  • fluxer is 95% a drop in. Its just dealing with stablity issues due to the massive influx of users.

  • GenZ are so hollow with things like this. They embrace it as fashion.

  • Americans are really really stupid so I cant say for sure. But I've got good vibes that dems win next election and fix things. They are absolutely sweeping in the smaller elections and we're seeing a ton of strong democratic candidates we're even seeing lefties win in a few places.

  • Do you think there is no growing wealth disparity under socialism? Do you think an Nvidia employee is going to earn the same as a person working at a small business? People will always have tools to create wealth disparity. Even in a moneyless society people can create wealth disparity.

  • If you dont use them people will think you're scared to use them. Look at Russian nuke threats no one gives a fuck anymore. Now they have to nuke someone to regain that aura. Then when they do everyone will be pissed at them.

If they'd set a single red line then nuked when it was crossed everyone would respect them and they'd have huge nuclear aura and no one could fault them.

  • the consumer hardware market is so tiny. It has almost no buying power or pull. Its hard to expect them to cater to it when its single digit % of their overall sales.

  • Humans are way to bad at using nukes. How many times have we seen red lines be set out only for someone not to have the balls to fire the nuke.

  • 90 day travel no visa is pretty good though. If info is already shared through the five eyes agreement then this is a no brainer. Ice isnt going to come to NZ to arrest people and Trump's going to be out in a few years.

  • None of this is a capitalism issue.

  • I did consider that but im trying to build a website and its painful and the thought of doing anything more with css makes me wanna die.

Is there any plug and play home pages you could suggest?

  • I live in a remote country and the other providers are slow. I could switch to cloudflare i guess

  • Ok thanks ill give that ago tonight. I never would have thought of a proxy manager.

  • Sorry, a cert for https because im sick of the annoying browser warning. Self signed is fine and I can use certbot for that I believe.

  • Tankies are going on an insane propaganda blitz these last few years. They are actively undermining good leaders to accelerate towards societal collapse. I was reading a deranged thread on here a few days and these people think exactly the same as MAGA.

How to reach different services on the same machine via name instead of ip+port?

  • public benefit corporation This means nothing. Its a marketing term. Corporations do not have to maximize shareholder value.

Majority of the companies dont enshitify, we only notice the ones who do. The hosting costs wont be the majority of the costs it will be staff mainly moderation. Because bluesky has better tools for users to moderation it might lower that burdern. All that being said I hate bluesky and everything it is. It feels like its wearing open source decentralized culture as a skin to lure people in.

  • You're assuming the only way to run the network is to be benevolent? Do you think there is no way they can raise enough revenue to cover costs without enshittifying? Normal people have a pretty high tolerance for monetization. Premium subs, ads in app purchases will probably easily cover running costs and I wouldnt consider that to be enshittified.

Also the amount of right wing voices on the platform doesnt matter. The tools make it easy to block them out.

  • Bluesky built the platform that people actually want.

Mainly an algorithmic feed and more relaxed and diverse userbase.

  • Im surprised they gave up so easily. Like they have huge pockets and this is one of their signature products. It had 1 bad generation and they were just like well i guess we're cooked. There is so much to "innovate" on. They could have copied steams approach and had given their console a desktop mode that runs a stripped down but still fully functional version of windows. They could have made a console with good hardware.

Oh well at the end of the day a loss for Microsoft is a win for everyone else. They wont be missed by me.
