The amount of apps being developed for iOS / Android is getting really crazy now and new apps keep popping up every day. Updated list below:

Lemmynade is now Liftoff!

lemmy.world Are you ready for Liftoff? - Lemmy.world

Limbo [https://lemmy.world/post/356685] and Limmynade [https://bigfoot.ninja/c/lemmynade] have joined forces, and will continue development together as Liftoff! The past couple of weeks have been tremendously exciting times for all of us as events elsewhere have led to a massive growth in interest i...

Hey everyone!

It was made aware to me that there was another dev working from the Lemmur code base but focusing on iOS! We got connected and we believe we can really create something special if we team up!

So we’ve just announced our new combined app Liftoff!

We’ve brought together the best parts of both projects and have opened up the source for the project for your inspection and contributions.

We will be using GitHub for logging issues, and I will ensure over the next couple of days that all the points that have been raised here or through TestFlight are captured there.

If you want to have longer discussions and interactions with us, we have a new community at https://lemmy.world/c/liftoff.

Thanks for everyone already jumping in and engaging! I know it's been a little jarring with all the apps but we're confident this is the best way to move forward!

Thanks,

-Zach

  • Liftoff (Previously Lemmynade and Limbo)

Supports both 0.17.x and 0.18.x instances in this latest release:

    https://github.com/liftoff-app/liftoff/releases/tag/v0.9.11

  • Thanks for putting this together!

I'm the dev that is working on Lemmynade (resurrected from lemmur)

Things are getting pretty solid. I'm using it as my main without issues right now. Even on v0.18.x instances.

Try out the latest release here:

    https://github.com/zachatrocity/lemmynade/releases/tag/v0.9.6

F-Droid, Play store, and iOS should be here next week!

Lemmynade Release 0.9.5 - Now with Compact view!

I've released a new version of Lemmynade with some important bug fixes and a new compact post view feature!

You can download the android APK here:

    https://github.com/zachatrocity/lemmynade/releases/tag/v0.9.5

I'm waiting on Google play store reviews but on should be in there soon.

    Compact view

    New Settings

    Change log:

    • Added compact post view
    • Added settings option for post border radius
    • Added settings option for post shadow
    • Added thumbmail for media posts in compact view
    • Fixed comments not nesting.
  • Oh no i figured out the issue. I had GitHub trigger a migration from the fork to a stand alone. Sorry about that. Rerunning the build now and you should be able to get the packages once it finishes through the releases tab on my repo

  • Don't get Lemmy from the play store. That's not mine. The original devs abandoned the project.

Lemmy.ml is no longer required and will likely be removed as the default for the app.

I've renamed it and here is some info on how you can get the first Alpha release:

  • If you're game to test while I get the wheels back on we're making progress!

Note: significant bug with the comments due to API redesign that happened in the last 4 months.

    0.9.4 - "First Release" - (Alpha)

    Android/Desktop Packages

    https://github.com/zachatrocity/lemmynade/releases/tag/v0.9.4

    Disclaimer

There is a significant bug with the comments not working properly. They're not nested under the parent comments. Despite complete lack of API documentation for lemmy I know the issue and I'm working on this now.

    Overview

This is the first release, and by that I mean released through the original ci/cd. There was significant amount of updating that had to be done due to the app not being touched in over 4 months. Currently only Android and desktop are in this release but I intend to fully support iOS I just need to get registered for code signing and test flight.

I wanted to get an "alpha" out there to start getting testing feedback to see what is broken.

    Changelog

    • Upgraded SDK and kotlin
    • Various API changes due to app being stale for 4 months and 3 versions behind Lemmy
    • Reconfigured build pipeline to support new app name
    • App renamed to Lemmynade
    • updated the dart
  • Yeah I'm working on that separately as an instance utility.

But Lemmynade (new name) does aggregate multiple instances and user accounts into a single feed which is nice

  • Yeah gonna make some designs options cause I don't like them either. I want compact cards too. Feel free to open a feature request on my GitHub issues so I can track it!

    Lemmynade App Roadmap

Here is where I will track the roadmap on progress of my work on the resurrection of Lemmur now called Lemmynade.

    • Rebrand from lemmur and separate from lemmy.ml as the default instances
    • Release Beta through GitHub

    Feature Roadmap

    • better federated community discovery for smaller instances

    • material you

Initial post and progress from archived lemmur app

  • Yup, been tracking that in the matrix. Will be curious how long it takes most instances to update once it's officially released.

  • Yeah you can track my progress here: https://github.com/zachatrocity/lem

I'll make a formal GitHub and fdroid release hopefully tomorrow.

Well I know I could keep the name and have a separate bundle ID. But the old app is still on the play store. Figured it'd be easier to rename then deal with the duplicate named app on the store.

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.krawieck.lemmur

  • I'll get it on GitHub release tomorrow! Then fdroid and iOS app store to follow.

  • Should have a testable android APK on the repo tomorrow and I'll work on getting the iOS app out for people to sideload.

Over all it works pretty well, there's a few bugs but it's a solid foundation!

Yeah I suck at names, I'll keep thinking

  • Open source with gnu gpl v2.

That was the first thing I checked! Hahah

I've resurrected lemmur, a beautiful flutter app. Coming soon to an instance near you!

Hey guys, a week ago I started working on a lemmy app like many others as an excuse to learn flutter. Along the way I found an old app that was abandoned but very well built.

After a couple of days I was able to get things running and semi-useable again. Including posting this post from the app! The main effort being updating to 0.17.x.

    Here's some screenshots:

I'll be renaming the app (so I can republish it), tentatively under the name "Lem".. but really open to ideas here.

  • I really agree with you here.

The reddit exodus happened so fast that people didn't think through or have time to learn how to scale in the fediverse.

    Subreddits should equal instances.

Common threads/stickies within subreddits should equal communities within instances.

    Subreddits should not equal communities.

  • I had this issue and the cause was the email server. If you're using smtp you'll have to make sure your vps opens port 25.

However you can also just register without an email and it should work

    How To: Use Lemmy

    Welcome!

Thanks for joining our instance. This is our !help community and here you will find tips + tricks on navigating Lemmy that might be useful if you're migrating from reddit.

    Finding Communities

Currently our instance has open federation to pretty much everything except porn and nazis. You can add new communities from outside our instance (in the fediverse) by searching for them in the search here on bigfoot.ninja

Here is a helpful Community Browser that you can use to see popular communities outside of our instances.
