  • I like to think it's because our education has gone really downhill, but I realize some of these people are so old it's questionable how much they really know and understand. I'm genuinely baffled we don't have a simple doctor's check to see if people in retirement are still cognizant enough to vote responsibly- it's the same issue with driving.

  • They're incredibly naive people who think they have some defensible moral high ground because they didn't vote, but the truth is they've accomplished nothing and surrendered their vote to fascists. If they really cared they'd be out there calling their congressman and lobbying for a change in policy. Yes, this is hard, but no one said change would be easy. The only reason Biden won the previous election is because people went out and voted. The reason Trump won is because they didn't vote. And I bet these people will not take responsibility for his transgressions even though they are partly responsible. I cannot help but feel we deserve this pain because our population would rather take the hypothetical moral high ground over voting for the better candidate.

  • Imagine asking for documentation from this administration to do something legally (see: illegal deportations). Did you even read the article where the director from the Internet Archive had some words about the funding? Or the source article where they listed the cuts and even an a screenshot of a termination notice? Bootlicking is so sad. These morons aren't gonna help you

  • Even if you aren't big on Catholicism, do we think Jesus would advocate harming migrants to put yourself first? This is the guy who said the widow person donating two coppers is a exemplary person because they gave everything they had. From a Catholic pov, surely the right move would be to help migrants over enriching yourself.

  • Making people aware of their biases is not discrimination nor favoritism- it is removing favoritism for equal odds for everyone. In short, "here's a problem we have as a community- you should be aware of it when you are hiring so you treat people equally." It's clear you don't even understand the problem- you can't remove people's innate characteristics when they come to your work for an interview, so obviously you make it so the people interviewing are less biased. The only way to make people less biased is to inform them of their possible biases.

  • You know we are fucking cooked when the phrase is "defy trump" and not "holding discussions to fix tariff bill". They've lost all sense of responsibility to this fascist Russian asset and it's crazy they are just following orders like it's the 1930s.

  • Writing this in the context of Google being the alternative is an interesting take (especially when Google hijacks internet standards with things like manifestv3 and has ads in their competing email service)

    Everything is slow

The status site for lemmy sdf is showing some incredibly high latencies and saying the endpoint is unhealthy. I hope it's fixed quick

  • Some people are unable to see the programs beyond "paying for it", and so they think it's like an exclusive club where you shouldn't get access if you have no money. It's only logical until you ask why we even have a government in the first place and see that the most ruthless governments are also the most exclusive ones

    Better link handling in comments

When someone posts a link in their comment, there are no options to copy, share, or sometimes even just view the link (I've seen this on some images that it just opens right away on a comment without even asking me, which seems a little too zealous for my taste). This is immensely useful when I don't necessarily want to open a link in the client (I.e. copy and paste to share it or maybe I want to open it in a different app). When a user long-hold presses on a link, you should get options on how to handle it. Some possible interactions are copy, share, and open in external app

    Interact with Communities in Search

Often when I want to find a community, I'm just using the search function. It's great that communities show up, but why can't I interact with it? There are no options and it's just a list, but a list is pointless if you can't do anything with it. Maybe tap could take you to the community and there could be a dropdown to subscribe? This is a rather frustrating user experience as I was used to just typing a community in the rif sidebar and getting to the community I wanted.
