  • DST would lead to less light in the morning, more in the afternoon, if they keep it year round. Winter is already standard time.

Personally, I prefer DST for the additional light in the afternoon. Maybe the start time of every school and employer could be changed to be an hour earlier with Standard Time, but sounds a lot easier to just keep DST year round.

Republican lawmakers no show as western Wisconsin farmers complain of Trump chaos, disruption

Seven western Wisconsin Republican lawmakers did not appear at an event hosted by the Wisconsin Farmers Union in Chippewa Falls Friday as farmers from the area said they were concerned about the effect that President Donald Trump’s first month in office is having on their livelihoods.

Madison-area U.S. Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Black Earth), state Sen. Jeff Smith (D-Eau Claire) and state Reps. Jodi Emerson (D-Eau Claire) and Christian Phelps (D-Eau Claire) were in attendance.

U.S. Reps. Tom Tiffany and Derrick Van Orden, state Reps. Rob Sommerfeld (R-Bloomer), Treig Pronschinske (R-Mondovi) and Clint Moses (R-Mondovi) and state Sens. Jesse James (R-Thorp) and Rob Stafsholt (R-New Richmond) were all invited but did not attend or send a staff member.

  • "per se" (US) - people generally use it as "exactly" or "specifically", e g. "It's not circular, per se, more like a rounded rectangle". However, it actually means "in and of itself". I have a coworker that misuses this one constantly (and also spells it incorrectly) and it's become a huge pet peeve.

  • We started around 2.5 years, and followed the "Oh Crap!" potty training book. We went straight from diapers to nothing (no pull ups, even at night), and it took less than a week. The idea is to take a few days off where you can watch them constantly, go without pants, and catch their "cues" right before they go and run them to the potty. Once they are doing that consistently (usually after a day or so), add pants and repeat, but give them a chance to decide to go themselves. They won't want to go in their pants/on the floor. More than 1 or 2 accidents, go back to day one.

Sounds like you're close, but just need to be consistent and maybe do a bit of a reset, to make it clear that going in the potty isn't an optional, once in a while thing, but the only option going forward. Not sure about your day care situation, but the book recommends against pull ups as it feels just like a diaper, and makes it hard to be consistent.
