V Rising Update 1.1 - Invaders of Oakveil is Out Now!

  • This makes me think he knows something we don't. Is he trying to dodge GTA 6's release date? There wouldn't be another reason to move the launch date up by two weeks.

  • Context length is disappointing, but the fact that it trades blows with R1 despite being 30B MoE is insane. I'll wait and see if real-world performance matches up to benchmarks, but it sounds like a big deal.

  • 53% is abysmal, it might as well be a coin flip. FYI this article is about a random one called BrandWell, popular AI detectors like GPTZero are much more accurate.

  • FYI it fails to fetch votes if you don't include https:// at the start.

  • The Watchmen movie is a flawed masterpiece and a cult classic, despite Alan Moore (the original comic creator) disavowing it. It's one of those movies where I usually would say there's no need for a sequel, but the TV series which is set after the events of the film-

Not to be too much of an "ummm actually" guy, but the Watchmen series takes place after the original graphic novel. The movie's ending is considered not canon which confused a lot of people (including the author here).

  • The only show from AppleTV that managed to break out to the public is Severance. I heard they have other good shows but that's only from word of mouth, it's odd how they spend millions making them but don't bother advertising them much.

  • Insane comment, it is absolutely relevant that AppleTV shows underperform due to lack of advertising. You don't care? You're literally in the TV community.

    Fuck advertising and capitalism

    Nobody asked.

  • The old video game industry still blows my mind. Competition was so fierce, there were tons of high quality AAA games releasing each year until things suddenly slowed down in the PS4/Xbone era. Granted, a lot of consoles failed and a lot of companies went under but it must have been wild to see Counter Strike, Baldur's Gate 2, Diablo 2, Deus Ex, Perfect Dark, Red Alert 2, etc. all launch in the same year.

The indie scene today is great, but the amount of AAA games coming out these years are much fewer, and there's a 50/50 chance it's going to be a total flop.

Oblivion Remastered PC: Impressive Remastering, Dire Performance Problems

  • As for the lockpicking I learned something recently from a video and now I never break a pick.

I noticed this myself today! At first I thought lockpicking was random and I broke almost all my lockpicks, but I noticed a subtle cue for when it's going to lock in place. From what I understand the middle speed has a chance to work or break your lockpick, but the slowest speed is guaranteed to work.

  • There are so many games nowadays that do what Oblivion attempted to do, so much better.

    Such as?

  • That's the difficulty mod I'm using. Do the performance tweak mods actually make a difference? Every time I tried one of these it ends up being placebo.

  • IIRC in the old oblivion there was an arbitrary limit to how many skill points you can put in a stat depending on your class. This has been removed, you can now put up to 5 points in a single stat every time you level up to customize the build as you'd like. You get the same skill points regardless of skills you leveled up.

Some stats have been balanced, like how Agility now scales damage of daggers and shortswords now (before it was only bows). Many masteries have been rebalanced and changed to fit the playstyle more. Enemy scaling still exists and AFAIK enemies scale the same, but because leveling has been reworked you shouldn't have to worry about min-maxing or what skills you're gaining.

As for face animations, they're a little uncanny but overall I'm impressed with them. They look great, most of the time.

Oblivion Remastered Impressions (and Discussion Thread)

I've been playing a lot of Oblivion Remastered and was hoping on starting a discussion thread about it.

I've put in around 12 hours so far and it's everything I wanted from a remake. Aside from the gorgeous graphics overhaul, they added a lot of more subtle QoL changes that really add up. Having a sprint button is great, and the reworked leveling system is way better than how it used to be. Combat has also been enhanced in lots of subtle ways like significantly better animations and better impact when hitting enemies.

The remaster is very impressive, when news got leaked that this was in development I expected a low effort re-release with a higher resolution, but they managed to make it play like a modern title. The lighting is crazy good and the open world can look breathtaking at times. They also managed to keep all the old Oblivion charm by not messing around with things people loved - the game under the hood still works the same, glitches and hilarious NPCs are still intact. Th

  • All the early access reviews on youtube. General consensus was that it's buggy, unpolished, and not very fun

  • I hope they manage to salvage this game and steer it back. I loved HLD and solar ash and was really disappointed when I heard this game had major issues.

    But Why Tho? - Arron Kluz - 7 / 10

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a competent new JRPG with which genre fans will likely be pleased. However, it does very little to iterate on the foundation laid by those that came before it. Instead, it’s content to offer its flavor of what has worked before.
