Alberta looking to save $400M in doctor payments, medical association president says in memo

The Alberta government wants to cut more than $400 million in the fees it pays to doctors, according to a confidential memo obtained by The Canadian Press.

The Feb. 18 memo, sent by Alberta Medical Association head Dr. Shelley Duggan to member physicians, says Alberta's health ministry seeks cuts to more than 800 physician billing codes to save $400 million because of budget pressures.

Those codes lay out how much money is paid for specific procedures, sometimes based on the amount of time that a doctor spends with a patient.

"What has become clear in the last few months is that Alberta Health is looking to address its budget shortfalls through the physician services budget," Duggan writes.

"While we hope Alberta Health will reconsider its current approach, we wanted to advise members that it's highly likely the [issue] will proceed to arbitration."

Duggan says the government move breaks an agreement to jointly review the billing changes because the

Teams keeps reverting volume to 20% when headphones are connected

As stated in the title, MS teams keeps reverting the volume to 20 %. This is a glaring issue for me as my iems will blast me at 20%.

Unfortunately it is a worklaptop and windows is quite literally closed off, so no regedits to try and solve this. I made sure that in windows in sound that applications also cannot have exclusive control of my sound device, but it seems that this gets circumvented by just adjusting the system volume.

Anyone here that had the same issue and found a good workaround?

Discord Update that enables Streaming on Wayland

A few weeks a go discord on linux had an update that enabled you to do screensharing on wayland even with audio.

There are a few bugs. For example, you can not change the window and sometimes have to reactivate the audio check box to have the audio work. Sadly the flatpak could not shit that update, because the chromium version shipped has to major bugs in flatpaks (issue).

But the stable .deb has now working screen sharing with audio. That is something that x11 does not have.

Announcement on Steam.

[Notice: Jan. 23rd 2025 (KST) Scheduled Update Server Error Fixed]

Hello, this is Project Moon.

We have identified a server error after the Jan. 23rd, 2025 (KST) Scheduled Update, and have deployed the fix. It was applied to the game without a separate update or necessary game relaunch.

[Issue]
An issue where, if a player in the final node of the 5.5-1 BokGak event force closed the game, an error would occur in the process of refunding the Stage entry cost.

[Cause]
Cause: The function that returns the consumed Enkephalin(loads when logging in) clashed with the function that disables relevant 5.5-1 BokGak Stages upon Event closure, causing an error in the process of reviewing that particular node

[Solution]
The error has been fixed on Jan. 23rd, 2025 13:00 (KST). The server now functions as normal.

[Subsequent measures]
We have added a specific system logic to prevent

apkupdater not working properly

cross-posted from: https://lemmy.ml/post/22214348

Some weeks back apkupdater stopped being able to download/upgrade/install from apkpure, but now a days I see issues with apkmirror as well (I see way less apps when searching for them). There was an initial issue about not being able to install from apkpure, but it seems more than that.

Agreed there's aurora store, but to be honest, I pretty much prefer avoiding the Google Play store at all, and I haven't found an issue with apkpure.

There was apkgrabber, but it was not working since so long, and finally it got archived on github.

Is there some FLOSS app similar to apkupdater, other than aurora store?

Anyone experiencing issues with it? Issues are not meant to be status reports once filed, but it seems not many have even noticed about the referred issue.

Workspace assignment doesn't work with fullscreen apps

Before I open an issue, I'd like to know if anybody has encountered and solved this issue:

I want certain applications to open in a particular workspaces so naturally I have lines such as these in my ~/.config/i3/config file:

 undefined

assign [title="^.*LibreWolf.*$"] $ws1
assign [class="org.remmina.Remmina"] $ws2
assign [title="^.*Thunderbird.*$"] $ws4
assign [class="Signal"] $ws4
assign [title="^.*ssh tunnels.*$"] $ws5

This works fine for windowed applications, but it doesn't work for fullscreen ones. For example, if I have those two lines:

 undefined

assign [title="Xephyr"] $ws3
assign [title="feh"] $ws3

and I start Xephyr or feh fullscreen with Xephyr :1 -fullscreen or feh -F, they will start fullscreen in whichever workspace I happen to be and won't be moved to workspace 3.

Need some help with unbricking a phone

(TL;DR and update at the bottom)

Running a rooted (Magisk Delta) LineageOS 21 (ver. from 27 Sep) on a Motorola Edge 30 (dubai).

Managed to brick it by simply activating the "Invert colours" option in the settings. After doing so the screen has turned off and is unresponsive. Bootloader and recovery work fine. Booting into the actual OS shows the lock screen for a split second before the invert module activates and turns the screen off again.

Even though the touchscreen is unresponsive, the physical buttons/functions still work just fine (long pressing POWER toggles the flashlight as per my settings, and shaking the phone also toggled the flashlight before I rebooted the system). Upon connecting the phone to my laptop via USB, it shows up in lsusb, but of course doesn't mount itself since I'd have to open the USB connection settings window in the phone to mount it.

I did some digging and it turns out that this is a [relatively](https://gitlab.com/LineageOS/issues/android/-/issue

What nodes should Mysu use by default?

@[email protected] brought up the issue of using samourai wallet nodes in Mysu.

I agree that samourai wallet nodes should be removed, but I'm wondering which other nodes we should (and more importantly should not) use by default?
Should I just copy random nodes with good uptime history from https://monero.fail/, or is there some consensus in the community about some nodes being a little bit more trustworthy, e.g. due to being run by trusted community members?
Anyway, here is the list of the current default nodes: https://codeberg.org/anoncontributorxmr/mysu/src/branch/master/app/src/main/java/net/mynero/wallet/data/DefaultNodes.kt, your feedback is welcome.

lemmyverse.net looks to be unmaintained and is becoming increasingly less useful

As you may have noticed, the crawler at https://lemmyverse.net isn't picking up anything from instances on versions 0.19.4 or 0.19.5.

The Issue itself is easily fixed, and there's already a PR for it from lemm.ee's admin, but there's been no response from the lemmyverse developer.

Does anyway have any other ways of contacting him?
If this continues (I realise 2 weeks isn't that long), is anyone interested in forking the code and hosting it on a new domain?

Thanks.

KDE often not sleeping when idle

I have KDE set to Turn Off Screen after 5 minutes and to Sleep after 10 minutes of inactivity. This works when I first turn on the machine, but eventually stops working after a few hours of general use (mostly Firefox, VS Code, and some Steam games). Sometimes the screen isn't turning off at all, other times the screen turns off but the machine never goes to sleep. (Explicitly telling it to go to sleep from the main menu always works.)

EDIT: Seems like browser tabs or Steam are the likely culprits. I would often leave Steam running in the background, and KDE is suspending more reliably for me now after I close it. Possibly this steam-for-linux GitHub issue.

I figure there's either some sort of issue with KDE power management, or one (or more) applications are preventing it from sleeping. How do I troubleshoot this further?

systemd-inhibit just lists PowerDevil, which seems to be KDE's power management service:
