All of It.

  • I thought the fan theory was the route included a near pass by a black hole or something, and 12 parsecs would be the shortest "sane" route that didn't either

    1. Require bravery/luck verging on stupidity
    2. God tier course charting to get the orbital routing just right

So to do it in less than 12 would just be generally unheard of

  • That's a bit of a leading question, as if I advocated for single use Plastic specifically.

I'm not a food health scientist so I'd leave it at: as a consumer I want whatever keeps people safe, and is of the least impactful material. Commonly that's plastic, but as we see with glass bottles, options exist.

  • I'm not denying any of that but this community and others had much more friendly us eu relations just a year ago (edit compared to closer relationships with Russia...ever?) I'm just sad about that, not calling it uncalled for or something

  • I'm all for packaging minimization but I also acknowledge that if I, the consumer seek single serving products, I'm pretty glad they are food safe and isolated. This is the part where "reduce" in the recycling slogan can manifest: what's the absolute minimum packaging needed to keep a consumer safe?

I'm not saying companies shouldn't ever be responsible for their packaging waste, it's a good idea. But I think municipal trash is meant to be that answer, in that rather than every company managing their own streams of returns, the locality does it, and sorts them by general type for efficiency/efficacy.

Therefore I think it best to factor waste costs from the company into that centralized system, so efficiencies of scale can manifest. This allows for better oversight and lower overall costs. The game is not allowing companies to be absent from this stage.

With acknowledgment that increased costs would land on the consumer one way or another, I'd conclude by saying centralized waste management needs to be better funded, and more sophisticated recycle/reuse systems implemented with those new funds.

  • Which is why I said I was sad, I'm acknowledging the moment that we deserve isolation when we should be brothers with the eu/Europe

    Edited original for clarity

Edit you think I thought North America was part of Europe, or that the US was a member nation of the EU? Why would that possibly be my point?

  • American here. I'm legit sad that we aren't represented among our brothers, we lost the right due to our behavior

It feels like we called Grandma a bitch at Thanksgiving dinner and the cousins just threw us out

Edit for clarity: I'm not suggesting the US is part of the EU, instead highlighting that we are distantly APART from Europe now (because of our current behavior) and that sucks.

Final edit: this was either poorly worded or poorly received. This was an American speaking to a generally western, freedom loving shitposting group of planefuckers, where I was lamenting the state of American relations with Europe, and that a group of former allies feels the legitimate need to band together in a time of American fuckery.

I'm sorry some took this as butting in or assuming to be a member of the EU or something. It wasn't. It was an acknowledgement of a low in relations, and this American's sadness in that.

    Canards are sexy.

  • But that doesn't make sense, one beer a week is absolutely not triggering chemical addiction. At that rate you could attack any ritual behavior, or regular consumption of anything beyond nutrient paste and water

To me the important distinction is between chemical and behavioral addiction, habits and compulsions.

  • I would give Bernie Sanders a blood donation no question.

Edit I would give him a blood marrow donation no question. Aware of the discomfort and recovery.

I would legitimately consider giving him a kidney, after certain private conversations and understanding.

If I can source him a nice kidney, lemme call my guy

    Organized some old clothes today.

I'm not much for shopping or fashion but I realized my closet had a bunch of literal decade plus old button downs and sweaters and such I haven't worn in many years.

I bagged a few for trash that are beat up, bagged some for donation, and vacuum-space saver bagged the few worth keeping but currently uninteresting.

So nice to not have to wrestle to get useful, regularly worn things stored in my pretty-small closet.

    Random thought about snow

For many places that are used to seasonal snow, there could likely be a day in our lifetime, where folks see their last blizzard. Their last big snowfall.

Makes me cherish the cold and the snow even more.

Edit hope random thoughts like this are ok here.

I was just banned for a comment that was critical of kamala Harris, critical of Hamas, pro Palestinian civilians who are suffering genocide from the Israeli government

"Rule 1" and I didn't even use a slur or anything.

Quotes incoming, have to copy paste

I wish there were more articles about tech not tech biz

Just seems like everything is "this company did this to their employees" and less about "this novel messaging protocol offers these measured pros and cons." Or similar

And yes, I could post things, but I'm referring to what hits the top, 12h.

Can anyone rec communities with less of a biz and politics and wfh vs in-office vibe?
