  • Totally agree with "We don't degrade in these parts. We give constructive criticism or say dope that's awesome!"

The one exception being people teasing us badly without sharing their code.

Edit: nevermind... just saw your edit. Nice job! Thanks for sharing :)

  • Had a similar idea with https://gohug.eu/

Main collection of resources starts here: https://gohug.eu/join/ - even added your guide a few days ago: https://gohug.eu/join/alternatives/

Domain name is a challenge I know well. At some point I just went with short to just get going.

Happy to contribute / join our efforts to build something great.

    Added preferences export / import

To make it easier keeping multiple browsers in sync you can now export & import preferences.

Background image & bookmark thumbnails now also support image URLs in addition to images stored in local browser storage.

    Added bookmarks widget

Ported the initial version of the gohug.eu start page to VueJS/TypeScript.

The bookmarks widget is hidden by default and can be enabled in the user preferences.

All data is stored in browser local storage. Bookmarks can be dragged & dropped to re-arrange.

lemsha.re now hosted on Codeberg Pages

DNS settings currently propagating through the web and should be finished within the hour.

We are now making use of Codeberg Pages and their awesome Woodpecker CI/CD pipeline. Every push to main branch now automatically builds and deploys automatically.

Side note: Application process and approval for Woodpecker was a breeze. Devs responded within minutes on a weekend. Would not expect that level of support from a paid service. Kudos to the awesome Codeberg team!

  • Will be published next week with specs & pre-order page

  • Completely depends on where you are located. What's you country?

  • I got two for Austria if you want to update the list:

  • US imported $3.2 billion in goods and exported $595 million. Trade deficit of 2.7 billion Syria, Iran, Venezuela (according to Forbes) were tariffed - despite being already sanctioned.

  • lemsha.re - Lemmy shareable links

  • Can reproduce and just shot the dev of Raccoon an email if we can do anything to fix it on our side. Love when this hopefully is all done within Lemmy natively and redirect services are not needed anymore.

  • Trying to find out why links are broken in raccoon and summit

    Reference: https://feddit.uk/post/26682106/16334328

Can't access this test post on summit, because it does not support feddit.org when not logged in.

Raccoon shows an empty page. Best guess so far is that Raccoon parses the URL as actual instance, which it is not.

  • URLs are now prettier - while being fully backwards compatible to the initial path structure.

Edit: Also handling invalid URLs more gracefully now

Prettier URLs and comment URL support

https://lemsha.re/ now has prettier URLs (removed https:// from within the URL path).

Now also supports comment URLs thanks to @fxomt@lemmy.dbzer0.com

  • Got it.

    Updated the issue tracker.

  • Love the idea. Then we don't depend on chains correctly labeling products - if they add indicators at all.

Appreciate you trying to pre-fill with as many products as possible. Would love to see you finding a way to integrate community curation as well.

On another note: how about separating the database in its own service that only focuses on database management & API for other products to use as well? Or does anybody know of a similar database that is already built (community-driven, not controlled by a few)?

  • Absolutely open for that.

But not sure I'm following. Couln't you already define the custom URL as https://lemsha.re/%s and leave GET params empty?

  • I like that. Will pick it up for the next update.

  • Exactly. There are differences, but the core functionality is the same.

  • gohug.eu - Embracing Europe ❤️

  • Thanks for the shout-out @sag@ani.social

A bit swamped right now, but in my head I'm planning on re-implementing gohug in vuejs and open sourcing the code. The current version was just a weekend hack when I was overjoyed with the change in our thinking that !BuyEuropean@feddit.uk and similar communities are bringing.

Would love to add more functionality like a fully customizable and theme-able speed-dial, search engines, lemmy and mastodon feeds, etc.

Not sure if anybody is interested in a liberated start page though. Will push it forward anyway, for personal use at least. But maybe at glacial pace 😅

  • Added Photon UI support today.

Also looked into implementing Mbin support. It's quite straight forward what needs to be done. Can't promise anything soon though.

Shareable Lemmy links with Photon UI support

    Hey,

if you are a fan of shareable instance agnostic Lemmy links and Photon UI you can now use lemsha.re for shareable links with built-in photon support.

Why? Because I love the interface and use it daily.

    Code hosted at https://codeberg.org/lemshare/lemshare

lemsha.re now supports Photon UI for Lemmy

The lemsha.re source code is available at https://codeberg.org/lemshare/lemshare

  • Honestly not sure how the info about its existence would have reached me. Other than being part of every lemmy instance sign up form maybe. Or might have stumbled upon a mention on the https://join-lemmy.org/ home page. Endorsement there would be awesome.

There are browser extensions that offer similar functionality on a personal level - but even those I only tried after.

  • Hah. Did not know about lemmyverse.link

I like that they pre-fetch the link metadata. Other than that and the delay option I don't see much difference.

No immediate plans for Mbin support. My plan is to publish the code and make it FOSS, though. Should be quite easy to extend (and self-host if you like).

    Hey 👋,

I got frustrated with the friction for users from direct links to all the different instances they don't have accounts for and built https://lemsha.re/

It's inspired by matrix.to - but built for Lemmy content.

If a user clicks a lemsha.re link the user will be presented with two options:

    • visit the original link, or
    • view the same content - but on their preferred instance

    Hope you find it useful.

    Ye be warned 🏴‍☠️ @lemm.ee

Inspired by matrix.to for Matrix we wanted to reduce friction when sharing Lemmy links. The idea is simple: instead of directly linking to a Lemmy page we first ask the user if they prefer to visit the original or another instance.

We call that a Lemshare. At the moment Lemshare links are limited to Lemmy community and user profile links.

You can create your own Lemshares here: https://gohug.eu/lemshare/

    Self-hosting exchange

    Hey 👋

Just started self-hosting photon app a few days ago and am very interested in your experiences?

Running on v2.0.0-rc.4 and just love the UX in comparison to lemmy native. I am experiencing some issues though. Nothing too major. Some issues might be due to me being inexperienced self-hosting. Also don't want to clog github issues with unwarranted claims.

Hope some of you can chime in with your experience here and help me find the root cause. List ordered by personal preference:

    1. Random loading issues when sorting by Hot/Twelve hours. Might be related to my main instance lemm.ee. I think they did change some server settings (cloudflare, DDOS IIRC and downtime a few days ago) and around the same time the issues started. I click my bookmark for the photon front page and the screens stays black with only the logo in the center. If I manually remove the sort setting from my browser local storage it starts working again, but can not select Twelve hours. Happens a few times a
