Hey, great pictures.
But I don't think you should mark them as NSFW. One of the goals of this community is to dispell the fear of spiders. And while the trigger warning is quite considerate, I think it hurts the overall cause/goal of this community. To spread knowledge and educate people about spiders.
(also I didn't see those till now because I usually don't have NSFW enabled ... )

Nobody beats the Swiss at food prices :)
I actually checked yesterday, it's $9.40 for a dozen.
Switzerland has been a member of Schengen since 2008 ....
Since I have no idea what the price of eggs currently is or how it has changed ... I'd say not at all.
Someone get this man a radio show!
No, completely unrelated youtuber.
I'd create an y and o for you.
I went with a Synology NAS (I know, the foss crowd will probably crucify me) which really keeps the setup effort to a minimum. You put in the HDDs, setup your pool/volume, install Plex (or jellyfin), upload your media and you're basically good to go.
I do have a copy of wikipedia and I should be good on entertainment media. I guess I should expand the emergency porn stash.

I guess "to" wins.
That might be it.
mh .. you're two hours late but you offered the "and walk it in." instead of the "to walk it in".
I guess I have to look up the episode to see who's right.
edit:
You're both wrong. He says "they’re always trying walk it in." There is nothing between these words (S03E02 at 1:19 into the video).
It's like saying "Bri'ish" I guess. He just left it out.
It's already commonly called Eurasia. Really just depends on which definition of continent you're using.
I guess it should be, but I've never tried storing files in the DB.
It's rather easy upload files to the file system with the Storage Facades, but that doens't have an build in way to associate the files with models. That's where the spatie media library comes in.
Are you set on storing your image in the database?
If not I'd recommend the spatie media library:

I've seen that one a few times on all. I thought it was an anime community :(
I'm actually not that concernd. I just took over the community because it was modless, but all I really care about is identifying spiders. Also it's currently winter in the northern hemisphere, that always slows things down.
But I found a spider this morning and it's been a while ... so I made a post.

This guy joined me in the bath this morning.

I was open the window while in the tub (it's right above the tub) and this guy fell into the water. The way it drifted in there I actually thought it was just an exuviae, or at least already dead before it fell. I fished it out with a rag regardless and a few minutes later it started walking around again. Now it's hanging out in my bathroom.
It's a wolf spider Zoropsis spinimana, so not ideal to have indoors. But since it's currently freezing outside, I'll let it stay for now.

It's not broken, posts and comments will eventually sync but we're up to a day behind. It makes it impossible to interact with any of these communities in a meaningful way.

Another Zoropsis spinimana that had to be evicted from my home.

A female this time, pretty sure it's gravid. Probably the biggest one I've seen so far.
And yeah, I have a very shitty phone/camera. Sorry for that.

Request for being a moderator of c/spiders
I don't really want to, but it doesn't have any mods currently.
I have some expertise with spiders and would rather stick to doing just IDs, but since there is no mod maybe it's good to have a contingency plan in case some spam turns up ... or to delete the classic "it's a brown recluse" comment ... when it's any brown spider.
But I'm happy to concede to anyone else that actually wants to be a mod.

lemmy.ml mod is really into acupuncture.

Anime newbie looking for suggestions
I watched "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" a few weeks ago which is probably my first proper anime (not counting the odd episode of Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon or OnePiece I caught on TV as a child) and I really enjoyed it.
Especially the slow but deep character build up and general world building and exploration themes were really captivating. So I'm looking for something similar with focus on these aspects.
So far I found "Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina", which was ok but didn't quite live up to Frieren and wasn't nearly as captivating.
So does anyone know similar shows or at least shows that focus on the aspects of story telling I mentioned avove?
