  • I haven't seen anything like the current actions before in Israel. Previous to the Oct attack response, the only significant calls for genocide in the area came from Muslims. Israel treated people in Gaza terribly, and illegally kept expanding their settlements. But it was nothing like any conventional use of the word 'genocide' would be. Things changes throughout '24, but it was a slow transition and with all the lies on both sides, it wasn't clear until the end of December how much Isreal had gone off the deep end. And then trump came into power and encouraged them and it got significantly worse. So I'm not sure where your 'years of excuses' comes from because it doesn't fit the actual timeline.

  • He's not just a rapist, he's also a trafficker of underage sex slaves.

  • Obviously, you can't know that, so you are just making things up to fit your world view. But whatever, if you're happy with the destruction trump allowed on Gaza, I can't help you. Good luck.

  • To encourage them to be violent the next time?

  • No they didn't. They still supported Israel, but they were making statements about tempering Israel's approach. As Israel got worse and worse under trump's encouragement, I'm pretty sure a democrat (or anyone sane) would have pushed back a lot more on Israel. Not enough, probably. But better is better.

  • When we're talking science, if you have a certain flavour of adhd which makes you less intelligent, it still makes you less intelligent. Nothing to be ashamed of, and of course the ways they define and test for intelligence are often questionable. But worrying about offending people or making test score equitable goes against the principles of objective science.

  • Haven't really seen that. Seems to be some not wanting all Israelis to be killed level of support. But little support of Israeli military actions in Gaza, wb, or elsewhere.

  • Wrong. I never would justify genocide. I agree 100% that Isreal has escalated this way beyond anything that could be justified as self defense. And they are 100% responsible for their actions. That doesn't change the fact that Hamas triggered it and gave them cover to start by committing the Oct attacks, which, while pale in comparison to Israel's subsequent violence against the people of Gaza, were also reprehensible.More important to this discussion is the timeline. When Biden was in a position to support Israel, Israel was nominally still targeting Hamas resources, albeit with not enough care about civilian casualties. Hamas was still firing many rockets daily at Israel which was using very expensive defense tech to mostly thwart. Once Biden was a lame duck, and trump signaled encouragement for Isreal to go full genocidal, things got a lot worse. We don't know what Harris would have done, or how Isreal would have responded to a democrat win, but it simply couldn't have been worse than trump. And probably considerably less terrible.

  • Are you capable of understanding nuance and how situations change over time? Or is this a hopeless conversation?

  • I do, mostly because he's so random, self centered and easily manipulated. Biden was still stuck in the 'Isreal has a right to defend itself' mode, which was true; but I do believe Biden or Harris would have pushed back significantly more than trump did when Israel kept escalating. Trump's team never pushed back at all; trump openly fantasized about clearing out Gaza and putting up trump casinos ffs.And yes, Hamas brought all that shit down on the people of Gaza. Yes Israel took advantage of it and went way overboard, and maybe they would have found some other excuse to do it anyway. But Hamas started this escalation.

  • It's the wrapping of it around a ferrite core that does it. Surprisingly little can make a difference at certain clock rates. If you take a cat5 cable running 1G and loop it a dozen times in a 6" circle and put a metal screwdriver perpendicular to the loop in its center, you will see a spike in bit errors. Weaving one wire with another isn't going to be as strong of an effect, and it's fiendishly complicated in terms of an e/m problem, but it could easily be significant.

  • Yes, in theory. But in practice it depends on the frequencies.Even if interference is insignificant, looping the wires around a metal core (which braiding does) creates a different impedance and can degrade the signal.

  • I'd be more worried about them coming back down on pedestrians.

  • It's more if it wasn't for so many moronic 'leftist' Americans not realizing how much worse trump would be, and not doing their part to stop him. But they won't learn. And we'll get trump 3 because whomever the dems run won't be perfect enough.

  • Wouldn't want a deal to happen when you've already set up two carrier groups in the region.

  • China is likely to attack Taiwan while the U.S. is distracted. Pakistan and India could get into it while there's no one available to intervene.

  • Because they didn't realize how many idiotic left leaning Americans there are.

  • I mean well before AI, it was pretty common that a GitHub repo wouldn't compile.

  • Quite a few up in Greenland. Maybe this explains Trump's confusion about that.
