He was indeed… I’ll just leave this here. Mr Rogers

OMG - This game gives me flashbacks to my Netrek days: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netrek

This is what I do… find a comfortable position, then start relaxing all of your muscles.
Start with your toes .. given them a wiggle and relax them. Slowly move up your body into your torso… then down your arms, and finally your neck and head.
I’m usually out before I get to my arms.

Took this the other day a bit before the rain moved in.
Clouds

Took this the other day a bit before the rain moved in.

And this surprises anyone?

Incredible rainbow tonight

Amazing and intense. One of the best I’ve ever witnessed.

Second this

Non-cloud cams with an nvr all the way. I won’t touch the cloud based services. My go to is currently Reolink.

Self published: Louise and Albert

My brother has self published a book about our family’s history. This book has been a work in progress by multiple family members over decades, but it’s finally done!
Below is a copy of the description from the linked website.
If you enjoy WW II history and live stories, you might like this view into the past.
———————————-
Louise and Albert is a vivid portrait of life, love, and World War II in 1945 through the letters of Louise (Glasner) Reeves and former United States Congressman and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Lieutenant Colonel Albert Reeves, Jr.
As Albert dealt with his challenges in the China-Burma-India theater during World War II, Louise dealt with the rationing challenges and fears of never seeing her husband again while running a household, raising their two children and expecting their third child.
The book also chronicles the family’s efforts to battle corruption in Kansas City and Albert’s time in Congress,

This is neat.. I just tried “faceting lemmy” and my community came up on top.
Permanently Deleted

This is me almost every morning around 5am.. 😭

Yep, Reolink app pulls from your nvr… I think the only use of the cloud is authentication purposes. So make sure you have a good network connection. 😉

I have my entire house perimeter covered with them. Have I integrated them with HA? No. I don’t feel like I need to. The mobile app and notifications works well for me as does the desktop app.
The only time they acted weird was due to a spider web going across the lens. At night with wind it would trigger random motion alarms. My own damn fault for not cleaning them more often.
Edit: One last point, having the recordings local instead of the cloud is a big plus for me and their NVR works well.

I found it entertaining but a bit shallow in terms of dialog. It felt aimed at the younger crowd. Don’t get me wrong it was most definitely a fun read.

Thanks for the suggestion! I had no idea that community existed. I just cross posted.
Morning reflection

Reflection of the sky this moring off of my pool.

Hahahahaha … I got a few drops… drenches? Not likely. Send us more!!!

Under hobbies, I run a community on gemstone faceting that I'm trying to get some traction on, can you add this to your list?

Is there a live thread for Ukraine updates like the world news one on that dumpster fire of a service that shall not be named?
Title says it all, just trying to find a place to see status updates…

This reminds me of my dad and grandfather having good natured arguments about who was going to pay. It would last a good 5-10 minutes, with one of them ‘winning’. It was all in good fun, and the wait staff usually had a blast watching.
In reality, they alternated who would pay, and did this mostly for fun.

Just checked lostsouls by hitting port 23, 22 players online… a bit sad… I remember when there were at least 100-200 online at once.

LP was the initials of the developer. What was cool about LP muds was the ability to code new areas/weapons/etc directly in the game. You, as a wizard, could create a new area and load the objects and interact with them immediately.
More info on this wiki page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LPMud

Anyone remember LPMuds?

A post in another community reminded me of my deep dark past. A time where I helped build an LPMud from the ground up. Lost Souls. Amazingly this MUD is STILL up and running after more than 33 YEARS.
I'm no longer on it, or even have an account. In fact I think they blocked my username along with the other wizards who were the original builders to preserve history in some fashion. My username here is the same as it was there. 😀
If you have ever played a MUD, check it out. If you haven't you might want to dip your toes in and see what it's about. If you do decide to hop on and the user Chaos is online, tell him I said hi. 🙃

Looks maybe like a pheasant?

Will there really be a big influx of users on the 30th?
I’ve seen many comments and posts regarding the API fiasco on Reddit, with the claim that there will be a huge influx of users when that happens. I’m all for it, but I find it hard to believe that the average or even above average user will make the effort to switch.

Design I call starburst in amethyst.

I consider faceting an art form, so I thought I'd share with this community. I'm posting step by step how I cut stones over in c/faceting
