I work from home with my SO and for the same company. We work side by side, I'd say we're like 2-3 meters apart.
We're often in the same video-calls together and unfortunately my microphone picks up her voice quite a bit (and vice-versa, of course). I've tried reducing the microphone volume, noise suppression, noise canceling but nothing seems to really work. It's very annoying because she hears herself when she's talking and has to ask me to mute myself. Then, I forget I'm muted and talk for a while before I notice it. it's very distracting.
I've thought about those desk microphones like the Blue Yeti or something, but I'm quite ignorant about the matter and I'm afraid it will pick up a lot of keyboard noise or not solve the problem at all. I just don't want those gamer/streamer arms where mic has to be super close to my mouth, I want something that I can u
For quick context: I still use a digital music player (Sony Walkman NW-A45) frequently. I am not super fond of this player for reasons.
I have looked around for a while now, and I personally cannot find any suitable solutions (both new or old). I am curious if there exists anything that I might have missed, I would love to know about it.
The Short List:
Handles large media libraries
MicroSD Support
Preferably no network connectivity
Properly handles ID3 v2.4, Vorbis tags (A45 FAIL)
Handles album covers in a sensible manner (cover.png, embedded) (A45 FAIL)
What are my options for viewing them and possibly converting them into digital. A bit of looking online has shown me a few converters but all have horrible reviews whatās my best options both practical and cost wise?
Hey, I am in the market for a new tablet. I'm still using a SM-T800. I love how rugged it's felt, the screen quality and resolution, and the overall size of the device.
I would mostly use it for notes and assisting me in tabletop games. Reading, such as manga/comics would also be a main use too. Only occasionally web browsing, and more rarely watching video content.
I don't really care about specific brands or anything other than I would like to stay away from Apple, and for it to have support for a decent keyboard case/stand.
I would also need it to support Bluetooth. I have no demand for a headphone jack or SD card slot, but those would be welcome additions as well.
I just spoke with a friend of mine on the phone. Heās got various tech support issues including worrying that his phone might have some malware on it.
I have the skills to help him, but I donāt have the time. Therefore Iām looking for more options.
My question is: are there services that specialize in tech support for elderly people? Maybe coming over to do tasks for them, or a place that he can go with devices?
I recommended he go to the T-Mobile store for questions about his phoneās security, but I know it can be hit or miss with the expertise of retail employees.
Does anyone know of an IT service that specializes in helping elderly/tech-non-savvy individuals?
First of all, yes: I'm an art snob. I'm not interested in some rando's drawings of dragons, their "badass" OC, crying airbrushed wolves or whatever. Unfortunately, that is pretty much the limits of art communities that I've been able to find on here.
I've been looking for communities here on art theory, art history and movements, contemporary artists and exhibitions, but to no avail. Don't people go to galleries and art museums, or have their own, conceptual or more hands-on art practice?
Or is it just that the threadiverse has inherited so many Reddit neckbeards that it's basically hostile to any form of aesthetic intellectualism?
To preempt suggestions of "just start your own" ā yeah, but I'm looking for a community more than just me going on about my preferences.
So I'm hoping somebody can tell me I just suck at searching and there are several communities just like I've been looking for. Second best result would be a handful of other art snobs going "YES! I'D LOVE THAT TOO," so

I've wanted a soundbar for a couple years now. Every time I look for one, I don't find anything that meets all my requirements, or I get overwhelmed looking and just give up.
My setup:
We have an SBC hooked up to my dumb TV through HDMI. HDMI handles both audio and video for the computer. We never use any other input to the TV, so this is the only audio concern here. This is currently a Radxa Rock 5b, but I'm considering replacing it with an x86 NUC or mini-PC.
We have a cheap little record player nearby. This sounds fine but could really stand to have better speakers attached. It has stereo RCA output.
What I want:
All sound to be output through one speaker/set of speakers. Ideally it would be a soundbar, since the TV is mounted above a fireplace and we can run the soundbar along the mantle.
If the speakers have to toggle between inputs to get sound between the PC and the record pl
I'm looking for an inexpensive label maker that can print small labels. I need to label various things around my house for my sanity (outlet/breaker mapping, coax endpoint mapping, etc).
I was going to buy a NIIMBOT D110, but then I saw in their FAQ that they put an IC (chip) into their labels and the printer won't print if it can't sense it. I really don't want to support a company that DRMs their consumables, if I can help it.
Can anyone recommend a good, small, inexpensive label maker? Preferably one that doesn't have sketchy DRM embedded.
Iām trying to find a pair between 100-200$,decent sound, a pair that will last, and optionally a pair which arenāt a total pain to repair. Fairbuds are my first choice but theyāve not available in my region so what are my other options?
Three years ago, I bought a pair of Red Wing Irish Setter boots with steel toes. Two years ago, I got a new job that requires me to go through metal detectors pretty often, and it's a pain. I've been waiting for these boots to wear out so I can justify getting new ones with a composite toe. I generally wear through boots in about a year.
These fucking boots WILL NOT DIE. They are still WATERPROOF. I haven't had to so much as replace the laces. They're incredible. I bought a size larger than needed and made up the difference with a couple of insoles and it's like walking on a cloud plus I seem a couple of inches taller. My feet don't even hurt after a 12 hour shift.
Title basically. I have a decently large solid wood desktop (guessing around 72"x30"x1") that supports two computer monitors, two studio monitors, a tower computer hanging under it, a laptop on it, and a decent amount of clutter because it's a decently sized space I spend a lot of time sitting in front of. I'm currently using Ikea IDĆ SEN legs (they were a lot cheaper in early covid) and they're stable, but man are they slow to go up. They have no problem going down though, lol.
It would be nice to have an equally solid pair of legs stability wise that go up faster with some weight on them. Any suggestions?
For some additional details, it'd mainly be used for lighter resource tasks like writing documents, maybe dabbling with some coding, not necessarily aimed at any high end gaming, or heavy video editing. For this reason I'd really dig the keyboard having a num-pad, and while I didn't think I'd have to look for this on laptops of all things...I'd like it to have a headphone jack.
Ideally I'd be able to pop a Linux distro on it for longevity's sake, and longshot maybe be able to open it up to upgrade RAM/storage (not a dealbreaker if not though).
I've found some okay looking laptops in a light search so far, but I'm curious about others' recommendations here (as well as any warnings on which to avoid).
