  • Very light bleeding that sometimes just leaves spots of blood rather than an actual flow, if that makes sense.

  • It depends on the person, for me I think it stopped immediately? I might have had one light period or spotting after that, but it stopped pretty quick.

  • Totally situation dependent. For someone slightly over the line in a parking lot, uncalled for. For someone blocking my driveway or in a hypothetical parking spot I pay money for, finding a free condom and not a tow notice is pretty polite.

  • Batteries have been the one technology in my experience where ‘5-10 years out’ predictions by scientists have actually consistently come to pass. The batteries I grew up with were shockingly trash, taking half the day to charge if they recharged at all. In hindsight, the amount of batteries we just casually threw away because they were intentionally disposable is incomprehensible.

  • I honestly assumed a ton of ‘waste’ mercury just got dumped into the ocean before we knew that was bad. Which I guess is sort of what happened, it just went through the atmosphere first.

  • Gonna be a fuckin’ explosion if it doesn’t happen soon.

  • Free education and care for all children

… is not happening right now in California. Kids under 4 aren’t eligible, and are also more expensive to find daycare options for. That’s not going to get fixed by driving a bunch of daycares out of business.

The solution is obviously more state run care for younger children, but that’s not what exists right now. So it’s going to be a problem if a solution isn’t passed before these daycares start closing down.

  • but I remembering hearing somewhere that pre-recorded messages on trains/subways/in stations tend to use feminine voices for information, and masculine voices for instructions.

Dunno if this is still the case, but this was definitely true of the subway system in NYC when I lived there.

Female voice: the next stop is [x] street

Male voice: stand clear of the closing doors!

  • when I just point out this deeply funny statistic

Clinton being unable to gain more than a 1% lead on Obama despite having an entire extra state to count votes from is indeed deeply funny, but not for the reason you think it is.

If you can’t make your point without trotting out a line aggrieved Clinton stans have been carrying around nearly 20 years, maybe you should stop doing that. Especially since it undermines the point you’re trying to make: the DNC choosing anyone other than Obama would have been an actual example of them putting their fingers on the scale.

Or you could just stew about how good you are at communicating and how bad everyone else is at understanding, seems to be working well so far.

  • Purple on black, friend of Jack.

(Jack is a trans man. Nonbinary people are his friends in times of peace and war)

  • In the history of DNC, there was only one time when delegates didn’t chose the same candidate as the people, and that was when Obama lost the popular vote to Clinton by almost 1%.

lol, why is it almost always aggrieved Clinton stans?

Incidentally, the Clinton bit is such a stretch it’s fair to call it a lie.

Q: Did Clinton win the popular vote?

A: Obama won more votes unless you count Michigan, where he wasn’t on the ballot.

The fact there was a mere 1% difference in the votes she received despite her getting an entire extra state compared to him shows how wildly popular he was. Ignoring that would have been choosing a different candidate than the people were choosing; they didn’t make some incredible decision that paid off because they know better than their voters, they just knew what would have happened if both their names had been on that ballot and knew which way the wind was blowing.

  • But the idea that the Democratic governor of California isn’t liberal enough is just laughable.

Tell me you don’t understand California politics without telling me you don’t understand California politics.

  • Anyone that would say that to a student who turned up to learn has no business teaching. You don’t take funding problems out on students. It’s not the teacher’s obligation to self fund their classroom, but many do it because often nobody else is. Reading someone talk about that and the message you decide is important to share with them is ‘lol you’re paying your employer’ is weirdo behavior.

  • They’re pretty obviously supplying it for their students, not their employer. Weird as hell to rub someone’s nose in the fact their students are trapped in a school system that doesn’t even supply teachers with proper access to printed materials. Even Reddit used to run a donor program to help teachers out with the costs.

  • When we got our current kitten, we faced the TP roll backwards, since this wasn’t our first cat rodeo. He ‘solved’ the situation by biting the roll and tearing it off the holder to shred.

Now the TP lives in the cabinet.
