When searching for relevant accounts, I often come across users on Twitter/X with a birdsite mastodon bridge such as @[email protected], which seems to be the most followed Firefox account on mastodon.
However, this account has no visible posts, and when I follow it I get a “Pending”.
I enjoy Mastodon, but there is only a thing bugging me. When I access my home feed, I see many posts from a specific user. Can I limit his posts on my side?
I've tried most of the well known apps but I have never been satisfied with the UI, I keep getting back to the website which doesn't live up to be a daily driver due to lack of performance.
The closest one I have used is Subway Tooter, which also has some questionable UI choices. Where it tries to implement everything, but it ends up looking cluttered and clunky.
I use a variety of clients from the official website, to tusky to elk and i haven't found a way to show only the content of the accounts i follow. All "Home" feeds additionally contain information i haven't directly subscribed to.

I understand the need for content warnings on posts containing nsfw or nsfl materials, or anything that has a good chance of triggering a traumatic response, eg discussions related to self harm or abuse.
But I've run across people who expect others to put content warnings on selfies (especially if they contain eye contact), pictures of food (often specifically food with meat), and anything to do with politics. I don't want to invalidate their needs or preferences and say they shouldn't wish to see those things on their timeline; I'm just not sure content warnings is the appropriate tool in the cases.
Mastodon has very customizable controls for hashtag filtering now. You can set up filters to completely hide posts containing certain hashtags or you can have mastodon apply content warnings to them for you if you want to decide whether to see the affected posts case by case.
I think the people in the latter group should instead apply hashtag filtering as needed. If they see a post t
Hi, i'm curious if any of you have any experiences setting up and using a Mastodon instance for your family/social circle only?
I'm thinking it could provide an experience like the early Facebook, where you saw posts from people you actually cared about. And not just a bunch of ads disguised as content.
If you have experience with it, how did you convince your family to move over to the server? Does it get used and are there any unforeseen complications you hadn't expected?
Just curious if there's bots on mastodon that you can attempt interact with. I might make a bot that pretends to be human using ollama just to see how it goes. Because that would be interesting
I’m thinking about to migrate my instance Fulda.social to my Homeserver. This is an Ryzen 7 CPU with 64 GB RAM. Currently I sync the file /opt/mastodon/public/system to the s3 Storage.
My bandwidth has 250 Mbit/s download and 50 Mbit/s Upload.
My instance has currently 200 active users and 3k registered users.
Hello. My instance is mindly.social. It used to work fine, but now, when I try to connect, I simply see a Mastodon logo. This is true on both Firefox and Chromium browsers. However, when I use Pachli on my phone, it does connect. I'm not sure what the issue is.
