  • Same boat. I love my switch. Their direct said all the right things. New Mario kart looks great. I have faith meteoid and that new dk game will be fun. But the pricing makes it a no go. There's just no way I'm going to pony up that much for one game.

  • I think it looked great. More variety, bigger races, a world to play around in, etc those are all winning ideas from where I'm sitting. Adding something like wall jumps fits in the Mario universe and could add some interesting skips on courses and things. I was very excited after that trailer.

Of course now that pricing has been revealed, all of that excitement has been sucked out of the room for me. I've got a Steam Deck in the mail right now and that's probably going to be it for me this next gen. Metroid 4 for the OG Switch might be my last Nintendo purchase

  • They're not the only company pulling this but at least they put up the disclaimer. I got a "free delivery offer" on another app a few weeks ago. Logged in, made my order, noticed it was higher than when I order pickup on my way home from work. Look closer, and sure enough, there's no delivery fee but all the item prices were higher. It's bait and switch and should be illegal.

  • Not that I think anything in the Bible can be taken at face value, but especially numbers and doubly so, the number 7.

World created in 7 days. Forgive others 7 times or 70*7. Etc etc. There's no reason to believe the law of the land was literally a 7 year limit on slavery.

  • I get it. I would still rather it just apply to gas guzzlers. Let electrics get a foot hold. To get vehicles off the road let's embrace work from home policies again, instead of forcing everyone to commute in traffic.

  • Car culture does suck and ideally we could move towards urban areas being much less car dependent. I think we agree there.

Increasing the cost of new vehicles, which are already too high is only going to incentive keeping cars that produce comparatively more emissions on the road. We should be incentizing replacing old gas cars with newer electric vehicles while also working on public transportation and walkable areas where possible.

  • It's been a few years since I ran through B5 but I hold it in the same class as TNG. It's got a questionable 1st season and some weird episodes throughout but overall it's good television that, for better or worse, still relates to the world we live in.

    10x10 Challenge 2023 and 2024

It's that time of year again. A time to reflect on the last year and look forward to the next. In 2023, my partner and I decided to undertake a 10x10 challenge despite having two kids under 5 taking up a lot of our time.

We made some minor adjustments to the 10x10 formula to fit our situation better. Instead of a single game, we included a small games category we could check off every time we brought out a game like Fox in the Forest or something similarly light and quick. We included a family game night category so our 4 year old could mark off things every time we suffered through played a riveting game of Candy Land. Finally, we included "game nights" as a category in an attempt to make the time to invite friends and family over for games, or to get out and attend other friend's game nights.

To track everything I made up a chart to keep on the fridge and color in every time we played a game on the list. As you can see below, we did not finish our 10x10 challenge but we did h
