  • Copy that. Found a drop on archive.org. Planning to grab it when I'm back home. Cheers friend!

  • Aww geez. Thanks for the summary duder. Been at a conference in the bay so kinda detached from it all. Gonna be wild if Fandom is the shitdicks that kill GB.

  • Fuck. Long time, first time. I'm a few episodes behind. Any additional info available? Links?

  • The Amazon East, Microsoft West or SpaceX South?

  • Who knew we'd live to see a world where consoles increase in price 5 years in to the generation.

    I hate this timeline.

  • Hell yeah, grind away for basic necessities. Bet you're a dream to talk to at parties.

  • The sick irony is that between the 2 distinct approaches to titans, there's room for a fantastic hero shooter where the titans function as long run ults.

The PC / meatbag is a generic or, fuck it, a Apex bro/sis, and their ult is a Titanfall. Add some leveled / unique loadout options like 1 to the focused classes of 2 and its an easy win.

At least it is for this nerd on the internet who knows fuck all about VG development and mainstream gaming habits in 2025.

  • Thank you so much for the breakdown. I feel genuinely educated about something new and fascinating.

The concept of intentional exclusion sounds parallel to my experience as a metal head since childhood. There are times when we are the flavor of the day and others where we are being literally chased out of town (good times touring Utah with a band called fuck god in the face immediately after September 11, lol). But it is always a community that welcomes with a bit of gatekeeping. Sometimes a precious thing needs to be polished with a sneer.

The perspective on allyship is also interesting. I am never quite sure where to state my stance without appearing cloy or pandering. There's an easy line between honesty and rainbow capitalism but it blurs a bit when you're an individual who empathetically wants everyone to be able, safe and comfortable being the version of themselves they feel inside. Again, I think there's another parallel between our communities.

The point on humor/irony or "evil" as you framed it is fun as well. In my simple understanding it's akin to a statement of empowerment much the same as being a bad bitch. Love it. Be the Dr Evil you want to see in the world. Cpt Hammers be damned. (Not that a villain needs permission). I hope one day the status quo catches up to your virtue and you are all able to find new paths of decadent evil to engage in.

Cheers to that community. I will admire from afar and keep my mouth shut about it. Lest I spoil the delicious villainy for my own hetero purposes. But I will still perform in a mask and cape on stage at a crummy metal venue and raise a mental toast in our shared existence.

Have a fantastic day my friend!

  • Ok, I have an interest in a good faith conversation and realllllly hope we can do so about one of the "What This Isn't" sections.

Please, bear with me if there is some obvious context that I am missing and understand I'm genuinely asking I'm good faith.

"A place for people who are straight and cis. Really can't emphasize this one enough. I don't care how nefarious or well-intentioned you are, you also need to be LGBTQIA+ in some way or another."

This seems exclusionary to an entire group of allies and people who may find the ability to recognize something in the folks taking part in that community that allows them to be their true selves. It also feels a touch damning personally as someone who strives to practice tolerance and exceptance as a matter of course.

Is this in jest to keep with the villain motif? Is it a brand of humor and irony that I'm not privy to as a person outside of the community? Should I just accept its gate keeping as empowerment and move on?

I also understand you are likely not the author of the manifesto and not beholden to it's message nor owe me an explanation. This is genuinely a question to expand my understanding of a world outside of my own as a (you guessed it) cis, 40 year old, white gun owner in America.

  • This game is a technical mess. Oblivion is top 3 of all time for me. I'm the target audience for a litany of reasons, yet I refunded it after 3 hours.

It runs like shit on everything. Windows? Check. Linux? Check. Steam Deck? Check. GeforceNow? Check.

As soon as you leave the prison it all falls apart. Hopefully the next few months of patching can salvage it. I'll keep an eye on reports. Until then though, the console versions seem to be the only way it's worth trying to run this release.

