Not very well imo. I have 24 hours worth of music in my playlist and I get the same few songs each time I shuffle it

That sounds fantastic! I love the idea of progressively decorating, sounds much less daunting
I've really enjoyed getting to know more about Krampus over the last few years

Are you in a Nordic country? Sounds nice!
I'm atheist too but spend most of December in cold churches. I like the ritual of it even if I don't actually believe

Good post, agree with this. I enjoyed playing it a few years ago, don't let the bastards get you down.
Ashe and Lux ftw.

What are your festive traditions?
What do you do (either in your country/culture or as a tradition with your family/friends) to celebrate or mark this time of year?

I live in the UK so tipping thankfully isn't a thing here as we have minimum wage. I will tip if I'm at a restaurant with a group of people but otherwise I won't tip at all. Hospitality workers deserve to be paid more but it's not up to the customers to supplement a dodgy business. I am in a union and will always vote for parties who advocate for employment rights though.
Tipping is very much a cultural thing and I think it's not wise to treat it like it's the same everywhere. In the US it sounds like it's a necessary evil and if I were to visit I would comply, but it's not the same as in other countries.

I don't understand a lot about this conflict but surely there can be no justification for this. Those poor people

This is a great resource, thanks for sharing

Sertraline. It's helped hugely with depression and anxiety, though I think Covid helped with the latter as well. I struggle to feel anything much these days but it's much better than feeling low and anxious.

Peanut

UK train companies should use this. So often I ask why my train is delayed and they basically shrug their shoulders

Make up remover wipes will work, just be careful as it can also take the paint off. Good for blurtack stains too

Sting has a lot to answer for

I cancelled Netflix a few months ago and that was my only subscription out of the main ones (I currently have a subscription to Nextup which is a comedy streaming platform but that's it). I haven't missed it much as there's not been anything on there that I've been keen to watch. If there ever is I'm sure I can find another way to watch it. I find I am using my free channel streaming apps more though (BBC iPlayer/Channel4, etc).

I would do loads of degrees. History, English, Psychology, Politics, Spanish, etc. Having the brain space to focus on learning would be amazing. I did my masters part time while working full time and it was a nightmare. Glad I did it but I couldn't do my best as I was bogged down in work stuff.
I would also like to learn more languages. I do a bit of Spanish and Danish when I can but I rarely have the mental energy after work.
Travel too. Maybe write a book.

Thanks for giving such a comprehensive overview. I would definitely miss Beehaw if it went but I totally understand the rationale of it happens. Can't say I would 100% follow but only because I keep forgetting to browse all of the apps I have at the moment, without adding one more. Depends how much of a mess Lemmy becomes I guess.

I still think they're real.

It's in pockets of Tumblr as well, feels so dystopian. I'm all for language change but this depersonalising of terms like 'kill' is just creepy

That's a thing?!

How is that relevant?

Singing can be surprisingly expensive. My fees for 1 year with two choirs is almost £350, plus extra for hiring/buying sheet music, transport to and from rehearsals and tours. Plus the dinner I have in town before rehearsal (it's only itsu but it mounts up). Oh and a concert dress (hopefully I only need the one this year), that was £80.
It's worth it though!

Open Source alternative to IFTTT?
Are there any decent open source alternatives or should I be looking to go down the building route?
I am a coding newbie so would be a bit daunting!

What's your ideal holiday?
It's summer holiday time in the northern hemisphere which made me think of this.
What kind of holiday/vacation do you like going on? What do you like doing? Beach, adventure, city break, etc.?
What's the last holiday you went on that you really enjoyed?

Philosophy Recommendations?
What books/podcasts/videos do you recommend on philosophy?
Can be of any style (introductory or more comprehensive), just would be good to build up a repository on here and see who else is interested in philosophy more generally.
I find The Prince by Machiavelli fascinating, can definitely see how some leaders take his ideas to heart.

Are skincare routines worth it?
Skincare is one of those things I always feel like I should be better at (and that I'm failing as a girl because of it somehow). I'm lucky as my skin is fine really (I drink a lot of water) so I've never really done anything. Selfcare is something I struggle with generally so never found it worth the effort.
I'm thinking as I enter my thirties though I should. Just had a sheetmask and enjoyed it but I have no idea where to start generally in terms of it.
What's your skincare routine? Is it worth the effort/cost?
