  • He didn't get to be Spider-Man when it was age-appropriate and people were buzzing about the idea. I feel like Pope is a good consolation prize.

  • If nominated I will not run. If elected I will not serve.

  • Reminder that The Lay of Nimrodel is written in common meter, so you can sing it to the Gilligan's Island tune.

Edit: If you want a serious tune to perform it with, I just remembered House of the Rising Sun also works.

  • Are you afraid spez is going to come to your house and lick your feet while you sleep if you say Reddit? Nothing more pathetic than self-censorship. Say the fucking word or pick another one.

If we are in a simulation, maybe yawning is an animation glitch.

As far as I know, the purpose of yawning isn't really understood, but it's present in nearly all land vertebrae. Maybe it's a universal bug in the breathing animation code.

    Bonding

  • My mind to your mind, my thoughts to your thoughts.

  • Bicentennial Man

  • So then is Lilith a harpy or a succubus?

  • Yeah, animated is probably the way to go. Few sitcoms are going to get the budget for the costumes and makeup to not look dorky.

  • I guess he needs a courier buddy full of bad trivia.

You take your average dragon's intestines and stretch 'em out? You're lookin' at eh... three leagues and change.

  • Addendum: The local vintner who supplies the tavern is a genial bullywug named Jeremiah who no one quite understands.

"Cheers", but set in a fantasy tavern.

Are you fucking reading this, Wizards? You could have a Yawning Portal sitcom and millions of nerds would eat it the fuck up.

  • Put it on a table right in front of Marcy, who is (naturally) assigned to a pillory forever.

  • Pathfinder: Kingmaker and Wrath of the Righteous too.

  • Every bunny was kung-fu fighting!

  • Can anyone recommend a distro (and desktop environment?) that's going to be almost the same as desktop mode on the Steam deck? I'm getting more comfortable in that than I expected to be in any Linux, and to my surprise and delight I haven't had to delve into the command line at all yet.

  • you upgrade your shit by doing cool stunts and the main mode of progression is a how-much-shit-have-you-blown-up-in-this-area meter.

  • I saw that one thrown around when I was searching before. I wouldn't really be playing it for the story, but as long as the story's there, should I be familiar with the first two?

  • You probably want a dedicated game, but I have a lot of fun with Dragon Kart in Yakuza: Like a Dragon.

  • There's so much I want to like about Warframe, but last time I tried it I couldn't get any sense of what a new player's supposed to do to start progressing, or to get the story in a comprehensible way. The build timers also made me sad. I got all the parts, just give me the Rhino.

Still though, "We All Lift Together" is a certified banger.

What open-world games on Steam have satisfying movement, like Arkham Knight or Spider-Man?

I want to grapple, glide, wall run, etc around a big open world. What are some games you think are fun for that?

I picked up Sunset Overdrive on a sale, and the rail grinding is fine I guess, but it's just not clicking with me.

Batman has an awful lot of villains with doctorates.

Just off the top of my head, there's Scarecrow, Ivy, Harley, Hugo Strange, Kirk Langstrom, and I think I read that Freeze had his revoked.

What are your favorite Switch exclusives?

I'm including anything only available on other Nintendo systems as exclusive for this.

I've got a $50 eShop card I figure I should spend before gold points go away.

I have BotW. It was alright, but it didn't excite me enough to get TotK unless it's on a deep discount.

I've also already got Mario Odyssey and Metroid Prime Remastered. I have a handful of other games but they're not Switch exclusive afaik.

I'm mostly using my Steam deck for handheld these days, so I'd rather not get anything non-exclusive on the Switch right now.

How the hell is there not a Green Arrow video game?

Nearly everybody loved the open-city Arkham games and Spider-Man, and nearly everybody loved playing a stealth archer in Skyrim.

Get the fucking peanut butter in the chocolate and let me be Oliver Queen already.

Algal the Bard with Hildegard von Blingin' - Dust in the Wind (Bardcore)

Not to flood the community, but several people seemed to like the last one. So here's another taste of bardcore, this time a collab from two of the greats.

Hildegard von Blingin' - Hurt (Bardcore)

I fuckin' love bardcore, and Hildy is the godsdamned QUEEN!

A haunting medieval style cover of NIN's classic, Hildegard's version seems to tell the tale of a regretful immortal crushed under the weight of outliving everyone they connect with.

And a question for the comments, any interest in a possible c/bardcore community? Or is there one my search missed?

Deep Into Undermountain (to the tune of Big Rock Candy Mountains)

I read the lyrics for this on reddit a few years back, and just learned there was a recording. Would be great for for a bard doing an adventure at the Yawning Portal.

Bill Withers' song "Ain't No Sunshine" could be interpreted as Hades and/or Demeter singing about Persephone.

Ain't no sunshine when she's gone

It's not warm when she's away

Ain't no sunshine when she's gone

And she's always gone too long

    Anytime she goes away

What are some good sketch comedy shows?

One of my favorite genres, always looking for more. Bonus points if it's currently on streaming.

I've watched the absolute hell out of That Mitchell and Webb Look, Kids in the Hall, Whitest Kids U Know, and obviously SNL and MadTV but both of those had a lot of ups and downs.

I saw the one season each that Astronomy Club and The Moth Effect had and they were both pretty good. I've seen some A Bit of Fry and Laurie, but can't find a good place to stream it. TripTank was basically a sketch show with cartoons, and I liked that a lot too.

Disgaea fans: How does 4 compare to 1 and 2, doods?

I used to play the hell out of 1 and 2 back in the PS2 days, but I haven't touched the series beyond that, and haven't even played 1/2 much in the last 10 years.

How would you rate 4 in comparison? I noticed it was on sale in the Switch eShop, and I'd love to have one of the series to play on the go.

What I loved about the ones I played:

    • Story had a good balance of comedy and heart
    • Flexible and fun character building, with decent enough defined classes to get you started
    • Tons of post-game/side content (I didn't like every piece of it, but I liked how much there was to try.)
    • CAPTAIN GORDON, DEFENDER OF EARTH
    • Perfect geochains, though I was usually too smoothbrain for it.

    What I didn't like:

    • Item world, IIRC worse in 1 than 2?
    • Adell's siblings
    • Demon court thing?
