  • I don't have a solution just another experience: i have a Acer Xb270hu that i never got to work 100% . without edid tweaks it would only show a tiny picture and with the tweaks it only ever got to 120 hz. Now i have a Alienware AW2725DF and it works at 360hz out if the box no issues

  • I must be doing something wrong because a 3060 ti on fedora 41 with proprietary drivers from rpm fusiion was entirely unusable for gaming. Absolutely unplayable performance on X11 and bad performance with steam glitching on wayland.

Switched to amd and it works now

  • Im also not an expert but i believe since there Is still an ephemeral DH key exchange happening an attacker needs to actively MITM while having the certificate private key to decrypt the session. Passive capturing wont work

  • That is very very explicitly just the name of technical the specification. Its a documents for people who design usb devices. The tech media failed us by reporting on it like they did.

The spec also explicitly tells us that we should refer to the usb cables/ports/devices as e.g. "USB4 40Gib" or "USB 3 20GiB". So in fact we have easy to understand names but only a few manufacturers actually print that on the boxes or cables.

  • I think ecc isn't more required for zfs then for any other file system. But the idea that many people have is that if somebody goes through the trouble of using raid and using zfs then the data must be important and so ecc makes sense.

  • My problem is that the laptop keyboard has an ISO layout but my preferred layout is ANSI. So i am sort of forced to switch when i occasionally have to use the laptop without an external keyboard. Also the international us layout on windows is bad because " and ' are dead keys and there's no way to fix it without installing a third party keyboard layout.

  • I love the idea of distrobox/toolbx!

but ive never understood why they by default share the home directory. They still overwrite each others config filesand leave a huge mess in the home dir. And last time i tried it wasn't possible to really isolate things. Has thisimprovesd?

Thoughts on the Ducky One 3 SF?

So I want to try out using an ANSI layout. I've been using ISO all my life but there just are so few keycaps supporting ISO... I was thinking of getting a Ducky One 3 Yellow SF and putting Kalih Box Navy Switches in it and combining that with a Akko Black & Bronze ASA keycap set. I initially wanted to get the Akko Starry Night keycaps but they are no longer available locally to me. What do you think about that? Is the ducky a good choice? I like how compact it is and yet it has arrow keys.

Do you think HP will make a great new calculator eventually?

So HP calculators have been ... well not frequent. And from the perspective of a casual calculator user HP might as well not exist. If you wanna buy a new useful scientific calculator it's TI or Casio and maybe sharp. However with the recent announcement that there would be a collectors edition re-release of the HP 15c it looks like the new owners of the HP calculator brand do care! Well at least a bit. So what do you think they will do next? Do you believe HP still has a great calculator in them? What would be your dream HP calculator?
