planungssicherheit gegeben.

    Jetzt, wo der Emissionshandel „scharf“ gestellt werden soll, heißt es auf einmal, uh, ne, das wäre zu teuer.

    My point is: the power should be with the people, as you said. Capital creates power. So let’s use a wealth tax to distribute it back to the people (and improve their living standards, drastically, while we are at it).

  • Money is not the problem. Money is being used to translate the value of the real resources that the Uber rich hold.

    They don’t hoard money. They hoard companies, houses, stocks, bonds, debt.

    When you work to create a surplus? It goes to them. When you pay your landlord? It goes to them. When you pay taxes? Believe it or not, it also goes to them through the form of interest debt.

    You gotta weed that shit out at the root. Tax wealth not work.

    I tried playing it (before it received all the awards); and honestly, the pacing was all over The place. One minute they’re experiencing horrors unbeknownst to man (in a cut scene); the next minute, they’re quibbling one liners like they’re in a sitcom.

    The game never quite clicked for me, I guess.

    Lots of people are diving into history for this one - I think the answer is much more simple (and stupid).

    The people are racist against whomever because they are told to be. Living standards are declining across all western civilizations (fastest in US and UK) due to a staggering rise in inequality.

    Now we can’t have the populace going for the uberrich, so we need scape goats. And those are: foreigners, the poor and the sick. The media tells them to hate these people; and so they do. It’s as simple as that.
