There is no way to impose tariffs on Danish goods. We're part of the EU, and the inner market, so we'll just send the goods from some other EU country. So any tariff on Denmark would have to be a tariff on EU.
This is not related to anything the US has been doing. It has been underway some time.

The issue with that logic, voting with your money, which I once used as well, is that richer people get more of a vote than poor people. And as a bunch of the issues with global warming didn't really hit rich people, we shouldn't depend on them to fix it.
You'd be surprised at how many things you do today that has been illegal or will be illegal in the future. The last part is the real scary one.