    Specs for anyone interested:

    PC running Win 11 23h2 and PopOS - Ryzen 5900x, 5080FE

Laptop Running 24h2 and Mint Ryzen 7945HX, 4080

Both of those should be able to run this game at 240 1080p, 120 2k or 60 4k and unfortunately none of that happens. Its just a see saw of random drops and stutters not matter what settings I use.

  • The over saturated, bright environments are a key factor to the vibe of Oblivion. Them somehow regressing to Gears of War brown is a terrible sign. Even if its just in those few regions.

  • I love a metalzone in the mix. That thing makes the sweetest pinch harmonics. Grab the wang bar and get your Dimebag on. 😁

  • I had played Line6 gear since the mid-00's because that was in my budget as a new father in my 20's (the clichés write themselves here) and was mainly in I guess what became deathcore bands. Anyways, the amount of shit talk was insane. My tone wasn't Sunn stack deep but I was always able to fit it to the band I was with and find where I belonged in the mix.

Fast forward to being old enough and far enough in my life of upgrade to AxeFX / Poweramp 2x12 land and I honestly am not as into the tones as I was with my old, crusty line6/bogner head.

This is in addition to playing custom shop guitars through all the gear I've acquired since the 90's.

I've always felt that tone is 90% in the hands and the rest is just a series of obstacles getting that to come out loud enough to be heard over the drums.

Play what you have and never stop trying new gear, but don't be afraid to like what you like.

  • Sweet. Does it finally fix the black screen issues? My 5080 is damn near unusable.

    Fucking scrub ass drivers.

nm, realized which sub this was. Black screens aren't a problem on Linux... Yet.

  • There was a demo reel of the spy as well that was incredible. I played untold hours of tfc. It is likely what made me a intellimouse fan (thumb buttons for both grenade types?! It was the future).

I truly miss conc grenades. There has never been a more versatile weapon in a game.

  • So what's the protocol here when its a slop article posted by a bot. Does down voting influence the bots posts content choices? Or am I burning energy reaching for the little arrow that goes down to null?

  • Fucking a. That was like reading a grocery list riddled with affiliate links.

BTRFS migration from Unraid to Proxmox

    Hi all,

It's been a long... years at work and my brain is fried currently with no bandwidth to properly determine how to migrate a BTFRS array from unraid over to proxmox. I can see the array in proxmox and am able to mount it but now I cannot for the life of me figure out how to

    1. verify that the data is intact
    2. assign it to a storage pool for use in vm's
    3. view it within proxmox

I haven't touched proxmox in years after settling on unraid a while back, but am looking to move back to a non-unraid config.

Anyone here have experience with btfrs and proxmox? Any good links to a tutorial or video?

    Thanks!

Alternative to Requestarr for *arr Stack User Requests

    cross-posted from: https://sh.itjust.works/post/29831606

    Hey all,

I've been using requestarr via Discord for the past year or so to have a remote user request option for my *arr stack.

Looking to move away from Discord completely and have been having trouble finding an alternate that would run on a more FOSS or secure platform. I run discovarr my local users but I'm hesitant to post that up as a web app for external access.

Does anybody around here know of a program or app or container even that would provide similar or replacement functionality via Matrix or signal or something of the like?

    Thanks!

Elden Ring Player to Sue FromSoftware Over High Game Difficulty

Another article that highlighs inherent flaws in the American legal system. How can this potentially be an actual lawsuit? How can "journalists" even entertain reporting on this?

Honestly I'm just posting to laugh at my fellow lemmings responses and watch see how the plaintiff is roasted for not gitting gud.

But, there is a real conversation here around continued ignorance of game development and the value of difficult games as a value proposition. Afterall, the person attempting to sue from did choose to purchase the games willingly knowing they're not for scrub casuals like themselves.

What do you all think, is difficulty gating content a real issue? Should dev's have some kind of legal requirement to appease players that can spec a build properly? Is it Thursday and I'm just looking for some easy laughs at a morons expense?
