  • Yeah, she's exempt because it's technically a campground, but she has monthly month to month spots. So the laws are more flexible for her because she can set and raise 'campsite' rent as often as she wishes. Luckily she said it would only be until August (it's peak camping/tourist season where I live) and the rent will go back down. Until then though I have to scrape by, I could barely afford it as is, but the extra $100 makes it a tight squeeze.

Landlord Raised Rent by $100, Need Help to Cover it by Friday (via cashapp) <<Update: Covered by a Generous Comrade, thanks everyone! <3 >>

Suprise, suprise, my landlord raised the damn rent by $100 for the coming month and I'm flat broke. I need to come up with it by Friday if anyone can help out with any part of it. My sister was going to help but she got hit with a giant bill, so I don't have anyone else to turn to. I'd really appreciate it if any comrades can help out.

    My cashapp is $wanderingwolf9

    Thanks in advance <3

Edit: A incredibly awesome comrade covered it! Thanks for all your help everyone <3 <3 <3

  • I just had it done and it's amazing how good your teeth look and feel after they finish the process (took about 4-5 visits for me). I definitely recommend looking into getting it done. It was the first time I'd ever had it done (just turned 40!) and I'll be going back yearly now.

  • I beat Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer on the DS a month and a half ago and moved on to playing the English translation of Shiren the Wanderer: The Eye of God and the Devil's Navel on PSP. It's the same base Shiren-style game but with more feature like equipment upgrades, runes for weapons, new items, new enemies and the ability to tag and retrieve lost equipment. A nice graphical upgrade too with it being on PSP.

I appreciate all the QoL features which streamlines the experience trememndously. Allies will now walkthrough NPCs without getting stuck behind them, there's new revival and escape herbs that allow you to revive if you do or escape back to the beginning with all your items if you hit a difficult snag.

At this point, playing for over a month, I'd say it's the best Shiren game I've played yet. I do have the new one that just released on PC and Switch but haven't gotten to it yet. Honestly, the 3D chibi graphics put me off a bit too. I'll play it eventually but I'm not in a rush. For me Shiren is a pickup and play handheld game. I play it in 15-20 min bursts on the bus.

Also contemplating playing Arcanum of Steamworks and Magick Obscura on my laptop, especially since I'm GMing a Steampunk tabletop game on Discord, but I don't know if I have the stamina for an old school CRPG right now.

  • It's quickly become my favorite animated show of all-time. It's closest I've ever had to "comfort food" in a show. I'm always smiling like a kid when I watch it. Makes me cry sometimes too because Lois & Clark's relationship is done better than any other Superman show or movie I've seen.

  • I loved Legion all the way up until the end of season 2. The finale just felt like such a rush to make him into an obvious bad guy. I get that he is in the comics, but they spent the better part of two seasons showing him mostly as the good guy. There were some definite questionable things he did, but I didn't buy the slide from good guy with some issues to outright villain. I don't know if they just didn't have enough time to fully show that descent, but it really soured me. I gave up after two episodes of season 3. Although, I will say it was still worth the ride, the cinematography, effects and overall style of the show is absolutely fantastic. I probably still will finish season 3 someday, but it's not high enough on my list to make it a priority.

  • Big Superman fan, so right now my absolute favorite show is My Adventures with Superman. Also, I'd say it's the best Superman animated series to date. Yes, even more so than The Animated Series from the 90's (which is still a great show).

However, a very very close second (probably a tie at this point) is an anime I found randomly through some thread online called Mushishi. About a man named Ginko who is a wandering "mushi master". Mushi are basically like concentrated living energy that take different forms and Ginko travels from village to village encountering new mushi and issues to solve resulting from people's exposure to a particular mushi. But the core of the show is in the poignancy of the character's stories and their particular backstories and personal issues that intertwine with the pressing mushi issue. It's a very slice of life kind of show and the best anime series I've seen so far. Incredibly well written and interesting characters even if they're only seen for an episode. I highly recommend you check it out.

Detoxing off Alcohol and need help bad to avoid the DTs, can someone help me out with $20 so I can avoid possible seizures or other medical issues? (via cashapp)

I'm a problem drinker and am coming off a week long binge and could use some help. I hate to ask for money for alcohol online, but I have no other option right now. I'm stuck in a rural area without bus service on Sunday and no cash to get something to drink to avoid the DTs.

When you're as heavy a drinker as I am coming off alcohol wihout weening yourself gradually or seeking medical attention can be possibly life threatening (seizures, stroke, hallucinations etc). I'm not near a hospital (literally live on a mountain at a campground) and I'm desperate to avoid any issues today.

There's a store at the campground here so if someone could help me with $20 I could get something to drink and help to avoid the worst of the detox. I would greatly appreciate it so much. After I ween myself off I decided I'm quitting for good. The past week has been a big eye opener (including doing some stupid stuff when I was in town and ending up in the hospital all the way in the next town over).

  • This was exactly the same way I felt walking by the protest in front of the courthouse today. I'm thinking to myself: "what does this performative bullshit really get us?" but also thinking "at least people are saying SOMETHING", and here I am just being an onlooker. But the cynical part of me is looking back at past "big" movements and how for all the noise, they ultimately did fuck all. The other thing I noticed is that the messaging is all over the place "hands of Social Security", Ukraine flags? "make america decent again", "F-Elon", for a casual onlooker you'd not really nail down a coherent narrative from just looking at the random assortment of signs, there's no clear messaging, just vagaries.

I was in a nearby store and one woman actually asked the cashier what the protest was about, "Trump", he said,"you know, about the constitution and stuff," I held my tongue because I am sure she was a MAGA type and could tell she was waiting to offload on the cashier, but he was just this young guy and not terribly confrontational. It just pains me, because the anger, resentment and disillusion is there, but there is no focus to harness that because (as others in this thread have pointed out) the milquetoast liberal, whishy-washy idea of how to respond to these types of crises.

The poster who talks about the vanguard party and recruiting people is spot on, and I'm ashamed to say that my own efforts on that front have been dismal too due to apathy. It's easy to get discouraged when the task at hand is so damn big, and seemingly unfathomably immense to undertake (especially with the current state of the left in the US).
