AI-free version

It's not the "trans and gender" diverse community, it's the "trans and gender-diverse" community, Mr. Journalist.

They still have the free version (without the steam graphics), but it got the same UI changes, so it also needs mouse unfortunately.

It's a shame they changed the UX so much. I love DF and was excited for the steam release, but after realizing you couldn't play keyboard only anymore, I decided not to buy and just keep playing v47.05.
Hopefully they'll add keyboard only support sometime in the future, although I know I'm in the minority and most people don't care or even prefer the new controls.

I'm guessing that it notifies you before the cert expires, because I already have a great notification system for the server not working: I'll always get a text from a friend within minutes asking why it's not working :P

Does OpenRCT count when you need to buy RCT2 to be able to play?
Also, no love for Beyond All Reason :(

Fixing an expired SSL certificate remotely
This is a story about something that happened just now. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post it, so I'm sorry in advance if it's not!
I self-host some services on an old laptop at home. Mainly Jellyfin and Nextcloud, which I use to text with some close friends.
I left this morning to spend some days with my parents, and I jokingly told one of my friends that "I hope nothing bad happens to the server, since I'll be gone for a week and I won't have physical access to it".
I've had problems with power cuts in the past, since I don't have a UPS (and my laptop's battery is dead), but they were mostly due to some faulty power connector that has been replaced, so I don't expect any weird stuff happening. My IP is dynamic, but I run a cron script to regularly check it and change the DNS records if it changes. So, I was pretty sure everything would actually be fine.
But if you've read the title of the post, you probably know where this is going.

Fair point about removal; but if you're being bombed, I think asbestos is going to be low on your list of worries.

Lost Izalith, one of the most lore-heavy areas in the game, the birthplace of demons and chaos, has a bunch of copypaste demon legs surrounded by blinding lava. It had the potential to be a very cool map, but it's straightforward and not really that interesting, save for a couple things. The boss is considered one of the, if not the worst all-time fromsoft boss. So yeah, you can tell it was rushed.
Other areas don't feel as rushed, like The Duke's Archives, or the Tomb of Giants, but I can see people disliking those for the navigation challenges.
To me, everything after O&S just feels too linear compared to the start of the game. You get the lordvessel, making backtracking unnecessary, and the areas you have to visit feel more like 4 linear paths, instead of a semi-open world, since there are no alternative paths (like the depths/new londo/darkroot -> blightown) or crazy shortcuts (like the parish -> back to firelink).
So yeah, I don't enjoy the last half as much, but it's for game design reasons as well as lack of polish, although one could argue that the "worse" (imo) game design is in part due to a lack of polish too.

I was going to say how this looks like a Cowboy Bebop knockoff, but it's directed by Shinichiro Watanabe...

SUPERHOT is the most innovative shooter I've played in years!

The Witness. It's one of my favorite games but barely replayable when you know!

The 8bitdo ultimate or 2C wired look like good options. I haven't used any of their controllers but I've heard good things about them, and they have hall effect joysticks!

These cards will make me..!

France is bacon... Just kidding. Not exactly mishearing, but I misunderstood "the best defense is a good offense" as if you defend super well, you'd attack your opponent with your defense. It didn't make much sense until I realized you're supposed to attack in order to defend...

Why are we still here? Just to suffer?

You mean admins, right? I cannot see downvotes on the community I mod.

I hate it when they use a lavalier mic and hold it on their hand or tape it to the front of their shirt, leaving the wire hanging...
They're supposed to be made to be invisible or not noticeable, that's the whole point! Either clip it on your shirt's neck, or use a regular mic goddamit!

The Silicon Life runs Windows, and that's why they must be exterminated.

Still, while participants moved faster when reacting than initiating, reactors only rarely beat initiators. The extra milliseconds it took volunteers to respond to the movements of their opponents greatly offset any benefit the reactive advantage granted.

Jerboa can't go back after clicking a broken link.
As the title says, if I click on a link to a Lemmy post that was deleted, or can't be found for whatever reason, Jerboa goes back to the start of the feed instead of going back to where I was.
Especially annoying when I've been scrolling for a while. Sorry if it is a known bug, I haven't seen any post about it.
Edit: trying to reproduce it, test
Edit2: this [email protected] lets me go back normally, so I think it's a weird interaction when opening urls in jerboa through URLCheck that makes another instance of it, restarting it. If I find any links that actually break it without this interaction I'll update the post, but until then, consider it a false alarm/special case ;)

Blackjack CLI game I wrote in python
Hello internet friends! Last year I decided to learn python, and I set on making a blackjack game - sounded like a simple prospect. Cue many hours of trial and error and reading documentation.
Months passed, and little by little I kept adding things. Now it feels kind of enjoyable to play to me, so maybe some of you or your blajahs will find it interesting too.
You need to have python and pygame installed to play. Sorry if my github is a mess and I'm not supposed to upload it like this, I mostly have no idea what I'm doing!
Any feedback or comments are appreciated :)
