  • I already did

  • They would survive for awhile after diagnosis on a starvation diet, maybe weeks, and slipping in and out of a coma but it was a death sentence. There's stories from the 1920's when whole wards of kids were hit with a first dose that removed the symptoms in minutes. I can't imagine being in that room when all that despair and anguish turned into hope and relief.

  • A little mustard might be good with the paprika, like a deviled egg without the extra oil from the mayo

  • It's at least nice to see conservatives embracing transhumanism

  • Yes if the book is public domain, just not many people would buy it probably because people do this and release them for free on sites like librivox.org and archive.org

i think there's also tools to record a set of sounds using your voice then combine that with text to generate the audiobook using AI, but I haven't played around with and of them yet

  • ISO 8601

  • 2013-02-27 is a weird way of writing 1361923200

  • I thought the demon chasing the Winchesters had yellow eyes

  • I'd want something that can help people and can be tested and has an immediate, dramatic effect to make it undeniable

Maybe insulin? You could literally bring comatose people back from the brink of death in minutes

  • It's not his call & an illegal executive order, funding is Congress and the corporation for public broadcast is a corporation not a government department.

  • I'm looking forward to lunch tomorrow

  • A bunch of retro games have good couch co-op support & the steam deck can emulate pretty much all of them

Zombies ate my neighbors, smash TV, 2-d brawlers like TMNT turtles in time, double dragon, and streets of rage, Goldeneye, toejam and Earl, bubble bobble

  • Garth Marenghi's dark place, rifftrax/mst3k, Young Frankenstein, duck soup, Joe Bob's has a bunch of shlocky horror movies mixed in with classics they do intros and interrupts like the old public access/cable monster movies

  • Today being labor day I would go down to the protest downtown, instead I'm going to the office to do as little work as I can manage, maybe have a couple meetings to slow other people down today too

  • A strong one is mint from the mint plants that grew along the fence between my grade school playground and the train yard on the other side

More recently cedar and coconut are a couple that I enjoy just for the aroma

  • I think what they mean is the picture is implying it's due to generational changes when you could find a younger looking 34 year old then and an older looking 34 year old now. It's a sample size of one. By definition that's argument from anecdote, there's no way you can infer generalities from that without being hasty.

  • Yeah plain text based & image only memes

I put on my robe and wizard hat, that dancing baby gif, all your base, etc

There was also some push back on posting images with text embedded because it makes the text unsearchable/not compatible with screen readers at the time/forced font and color that can make it harder to read, but then the image macro sites took off that made it simple for anyone to create from a template and there was no turning back

  • Code written by software doesn't mean AI unless you ignore compilers

Executives lie to boost profits and justify their decisions, I doubt MS execs even know how much of their code is AI generated just like the ad sales company exec they were talking to in the article

  • Sriracha or your preferred hot sauce, egg, chopped veg like celery or carrot, a shot of malt vinegar or Worcestershire or a1

  • In all it's shades of green 💚

If you jumped off the ISS, how long would it take for your body to de-orbit?

The question was raised in a recent .world news article comment https://lemmy.world/post/25766196

"In these times of darkness and hopelessness, we wish to share a strong message of solidarity and recognition to those Palestinian journalists who are covering this crisis in such dramatic circumstances. As humanity, we have a huge debt to their courage and commitment to freedom of expression," said Mauricio Weibel, Chair of the International Jury of Media Professionals.

Tips for living an advertising free/minimal life?

Just trying to live with as little advertising as possible and curious what tips or tricks the community has aside from moving out to a cabin in the woods.

I can't really get away from road side advertising for now. Public sporting events are completely infected, and for the ads I am forced to see I try to make a conscious effort not to buy their goods or services. I won't subscribe to a streaming service if they have a sub+ad tier, if they're separate free with ads or sub no ads I'll support it.

Not really for any moral stance, but ad blockers are good at avoiding malware and some services are basically broken if you have to wait for an ad network, and I just feel mentally healthier in general without the extra propaganda.
