Git is powerful and confusing. I have a love-hate relationship with it.
The terminology has always felt especially opaque to me, especially when I was first learning about it.

On theme with Irish Coffee, a lovely scent. I've yet to meet a Bubble I didn't enjoy the scent of.

Itβs a great razor, I donβt blame you

So are you keeping both CF legacies then?

YRP is a really nice scent, though I don't think I can see myself reaching for it very often. Overall a great shave after a tiring day.

May 6th, 2025: Haverfordsday
- Brush: AP Shave Co. - Silksmoke Synthetic
- Razor: RazoRock - GOAT

Haverford is one of those scents that somehow always seems to be better than you remember it. So warm and comforting, this was a great end to my day.
This shave brought to you by walden's SDS -- it really is a neat system once you get used to it. I'm especially keen on having my own queryable SOTD history. Neat stuff!

I can migrate again tonight, np

It really is. Iβll probably try to get one at some point, maybe if/when my 34c actually kicks the bucket.

lol, thanks. This one was hand crafted, bespoke even, but tonight the machines will print for me.

Very good. This razor performs excellently for me, and I really like Mike's base. It's a strong contender for my AA base this August.

So impressed by this razor. Even after two shaves, I could see this being my desert island razor.

May 3rd, 2025
- Brush: Omega - 10048 28mm Boar
- Razor: RazoRock - GOAT
- Blade: Personna Lab Blue (1)
- Lather: Mike's Natural Soaps - Orange, Cedarwood, & Black Pepper - Soap
- Post Shave: Zingari Man - The Rambler - Recovery Splash
- Post Shave: Stirling - Glacial Unscented - Balm
- Fragrance: Chanel - ΓgoΓ―ste - EdT
First shave with the GOAT (on passaround) and I'm impressed. It's slightly more efficient than the 34C, has a bit more heft to it, but has the same familiar geometry. I quickly got into autopilot with it and had an easy BBS.
Also my first time using walden's SDS to format my post. It's a neat tool! I especially like having this data hosted somewhere, making it easy to access on different devices. TBD whether this replaces my neovim plugin. :)

- Brush: Rad Dinosaur Creations "Nebulagance" - TurnNShave Quartermoon 26mm synthetic
- Razor: Koraat - Moarteen (15/16", full hollow) (3)
- Lather: Zingari Man - El Cantinero
- Post Shave: Zingari Man - El Cantinero Aftershave Serum
- Post Shave: Stirling - Glacial Unscented Aftershave balm
- Fragrance: Stirling - Ramblin' Man EdT
I still have no idea what I'm doing with this straight. Slightly sliced my cheek and nicked my chin a couple of times.
Pretty good results, though, and El Cantinero smells great.

Damn hooligans!
Sounds like the end is in sight for your schooling. Best of luck over the summer.

First shave with the Damaskene Open Comb. Phenomenal little razor -- super mild, easy to use, and gave excellent results.
Tres Matres is also good, I'm glad I was able to score some.

Vintage Colgate Ad

I stumbled across this vintage Colgate shave stick ad and thought some here might also get a kick out of it.

Some Recent Acquisitions
I had some exciting stuff arrive this morning and over the weekend!
First up, a nice Stirling haul:

This is the 31mm Zenith boar brush, the same that was used for the subreddit's prior "Moar Boar" group buy. The handle feels great in hand, and the knot seems just as nice as my other Zenith boar. My only complaint is that the Zenith and Stirling logos are pretty far off-level with the base of the handle. Not the end of the world, but it's unfortunate.
Christmas Eve in a bath soap is a great scent. I'm looking forward to trying it and Frankincense & Myrrh in shave soap format.
Deep Blue Sea aftershave is a re-stock. I love it with a bit of menthol.
The bonus was a sample of Haverford bath soap. I've previously used the shave soap/splash/frag, so this sample is most welcome. It's such a winning scent, especially for this time of year.
Next, some new hardware:

Show and Tell: Neovim SOTD Plugin
I had the day off today, so I hacked together a port of the SOTD emacs plugin that @[email protected] uses.
It's still a pretty rough implementation, but I wanted to share the repository here in case others who use Neovim might want to help me kick the tires. I'm fully aware that this is a niche within a niche, but you miss 100% of the shots you don't take!
I know there's some cleanup that needs to happen, and the config file format could use a bit more thought, but it works well enough for now. If anyone feels compelled to use it I'd welcome any feedback either here or on the repo itself.
The code is hosted on GitHub here.

Why is my bowl lather so lame?
I usually face lather and get consistently good results at this point.
However, when I get a .5 oz. or less sample I'll smush the soap down into a thin, even layer using one of those collapsible slow-feed pet bowls. Every time I get a foamy bullshit lather.
I'm unsure how to get an equally wet and slick lather with the bowl. Do I just need to keep adding water? Move to the face sooner? Give up and grow a beard?
