  • If you or a friend has a PS5 with a PS Plus Premium subscription, you can trial the game for two hours. Your progress will transfer over if you decide to buy, but that's as close as you're going to get to a demo I think.

  • They didn't though.

He became PM through an internal Tory vote for a leader, after the previous PM stepped down. She became leader in exactly the same way and had only lasted a seven weeks since her predecessor was forced to quit.

The Tories are truly awful, and their choice of leaders has shown that.

The Big Dig Podcast - Interesting look at how cars can affect communities

    www.wgbh.org The Big Dig

There is a cynicism that hangs over the topic of American infrastructure – whether it’s high-speed rail or off-shore wind – it feels like this country can’t build big things anymore. No one project embodies that cynicism quite like what Bostonians call ‘The Big Dig.’ A nine episode podcast series, p...

    The Big Dig

The series covers The Big Dig in Chicago and related stories from around it. Super interesting to hear how residents fought back against plans to destroy their community with freeways and some of the alternative plans which were put forward. Worth a listen if you're interested in infrastructure, but it has historical and political elements too.

A new housing development outside Phoenix is looking towards European cities for inspiration and shutting out the cars. So far residents love it - The Guardian

  • I worked in customer support for a car rental company when I was in my late teens in Ireland. An angry English woman called cause she had some minor issue. She ended up going on a rant saying "I specifically asked to not be given one of these foreign cars. Can't you give me something British, like a Vauxhall?"

I checked her account and could see she was driving an Opel Astra. She wouldn't believe me Vauxhall and Opel were the same brand.

I'm not even going to go into her referring to things as foreign while she was literally in a foreign country...

  • The comments point you make is a really great one. I was the same on Reddit, never engaging on something because by the time it appeared in my feed, it would be thousands of comments deep. Everything that needed to be said had been said.

But on Lemmy, it's much easier to jump in and actually have a conversation.

I switched over when it was announced Sync for Reddit was closing, but became much more active when Sync for Lemmy arrived due to it being an interface I had been familiar with for a decade. But the move came at a time where I was taking steps to reduce my empty consumption too, deleting social accounts and replacing them with books and newspaper subscriptions. The lower content count on Lemmy is perfect for that as it means I still get great stuff in my feed, but it's not really possible to scroll forever. Instead I now open a newspaper app, use Pocket to read an article I've saved or pick up my book on the Kindle app. I'm generally just consuming much better quality media due to much fewer distractions.

  • WTF does that have to do with this article? You went out with some people from two countries and your opinion instantly makes everyone from those countries "sick in the head"? I'm Irish and can happily tell you that you're talking shit.

  • Absolutely this. I don't mind eggs as an ingredient but straight up eating them is foul.

On the topic, can we please get some savoury brunch options which aren't completely built around poached or scrambled eggs? Sure you can remove them, but it takes away such a massive percentage of the dish. Even vegan dishes just substitute the egg for a tofu scramble 🤢

  • I wouldn't go as far it's them saying being gay is okay, but they're claiming all queer people can come and be active members of the church. The issue is that they're saying that while simultaneously treating LGBTQ+ people as second third degree citizens. They are "welcoming" us while also refusing to see us as equal and still claiming homosexuality is ungodly. It's the bullshit cries of a cult in its death throes.
