I agree that Tucker is an anti-semite, but being a white nationalist doesn’t necessarily imply being an anti-semite.
There’s a whole country of Jewish white nationalists.
Northern Hospitality
I’ve never been randomly shouted at by store owners in DC?
Like how the fuck do you even argue with the “Jews control the government” people when this happens? Obviously it’s not true but this is exactly what it would look like if it was, so what are we even supposed to say?
The mother of an American worker said her son was held at the worksite for 11 hours and told her agents took workers’ cellphones to prevent them from calling family or filming and forced them to erase cellphone video of agents at the site.
The woman said her son told her agents marked the men’s hands with ink to distinguish their immigration status. She spoke to the Associated Press on condition of anonymity because she feared reprisals from the government.
It’s wild to me that when they have full power to change the law they’re still incapable of following it.
Will there be any follow up on this? Will democrats, if and when they return to power, actually prosecute agents and members of the Trump regime who’ve broken the law? Certainly not, but they could and should if they wanted to.
Like, why not pass laws to make it so the sketchy shit ICE agents are doing is actually legal? Ban filming law enforcement, asking law enforcement to identify themselves or show warrants, shit like that. You have full control over what is and isn’t “legal” and you still can’t avoid breaking the law? Are you fucking stupid?

I agree, I definitely don’t want the long ones removed those ones are all gold
Oh yes the totally existing convenience stores that offer $15 an hour and overtime. Definitely not closer to $10 an hour maxing out at 35 hours to avoid paying benefits.
Yes, but if you’re anyone who works there who actually depends on a paycheck from NYT to pay your mortgage, that wouldn’t be the pressure you feel.
The billionaires do not actually fund NYT in a substantial way. The money that is in your paycheck as an employee there is coming from middle class liberal subscribers.
I would think that those people would feel some level of pressure to not drive away their entire readership base and eliminate the utility of their own job.
Which is more useful to you as a manager at NYT who has an interest in NYT and your paychecks continuing? The billionaire class (who hates you and also doesn’t actually give that much money to NYT) or the middle class liberals who pay for subscriptions to read that garbage?
72F/22C. If I’m gonna be generous and give a range, 68F/20C - 76F/24C
Also damn you can fit like two whole degrees of Fahrenheit in a degree of Celsius
Tbf they are quite literally a non profit and a charity
If I were the Liberal Paper of Record I would try to ensure some level of future stability for my paper as a going concern, and not turn away my entire customer base.
Especially in an increasingly unstable media landscape where even the big dogs can barely afford to keep their doors open after the death of print media
So you’re arguing for an NTSB style approach, where it’s not about assigning blame to a person but finding what parts of the system led to this and addressing those, such as “Cutting funding for weather warning systems”?
That must be what you mean, right Governor Abbott? We’re not gonna blame a person, we’re going to implement systemic change to ensure this can never happen again? That must be what you mean.
“Maybe the country that doesn’t have genocidal ambitions towards us and every other Muslim majority country is the better partner”
If any country wants to become the world leader in scientific research over the course of around 5 years it would be shockingly cheap and easy to do so
The NIH’s annual budget before these cuts was less than $50B. NSF is about $10B. Spend like $50B on building new facilities across your universities, and start a visa program that’s basically “If you had a research grant cancelled by the US we’ll give you a new lab and fulfill your grant here” and a parallel track for lower level researchers (grad students, techs, etc).
Congratulations, you’ve now become the leading producer of scientific research in the world for like 1% of your national budget. You can probably do it cheaper if you’re China and actually control supplies and manufacturing.
If you’re a small country, pick something specific you want to be the leader on and just do that. Open a new Neuroscience center and offer easy visas to neuroscientists. Shit like that.
The US doesn’t actually spend that much on scientific research, most countries have just neglected it entirely and relied on the US. Scientists love to be courted and a lot of them (especially the lower level ones) care more about doing their research than staying in the United States, and would happily leave if their research got funded.
I just moved into a historic house in a cute little town where I can walk downtown and my spouse can walk to work
House was built by freed slaves right after the civil war which is cool

Bicycle Advice
Hello friends my spouse and I are moving to a relatively bikeable town but neither of us currently own bicycles (on account of not wanting to die on a rural highway). I know nothing about bicycles except for how to ride one.
Anyone have advice on what we should be looking for for bikes?
Details:
Spouse will be biking to work most days, about 15 minutes. They have some disability issues though and I think an e-bike would be really helpful for them to make the ride easier.
I will be driving a long distance if and when I get a job, but would still like a bike for around town, on weekends, running small errands etc. Grocery store is about 10 minutes biking, it would be nice to do a good amount of grocery shopping on bike. Hopefully the next place we move I’ll be able to bike to work, in which case I’ll definitely want an E-Bike because I’m the sweatiest person alive, so would ideally want something I could retrofit to an E-Bike if that’s a thing you can do?
